Daily writing prompt
If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?
We all do itβ¦
Or –
We all know someone who does it.
We all make a vow to stop doing it.
But we still do it, haha. π

At least, I know I do.
I hear myself talk or send a voice message to someone and I swearrr I count how many times I say βlikeβ as Iβm describing something and I cringe.
However, Iβm not re-doing the voice message (and how many of you hate the sound of your voice on recordings?!) π€£
I donβt even think I do it as bad as some people π
Oh well, a work in progress, am I right?
Thursday is upon us – I hope your week has been going well! Hopefully weβll catch up more soon RE: life and jobs! π

I wouldn’t worry about using like too often. But if you want alternatives, you’ll have to look at the thesaurus. π

I didnβt realize how much I used the word βlikeβ until a college professor banned the word from her classroom, stating that it was overused. This method actually helped, and I stopped using βlikeβ for years, but Iβve noticed Iβve gotten back into the habit π«

Voices are the treasure that people give you, even those who are greedy. What death cannot capture, nor a recording machine. For a voice is not only breath, words or even silence. A voice is the whole world painted by the person.
Answering machine is not so bad …π

I think the word cringe is overused, but that is exactly how I feel when I hear my voice.

By the way, this is my first time commenting on a post, and I accidentally posted this comment in the wrong spot earlierβsorry about that!

Thatβs ok! No worries π we have that learning curve with blogging π appreciate your comment, and your college professor is pretty smart. Itβs hard not to take up the habit when describing something!

it’s gotten to a point now where i expect the word “like” in casual conversation. and if i sense someone hasn’t gone without it I start wondering if they are one of those enlightened-but-dangerously-powerful reptilian overlords those youtube conspiracy videos keep talking about π
have a great day Laura and keep up the work in progress π Mike
