π© People who brag about how βniceβ and βhonestβ they are. (Usually anything but)
π© People who always have a problem. (Despite the fact that they live in modern society/are taken care of/have nice things, etc)
π© People who always complain everyone is against or out to get them. (Believe it or not, not that many people care about what goes on in your day to day, they are focused on themselves, usually)
π© People who wallow in self-pity when thereβs a solution. (Itβs ok to feel sad, depressed, angry, mad, or any other negative emotion. The key is to not stay there)

π© People who allow their past to define them. (It may be hard, it can cause trauma, it can be difficult to see the light, healing takes time, yes, but it doesnβt have to be the only defining factor)
π© People who are overly positive all the time. (Whatcha hidinβ?)
π© People who go out of their way to show how βrighteousβ and βgoodβ they are. (See number one – also, no one is perfect. We are all perfectly flawed)

π© People who brag about their kindness to others. (Again, number one – and if it is an altruistic reason, the point is just to do it, and keep silent, correct?)
π© People who want recognition for doing squat. (It takes hard work, not everything handed to you on a silver platter)

π© Know-it-alls. (Thereβs always something more to learn)
π© Fake. (So many people will agree, but so many people are. People know when youβre disingenuous)
π© Idea thieves. (While weβre on the subject of fake. People who steal ideas and then claim them to be their own. Lol π bye) π
π© Passive-aggressive. (Miss me with that shit, please – say what you mean, and mean it. Prefer you to be more bluntly honest than anything, but also expect the same in return!)

π© People who use their mental illness to explain away all their bad behavior (Mental illness is real – but itβs also important to take responsibility for things you say/do that may affect others negatively. Itβs part of being an adult.)
π© People who have suffered harder, longer, or endured more than you have. (We all have our hardships. Donβt use or wear yours as a badge of honor)
Finally:

π© People who try to get to know you/get close to you too quickly/insert their lives into yours. (This always puts my hackles up. Iβve often found that people who are like this, have some weird ulterior motives – either they want something of yours, or thereβs something theyβre looking to gain.)
Bonus:
π© βMe too!β (No, not what youβre thinking. These types of people – you canβt say anything without them saying, βoh yes, I can relate, I know just how you feel- Iβve also had this, this, and this happen to me!β)

Donβt get me wrong, this is how we connect with one another. By relating. But you see some people who do it all.the.time. Some people canβt have a simple conversation without inserting themselves into it. Ugh! π«
β Because I donβt feel like leaving this off on a negative note, hereβs some personality traits I love: people who are authentic, dark humor, humor in general, people who can take a joke, understanding, no nonsense, genuinely kind without expecting something in return, go with the flow, blunt, calm energy, chaotic good, people who are straight forward.
Also, if you love coffee. βοΈ
Eww, this wasnβt supposed to be so βlist of thingsβ ish, nor quite so long! I appreciate you immensely if you made it this far!
Happy Manic Monday!

Love how you ended the post. Says a lot about you!

So many things I start to yell “YES” at, but then feel unsure about my own tendencies. π
There’s a manager at my job who is 100% that person who has a one-up story for everything, love bombs and basically has all kinds of emotional behaviors I find very difficult to be around, but at the same time, she’s one of the smartest and hard-working people I’ve met. When taking care of herself, she’s such an interesting person. She’s a good example of someone I admire in a way, but can’t be too close to. Just seems so much contradictory ground.

Ahhh I donβt think you encompass any of these traits!! lol π you shouldnβt feel unsure, at leastβ¦how I view you anyways π I feel you on the manager – the one upping is so aggravating. Itβs like people who get engaged at other peopleβs weddings or some kind of equivalent to that. The over emotional behavior is definitely something I canβt deal with. I can be fiery and stuff but itβs usually after being pushed too far – when you have people who flip flop and all over the place at the drop of a hat it can make it very exhausting. I get what you mean though of course π they probably mean well, if only they could mind themselves

>whew< π
Exhausting indeed. It can feel little like watching a person playing a racket ball game with themself. There's no real point in trying to actually converse, yet one goes through the motions to keep up in the moment.
Fiery and fierce = Laura. π

Coffee… Mmmm.
All great red flags. I might even list more than a few of those on my own list (read: most of them). Especially the whole “I’m a nice guy/gal…” routine. That one always makes me keep an eye on those folks. I don’t trust that stance at all when someone assumes it. “Don’t tell me, let me decide for myself,” is what i want to tell them.

Yeah! The βniceβ thing drives me absolutely insane. Suffered harder and βone upβ really gets on my nerves. Those people always tend to have a problem and need to be validated constantly. Itβs exhausting. I agree you need to watch them π
And yeah – let me have my own assessment of you. Donβt tell me. Feel that.

Yep. It’s like:
“Dude(tte), we’ve all had our problems. I’m not here to compare notes and decide who gets the prize for having had it worse. If that’s the case, fine, you win. Now… can we get on with it?” *
π
*Things I wish I was bold enough to say instead of just think in my head.

I like a rich, French tea–mariage freres. marco polo black tea, and a Tazo Ginger Green tea. I don’t drink a lot of tea, but I prefer a good one. I don’t like the acid in teas like Lipton.

My only “problem” with being “me too” is that for a LONG time, I never was a me too. I was always the listener, never the me too. Then when those “friends” decided they didn’t like me becoming a…not a me too…but this is me now…I realised how much they were always just “me”…If that makes sense?
