This is like the 3rd time the daily prompt has asked this question.

I remember a few months back when they asked a question about risks twice in a row and everyone on the platform was all up in arms about it.
Hah. Perhaps those days have passed. Who knows, with the way the tides change around this place sometimes?
This one’s worded just a tad differently though, I suppose.
My answer?

I’m not really someone who’s afraid to take risks, per se.
If I want to do something, I set out to do it. Of course, I do a bit of planning too, not just willynilly it and off and quit my job (although I have done that enough times) to live some pipe dream.
If I had to pick one that I was really set to do (had a contract and everything), but didn’t venture forth with it, it would be travel nursing.
I still want to do it of course, but it’s hard because there are a lot of “what ifs” thrown in.

A good friend of mine went, and when she came back, she was good money-wise for a bit, but unless you take another contract soon after, you eventually have to find another job.
I also have a house to pay for. So I’d be paying for a house I’m not living in. Of course, I could rent my house out. But there’s a lot of steps to take as opposed to just flying (pun intended?) by the seat of my pants and just doing it.
Of course, there are also other details that would need to be ironed out – as with taking any risk.

However, it’s a good fit for my wandering soul. We’ll see.
Another would be changing careers altogether, which I’ve entertained the thought of more times than I can count.
Hey, you never know where the path might lead.
Hope your week is off to a great start!

Yes, this is the thousandth or so time I think this has been asked. I do recall the two days in a row now that you mentioned it. I had forgotten 😄
I think we’re all just accepting the fact that the prompts are what they are and nothing is going to change it. For me, I still poke fun, but I’m kind of done beating my head against a wall over it.
The travel nursing always sounds intriguing, but also not without it’s hangups, I see. From the outside it seems like it’d be cool to do for a bit and then finding something more stable? Again, that’s just the view from the outside asking out of curiosity.

Haha, oh quick we are to forget the error of WP’s and daily prompt’s ways 🤪
Jkjk. We’re still here. Bahah. Yeah, no changing it, they figure if they’re still raking in a ton of cash, why bother I suppose lolol. I’m all with the “in good fun” having a little bit of jest about it.
It does sound intriguing! I also knew I always wanted to move eventually, so it would be a good way to see other locations before trying to decide. Also, something new.
I guess, if you look at it in one way, all jobs and all paths has plus and minus, nothing is ever smooth. lol.
And yeah, most likely, I’d do it for a bit but then need to find something more steady. Just depends.
Or, I could get a new career altogether 🤪 😜 you know as well I’m always back and forth between that idea too 😆

I don’t know that I forgot, or intentionally pushed it from my mind lol
And I agree that all jobs have their pros and cons. Some more of one than the other, but they are there always nonetheless. That is the one thing they all have in common, it seems.
I am sure when the path is ready, ti will reveal itself. 😉😊

Hope so! I don’t want any chances to pass me by 😉 but yeah, usually things will fall into your lap or place in some way or another with jobs. We’ll see what happens. Where the road leads.
And yeah, I can get intentionally pushing out the the annoyances 😜 not worth it sometimes

Jobs and other stuff too. 😉
It’ll all work out just fine. 😊😊
No, that’s kind of how I feel today. Not gonna overthink it. God knows it’s fruitless in this case lol

Glad you are confident 😍 that means a lot to me 🙏
Yeah, I get it. Trying to take everything in stride. It definitely is fruitless and then I spent the day being aggravated for what?

Always confident 😉
Yeah, being agitated all day is so not worth it in the end. There are far bigger fish to fry in life than that.

Ok. Just checking 😉

Perhaps you could start, since you’re taking up a bit of British flair lately 😜
Also, sleep tea. 🫖 may need to start chugging that regardless of taste

Bollocks that! I’d rather drink bloody Nyquil than tea! 😄

This risk taking sounds like there’s a lot of planning behind it 😀

Haha, right? 😆 Then again at the end of the day, is it really a risk? Am I just spinning my wheels?
I guess it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but there’s a lot of factors behind it 😊

If there weren’t factors then it would be too easy as well. ☺️

I feel you. At my age and with my health issues I really don’t want to start over but I feel I might have to soon. We will see when this door closes, what door, the Lord opens up. I hope is the one to my bedroom 😂, I think it’s time to research some work from home jobs. I know my wife would love that 🤭🤣

Ohh yeah definitely research remote work if you can! I get it, starting over is never easy. I’ve done it a bunch and it becomes so tiring and taxing after a while. 😫 I hope the doors will fly open with opportunity, keep the positivity 😊 and best of luck! 🤞

Calculated risk—I like that, Laura. You know, being a school nurse is probably a cool gig with a lot of time off, I bet. I’m not sure about the pay, though.

Thanks for the idea Edward 😊 I do know someone who is a school nurse actually. Not a bad job at all. Calculated risk is a good way to define this, I think! Thank you 😊 ☕️

“You never know where the path might lead.” You can say that again! Sometimes, however, being comfortable with a book and a couple of cats sounds pretty darn cool.

Good question, I’m not 💯 on anything but one thing I know is I don’t “have to be” a nurse. I enjoy my freedom so I’ve always wanted to just call my own shots with schedule etc. now, what business or venture I could come up with for that, it’s a work in progress I’d say. I guess maybe owning my own business at some point, or to that end. We’ll see 😆

I did not know about travel nurses. I had to look it up. It seems like an exciting job if you can handle it. Well compensated it seems, well relative to regular nurses.
I am having a good start of the week. NBC, the news agency, saw my Leonberger blog and they were just here a couple of hours ago and interviewed me about the tornado we had five years ago. They wanted some of my photos and they may air parts of the interview too, later this afternoon. I am going to watch the TV and see if I am there. In either case it is fun. I’ll see what happens.

Wow! Thomas, that sounds like a lot! Glad you got some awareness to that story. 😊 that sounds like a cool thing but unfortunately such a tragic event that happened. I hope it all works out too. And thanks for your note on travel nurses, I guess one day I’ll have to figure out if it’s what I want to do 😊

Thank Laura. I saw myself on TV on channel 5 around 5 o clock. I thought I sounded really weird, my accent is stronger than I thought, and I did not look my best and the whole of Texas saw it. But it was still fun. They used some of my photos, which I told them is fine. If you don’t have any strong family attachments it seems like a travel nurse would be an exciting and beneficial thing to do. Make more money and see the world.

That’s exactly it! You don’t know where anything will lead without taking some level of risk. Indeed, everyday decisions involve the risk of living in an alternative reality … what would have happened if I’d had a morning tea instead of coffee, for instance (apart from me being real cranky? 😉 )
Who knew such mundane decisions involved possible life-altering jeopardy?
