A Pirates’s Dream (Part Two)

This is a submission for Kevin’s No Theme Thursday.

A Pirate’s Dream (Part One)

Arr! Shiver me timbers!

On a long and tiring journey

Sailing through the waters

Is a Captain who shows no mercy

Upon a treacherous sea

Image by Kevin from The Beginning at Last (previous NTT image)

A wench who will make you pay

Downing swigs of dark rum

She’s known for her wily ways

Overboard the previous Captain went

In the midst of a dangerous fight

Her siren’s laughter beckons

With a tempestuous spirit that’s bright

Image by Kevin from The Beginning at Last

To further coasts she travels

With her crew she brawls and loots

Scouring for jewels among rubble

And maybe a new pair of boots?

Image by Kevin, not from NTT

As days go on, nights are weary

Sailing through faraway lands

Which one of ya stole my diamond?!

The Captain angrily demands

If she learns who the traitor be

Surely she’ll give him a shank

Better yet, for his foolish ways

She’d make him walk the plank!

  1. I still don’t have an “official” official title on the crew, Cap’n! 🏴‍☠️

A fine, fine poem, Laura! Could be a song sung after barrels and barrels of rum! (Still kinda prefer bourbon, though…Just saying. 😉)

And if I find whomever stole the diamond…

    • Ok, ok, I’ve got one for you! I looked up the ranks of pirate lore and here ‘tis: “the Master at Arms was the Captain’s closest collaborator and most trusted man. He was the foremost expert in the art of combat and war strategy. He also took care of the crew’s internal management, making sure that each of them performed their duties to the best of their abilities. Therefore, he was in charge of organizing the crew’s plans and actions when attacking a merchant ship or fighting, if necessary, against another crew.”
Sounds like a perfect fit for you! 🤪 Master of Arms it is!!! 😜 🏴‍☠️
Now, where’s me diamond at?! First order of business! 🗡️ 🔥 or else dem scallywags gonna walk de plank!

  4. Great work! Very fun poem. This reminds me of two very real female pirates – Anne Bonny and Mary Read.

Not that I’m trying to shamelessly promote my band (ok, maybe just a little ;-)), we wrote a song about them, Stand Fast Ready. It’s a hit at the Ren Fest 😉
