Risky Business x3

Daily writing prompt
What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to?

This is like the 3rd time the daily prompt has asked this question.

The daily prompt doesn’t care about your feelings, though lol 😆

I remember a few months back when they asked a question about risks twice in a row and everyone on the platform was all up in arms about it.

Hah. Perhaps those days have passed. Who knows, with the way the tides change around this place sometimes?

This one’s worded just a tad differently though, I suppose.

My answer?

I probably wouldn’t wear scrubs to the airport though…more like sweatpants. Also, I’m a light traveler

I’m not really someone who’s afraid to take risks, per se.

If I want to do something, I set out to do it. Of course, I do a bit of planning too, not just willynilly it and off and quit my job (although I have done that enough times) to live some pipe dream.

If I had to pick one that I was really set to do (had a contract and everything), but didn’t venture forth with it, it would be travel nursing.

I still want to do it of course, but it’s hard because there are a lot of “what ifs” thrown in.

It’s not the idea of going, it’s the planning ahead

A good friend of mine went, and when she came back, she was good money-wise for a bit, but unless you take another contract soon after, you eventually have to find another job.

I also have a house to pay for. So I’d be paying for a house I’m not living in. Of course, I could rent my house out. But there’s a lot of steps to take as opposed to just flying (pun intended?) by the seat of my pants and just doing it.

Of course, there are also other details that would need to be ironed out – as with taking any risk.

You never know what could happen down the line.

However, it’s a good fit for my wandering soul. We’ll see.

Another would be changing careers altogether, which I’ve entertained the thought of more times than I can count.

Hey, you never know where the path might lead.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

  1. Yes, this is the thousandth or so time I think this has been asked. I do recall the two days in a row now that you mentioned it. I had forgotten 😄
I think we’re all just accepting the fact that the prompts are what they are and nothing is going to change it. For me, I still poke fun, but I’m kind of done beating my head against a wall over it.

The travel nursing always sounds intriguing, but also not without it’s hangups, I see. From the outside it seems like it’d be cool to do for a bit and then finding something more stable? Again, that’s just the view from the outside asking out of curiosity.

    • Haha, oh quick we are to forget the error of WP’s and daily prompt’s ways 🤪
Jkjk. We’re still here. Bahah. Yeah, no changing it, they figure if they’re still raking in a ton of cash, why bother I suppose lolol. I’m all with the “in good fun” having a little bit of jest about it.

It does sound intriguing! I also knew I always wanted to move eventually, so it would be a good way to see other locations before trying to decide. Also, something new.

I guess, if you look at it in one way, all jobs and all paths has plus and minus, nothing is ever smooth. lol.

And yeah, most likely, I’d do it for a bit but then need to find something more steady. Just depends.

Or, I could get a new career altogether 🤪 😜 you know as well I’m always back and forth between that idea too 😆

  2. WoW, you’ve clearly put a lot of thought into this. Changing careers can be a wild ride, but it could lead to some amazing new paths and adventures..

Here’s to finding the perfect balance for your wandering soul.

    Have a Wonderful day.

    • Thanks Willie 😊 that’s much appreciated 🙏 I hope I do find the balance I’m seeking at some point in career anyways, it always seems up and down.

Hope you have a wonderful day too and a great start to the week!

      • I feel you. At my age and with my health issues I really don’t want to start over but I feel I might have to soon. We will see when this door closes, what door, the Lord opens up. I hope is the one to my bedroom 😂, I think it’s time to research some work from home jobs. I know my wife would love that 🤭🤣

      • Ohh yeah definitely research remote work if you can! I get it, starting over is never easy. I’ve done it a bunch and it becomes so tiring and taxing after a while. 😫 I hope the doors will fly open with opportunity, keep the positivity 😊 and best of luck! 🤞

  3. “You never know where the path might lead.” You can say that again! Sometimes, however, being comfortable with a book and a couple of cats sounds pretty darn cool.

  4. I did not know about travel nurses. I had to look it up. It seems like an exciting job if you can handle it. Well compensated it seems, well relative to regular nurses.

I am having a good start of the week. NBC, the news agency, saw my Leonberger blog and they were just here a couple of hours ago and interviewed me about the tornado we had five years ago. They wanted some of my photos and they may air parts of the interview too, later this afternoon. I am going to watch the TV and see if I am there. In either case it is fun. I’ll see what happens.

    • Very true…never know where the path may lead. The job I just picked up came out of nowhere. I do want to experience the travel nursing one day, so we’ll see. Yes, lots of photos 😊

      • Maybe once you are in a really supportive position you’ll be able to take some time and be fairly sure you’ll be welcomed again upon returning. That’s probably the best scenario.

      • Actually not a bad idea. I’ve heard of that as well, people taking leave then coming back. Never know where the path leads it seems!

    • I think you’re right Michele 😀 a definite plan needs to be made eventually, it’s just that deciding factor that’ll eventually put me over and flip my gears into go! Thank you, week is ok here 😊 👍 I hope the same for you 🙏 💕

  5. That’s exactly it! You don’t know where anything will lead without taking some level of risk. Indeed, everyday decisions involve the risk of living in an alternative reality … what would have happened if I’d had a morning tea instead of coffee, for instance (apart from me being real cranky? 😉 )
Who knew such mundane decisions involved possible life-altering jeopardy?

    • Really that is so very true, thanks CeeTee. Never know where the path will lead. Love the thoughts about the coffee vs tea 🫖 ☕️ haha 😆 and yes, everything involves some risk
