As a child of darkness and a daughter of the moon, I have always felt Selene’s ever-present energy surrounding me throughout my entire life. I remember being so young and walking home in pitch blackness on one particular and fretfully emotional night, nearly 20 years ago. It was only after I had been walking for several long miles that I was acutely aware of how dark and dangerous it was. I looked up and Selene was there, watching over me. Guiding me, protecting me.

I could get lost forever, wandering the depths of the darkness, and I wouldn’t need a compass to lead me to where I need to go.

Many years later, I happened to seek out a Pagan Priestess for guidance. I needed help sorting some things in my life and wanted to know about the myriad of signs I had been seeing, rushing into my life like a tidal wave. Someone was trying to send me a message, but I wasn’t sure who. I had my suspicions, however. This gifted woman told me that the moon goddess was reaching out to me because she wanted to protect me with her light. It was in this instant, I realized she had always been with me. It made sense – my connection to the moon, the water. Her illumination has never led me astray.

Thank you, for your divine light and protection, always. You’ve never led me down the wrong path, and often I find myself beholden to your mysterious lunar cycles, the epitome of the dark feminine energy and power you bestow upon the world. I look up to you, and you always have the answers. I listen to you, for you have much to tell about life. I speak to you, and you heal me.

Thanks for setting me on this path, Aria – although I can’t say I’m not annoyed by your use of “light and love” in closing 😆

Night energy- it has always encapsulated me. Encoded in my DNA, raging through my spirit, rampaging through my thoughts and my mind.

Nyx, she’s another story. For another time, another place. Not now.

And then, of course, there’s Lilith.

Lilith.

Who people often spend years trying to evoke, often with many unsuccessful attempts to connect with her.

What the hell did she want to tell me?

Maybe one day I’ll tell that story.

    Lilith is also close to me, she gives me signs, and appears in my short stories, meditations and dreams… As an astrology geek I figured that it could be partly because my Black Moon Lilith is exalted by sign (whereas my Moon is weak by sign, but the queen of aspects nonetheless) and aspects my Sun… Could it possibly be similar with you? If you have a Cancer Moon, it’s no surprise that Celene reaches out for you; this is her energy ❤

    Greek goddesses… I have a good connection with the Nordic pantheon (both gods and goddesses), and some Hinduistic (like Saraswati), Babylonian (Lilith), Celtic (Cerridwen) deities are interested in the mutual connection/work, but Greek ones seem indifferent, even though I feel so much in common with Persephone…

    It’s interesting how it all works…

      Your name is most intriguing to me, as I used to have a screen name “Beautiful Nightmare” when I was younger lol 😆

      Thank you for your most interesting comment. I love when I can talk to people about astrology. 🙂 I do in fact have a moon in Cancer, so I absolutely do feel that energy you’re speaking of. The connections you have are quite impressive, there are other deities I do as well but chose simply not to list them here. That’ll come out in time. However; I don’t believe I have a connection to any Celtic deities, which always has surprised me. Greek, Norse, and even Egyptian are ones I’ve connected to/have a connection with.

      If she seeks you out, or you have a connection to her, then you know how abundantly she shows you her signs. Oddly enough, I had read your comment before I left work, and decided I would respond later, because I didn’t want to be hasty in my reply. As I was driving home, I was listening to music and suddenly her hymn by Peter Gundry came on and started playing – something I hadn’t listened to in monthssss. (Haven’t looked up anything on Goëtia recently, either) It’s like she’s always saying “yesss…I’m here.”
      Lilith has gifted me with many things, and I am grateful for her.

      • Regarding the nickname, this is a quote from About Me and this Blog:
        “Firstly, this nickname was about my inner contrasts and struggles; now, it’s mostly about the fact that I’m not only about light, good, and golden pink sparkles. I give off the vibe of someone dark and gothic; my art is very dark and shadowy. I’m artistically blocked when I don’t write this way. I’m quite sad and serious sometimes, but my heart is in the right place, and I want to build and support, not to destroy. Call this whatever vibrations you want, but it’s me. Yin and Yang or Ice vs Fire. I’m both, and in the very middle – both Marvelous and Nightmarish.”

        I know that it slightly similar to your self-description, and it struck me when I visited your blog for the first time 😉

        The inner contrasts and struggles mentioned above were mainly about my mental health issues (bipolar affective disorder, and BPD), which also suited this nickname very much. Additionally, my prose is very dreamlike (since I’ve become more psychologically stable, I write like this on purpose). I should also thank Alice Cooper, because my initial idea for blog title was ‘Welcome to My Nightmare‘.

        I can understand and resonate with that dark writing aspect of your personality. Sometimes it just flows and you have to allow it in this way. It’s healing. Thank you for sharing with me the background, I always love a good origin story, very informative!

        Yes, writing horror stories is definitely healing. Speaking of which, I’m really glad that I’ve met another Reiki Practitioner (me too), who also thinks that way and doesn’t simply suppress all their inner darkness.

      • So sorry, somehow this comment slipped through! Awesome that you also practice Reiki, which level are you? And I don’t think it’s ever good to suppress darkness, because then it ends up bottling up and coming out. I’ve often had to deal with a lot of underlying rage, and that’s from years of taking so much garbage from others. I’m sure you can relate in ways how hard it can be sometimes.

        Cerridwen’s connection was a total surprise to me. I’ve never delved deeply into Celtic traditions, but given her role as the Goddess of sorcery, inspiration and transformation, I suppose her energy resonates closely with mine 🙂

        Yes, I know 🙂 There was a time when books, channels about Lilith, red Full Moons and songs non-stop showered me. What you describe is a very definite sign from her; you have a very good connection with Lilith!

        As for Goëtia, I know that you refer to a magical tradition&grimoirs, but if you are into dark ambient, I’d advise you to listen to Lustmord – Goëtia, a truly entrancing track…
