The Sun, The Moon, The Truth

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

It’s been this way through my entire life

Questions of what’s next, forever filled with strife

Wondering when I’ll feel the warmth of light

Always I’ve been happy, being a child of night

I promise my blackened heart is not made of stone

Over and over, I’ve made my feelings known

Sometimes you’re better off being alone

When you’ve got no home to call your own

Again and again, there’s always an excuse

So with that said (unsaid), what am I supposed to deduce?

Perhaps I am the problem, I’m destined to lose

Wondering what’s hiding, maybe this is an elaborate ruse?

The pain of not knowing, or no answers at all

Like standing on cliff’s edge, hoping for a free-fall

Realizing you can’t pound your fists against brick walls

Being ignored or pushed aside makes you feel so small

Maybe one of these days in time, you’ll rise up again

To conquer the sadness, to finally be rid of the pain

Sometimes you realize in life there’s much more to gain

But like the ebb and flow of tides, moon’s cycles wane

You’ve waited, you’ve wondered, and now you feel defeated

The message you’ve received, is the one to be heeded

Because here on this plane, you can’t help but feel depleted

Dreams of another place, another time, another space…is what’s needed.

I may or may not be away for some time. Thank you for your understanding. I think the full moon energy has caught up to me. Emotions can sometimes drift in and out like the wind, or wax and wane like cycles of the moon. 🌕

Hope you have a great weekend ahead. 🙏

  1. That’s a beautiful response to the prompt, Laura. I loved it and the words resonated deeply. Words are not enough to describe how deeply I could relate to it.

Take your time, Laura. We all need time to refresh ourselves. I loved those quotes, especially the last one. I really needed to hear that today. Thank you

      • You’re most welcome, dear Laura. I think I’m on the path to recovery too. Slowly but steadily. The very fact that I finally started writing again after 2 years is a sign, I guess. Thank you for your support on that front. Life tends to screw us over from time to time. Glad to know that you’re feeling better 😊

      • Too real! Your words are too much the truth right now. I’m glad you started writing again! I’ve enjoyed our connection and the conversation and what inspiring topics you’ve come up with 😊 so that is important, yes. Even if we need time away – a foot forward in the right direction is still the way. 🙏

Sometimes a break can work wonders indeed. Here’s to taking it one step at a time. 🤗

    • Thanks Chris 😊 you are so right, it is the human condition. I think I just needed a little time to allow the anxiety to dissipate. All will be well 🙏 much appreciated, always

  2. a different plane of existence would probably be the best given that on this one, we all have to compromise in subtle ways and there never really is any true permanency. what looks like firmament ends up shifting like sand.

nevertheless, you have a great weekend Laura. and use the blessings of that full moon to its best impact! MIke

    • Thanks Mike 🙏 always appreciate those very kind and uplifting words 😊 that’s so true too about what you said another plane of existence. I think we tend to overcomplicate things here at times. Full moon energy definitely highly felt! 😊 Hope you are enjoying your weekend

  3. There’s definitely some sort of deceptive, gloomy energy going on, trying to turn everybody against each other. Even I fell victim to it last week and I’m normally the “happy happy, joy joy” champion. Take a break if you need to, or not, you can bet I’ll still be blathering on here when you get back!

    • 🙏 ❤️ thank you so much 😊 just was dealing with some excess heightened energy (not sure if moon, buildup of stuff over weeks, anxiety, a combo of that and work stuff) or what just colliding altogether at once. Feeling a bit better now, still moving through slowly. 😊 and thank you 🤗 hugs too ❤️ always here for you as well

  4. Laura, dear girl, I moved with you through your images and words. I’m sorry for your pain. Some of us have segments of happiness, mere passages in our book, that feel perfect. We aren’t the ones with a life-long love story.

But you are young, precious friend. Everything can change in a moment, literally. I hold you close in prayer. May you find the joy, may the joy find you, that I know is there for you.

  5. Oh my god this hit deep for me. 💔
I don’t know why but this poem resonated with me a lot. I honestly would choose someplace where I won’t be pushed aside or ignored for simply being different. A place where society isn’t so judgmental and cruel

  6. Laura i love this poem 😊❤️It’s a beautiful, heartfelt expression of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Your words vividly capture the longing for hope and light in darkness also the struggle to find one’s place in the world. The imagery is stunning “child of night,” “blackened heart,” and “standing on cliff’s edge” particularly resonated with me. This touches on the importance of self-awareness and perseverance. Acknowledging that sometimes being alone is necessary for growth and that it’s okay to feel small or defeated. But what shines through is the unwavering desire to rise above the pain and find solace.

Keep sharing your talent and know that your words unspires ud to hold on to hope😊

    • Thank you so much lovely ❤️ for your kind words, so much appreciated 🙏 😊 I’m glad the poem came through that way and yes sometimes these ebbs and flows of emotions are how we get on in life, as long as we don’t stay there and let them overtake us 🤗 your beautiful words of encouragement mean a lot to me

    • It is – because of you. 🥰 You being there for me, being patient, listening to me, and allowing me to express myself without judging how I felt – knowing that I’ve been going through so much not only emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically – meant the world to me. 🥺 Thank you for all you’ve done these past few weeks. I think it started around the time that stupid post theft happened and all the “gunk” hadn’t quite cleared. And then the bad dreams. Well, you know. But I feel myself lifting up and it’s because of the help you’ve given me. That means more to me than you’ll ever know. Thank you, Kevin ❤️ 🙏 😘 I am so grateful for you. 😍

  7. Deep breaths and a big gurl cry can work wonders, my gorgeous dragon sister Laura ❤ … Anybody messing with you, tell me 😉 BUT your poetry is beyond heartfelt and a divine gift !!! I sensed hopelessness and deep frustration; hence you need to break some chains that you “know” how to do … tiredness or oppression can be confusing. A full moon can break this spell and may it pour its brilliance and luminescence over you ~ ❤

    • Thank you so much love ❤️ you know how to make my heart soar 🐉 it truly does mean so much! 🙏 just been a bunch of stuff colliding together. You know how it can be, this, that and the next, with a sprinkle of cherries on top! 🍒 at the time I wrote it – yes, your senses are accurate, I was in that place. Luckily I don’t stay there for long, just not in my nature to wallow too long! 🙏 appreciate you always and hope you have the best week ever! Swim in the ocean, under the stars?! ✨
