I’ve Got Sunshine

Hello, everyone! The weekend is upon us here and I hope you all are doing well.

I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Edward, from Thoughts about leadership, history, and more. Thank you for the nomination, Edward! 😊

Woohoo! Yayy 🙌

Check out his blog for lots of great posts which feature music, history, poetry, and other interesting topics!

Without further ado, here are the rules which I’ve copied from Edward’s blog:

  • Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Provide a link to your nominator’s blog.
  • Answer your nominators’ questions.
  • Nominate up to 11 bloggers.
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

Here are my answers to Edward’s questions, with of course, some of my own AI pizazz thrown in! 😀

What is your morning routine?

This is a fun one, because it depends on if I’m working overnight or not. 3 nights out of 7, I work a 12 hour shift from 7pm-7am (or whenever my relief decides to show up) but I’m hoping sooner than later to get on a day shift job.

After pulling a 12 hour overnight 😴

So, it’s either one of the two – I’m passing out soon after coming home from working, or if it’s my day off, I try to maintain somewhat of a normal schedule which includes drinking coffee first thing and getting up to do errands – lately I’ve been going to the gym, and just enjoying the peace that time off from work offers.

I’m not this ripped, but I totally wish I was! 😀

What is your favorite season? Why?

Autumn. I just love the vibe, I was born in October, and it starts to get cooler out. The air changes, and not just the temperature, but the atmosphere as well. Also, favorite holidays and celebrations take place during Autumn.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Spending time with my grandmother. One of my very first memories with her was when she showed me how to bake a cake.

Who or what has been your most unlikely teacher?

I would say experience, but I guess that’s a bit cliché and not at all unlikely. I suppose I could say my patients – especially the ones in recovery and with mental health struggles. It takes a lot of patience to care for patients (heh) who relapse over and over again.

Hmmm…not the most likely teaching scenario, still valuable

You have to have compassion for their diagnoses, but you also need to set firm boundaries. Not to mention, it makes you a fantastic lie detector.

Who or what are you most proud of?

I often feel a sense of pride for others when they make leaps and bounds in overcoming something, whether that be a challenging time or just something they were struggling with internally. For myself, I suppose it was when I became a nurse.

What is something that surprises people about you?

I have major RBF but I’m actually a really nice and caring person if you take the time to get to know me. But I don’t let people in super easily, either.

Well, for some people…the RBF is appropriate

What motivated you to start blogging?

I was told by a medium I practice with to “start writing” because she felt that my writing would really help others. It’s been a wonderful journey so far, so I’m thankful I took the plunge!

What forms of entertainment do you enjoy the most?

Love concerts, although I’m getting way too old and impatient for mosh pits, waiting, rude people, etc. I still love live music though. I enjoy video games, but it’s been a while since I’ve sat down and played any. I do like watching movies or TV but it has to be something good, like Vikings, Dexter, etc.

Back when I was a teenager, you couldn’t keep me away from going to a live show 🤘

If you are a book reader, do you prefer a paper copy or a digital copy?

Both. Digital obviously for ease and convenience, but I love the way a book feels in my hands and it feels like more of a “reading” experience that way.

I haven’t read this book in a while – still one of my favs!

What’s your favorite music genre, and who is your favorite singer?

Rock. Metal. 🤘 It’s hard for me to choose a favorite singer because it changes and there are so many great ones out there but if I have to choose I’m gonna go with Ozzy. I love him!

I tried to embed a video from YouTube of my fav Ozzy song – See You on the Other Side – but because I don’t pay for WP, I’m not allowed to 😆

What societal causes do you care about the most?

Ending domestic violence, ending poverty and hunger, as well as causes for animal welfare. Raising awareness for those initiatives and helping out in anyway I can is very important to me. Also, “Leave No Trace,” please – to preserve our wonderful nature!

Please don’t leave your trash outside!

Here are my questions for my nominees:

What’s your favorite brand of coffee? If you don’t drink coffee, what do you like to drink? (Tea, etc)

What’s the most creative lie you’ve ever told?

What’s the last dream you had (that you feel comfortable sharing)? If you’re in the “don’t dream” camp, what would you like to dream about?

What was the most favorite job you’ve held in your lifetime?

What motivated you to start blogging?

What are you grateful for?

What’s something nice you did for yourself recently?

If you could partake in any new endeavor, experience, or hobby, regardless of time constraints or money, what would it be?

What do you like to do to keep your brain active?

What do you like to do to keep your body active?

What is your favorite thing about spending time out in nature?

Time to spill the beans! 🫘

And now *rubs palms together* muahahah…this is who I nominate:

Kevin from The Beginning at Last (I know Edward already tagged you, so double tag!) I just realized if you participate, you have to answer 22 questions, so 🤪 nevermind!

Stephanie from Singing Gecko

Kymber from Booomcha

Siri from Beyond Sirius Sea

Ernie from Dawgy Daddy Responds (double tag!) same reason above as Kevin, but I’d like to see your answers, too!

Liz from Taking Each Day Free

Alice from My Writing Journey

Sara from Sara Allwright Fine Art

Sharon from My Slice of Life

Mike from Moderate Living

Thomas from Leonberger Life and Super Facts

No obligation to participate, but I’d love to see your responses!

Happy weekend is here! I hope you have some time for relaxing and peace.

I feel like this was a really long post lol so if you got a chance to read it all, I appreciate it!

  5. Thank you Laura for the nomination. I am currently working on my post. But it will be up some time today.

I like your phrase “Leave no trace.” I wish people would do that when out and about.

I love the colours of autumn. 🍂

If you were not doing a mixture of different shifts, what shift would you prefer? I think we have had this discussion before. But I can’t remember tbh.

    • Looking forward to it, Liz! 😊 Thank you! 🙏 and yes, I agree about the “Leave No Trace” honestly if more people were considerate that way, it would make the world so much better.

Yay for Autumn! 😀🍁 I wish we had more colors here in Florida.

Honestly, I’ve worked nights for years and I used to really love it. You don’t have the “hectic-ness” of days, but nights is starting to wear on me and my body. You also don’t have a lot of support at night. Especially considering it’s a difficult job mentally and emotionally. So, although I do love nights in many ways, I’m ready to transition to days and integrate with the world of the living (tolerate, I suppose!) lol 😆 thank you for asking! What about you?

Can’t wait to see your post! ❤️

  6. Whoa! This post has more layers than a lasagna made by an overachiever! Congrats on the nomination—at this rate, you’ll need a personal assistant just to handle all your awards. Now go enjoy the weekend before someone nominates you for a 50-question deep dive into your soul! 😆

    Liked by 1 person

    • 🤣 😆 you’re right, I can’t reveal too much of my dark soul, there will be no more mystery! And thank you, a lasagna sounds absolutely delicious right about now! I hope you’re having a great weekend! 😀 🙏

      Liked by 1 person

      • Hahaha! Keep that mystery intact—no one wants a soul as transparent as a window after an overenthusiastic spring cleaning!
Enjoy that imaginary lasagna, and may your weekend be as award-worthy as your posts (minus the acceptance speeches and awkward thank-you lists)! 😆🍝✨

Beautiful, Laura ❤ … I will work on my answers and so incredibly sweet of you to nominate this cloudy ghost in a perpetual fog (lol) !!! Don’t get lost in the fog, I’ll have to come find you and pull you out 🤗 thanks for the love 🥰 and the wonderfully magical and ethereal and enchanting presence that is so fantastically you! We still have to take our swim under the moonlight in the beach by the mountains! 🏔️ 🌊 🌙 Have a sweet Sunday and be safe and healthy ✨

  9. That was fun to read and I love your AI images, Laura! 😀 RBF can definitely be a good thing with some people. Night shift is rugged and I hope you find a better job soon!

BTW, I’m MUCH older than you (70), and attend rock concerts frequently. They are my fountain of youth. 😉 Ozzy is a superb showman and we always had a great time at Black Sabbath concerts. Metallica coming up this month – twice! 🤘

“Leave No Trace” is a motto everyone should embrace. Sadly, so many do not. Wishing you a good week! 🌷

    • Haha! Rock concerts are so much fun! Enjoy Metallica! 🤘 that sounds amazing! Woooo! 🎶 🎵 and yes, RBF isn’t always bad. 😀 I appreciate your kindness about finding a new job, I definitely need one! Fingers crossed 🤞
Thank you, Debbie! I hope you have a great week too! ✨ 💕

  10. Awesome! I knew you would have wonderful images to go with your answers. I love all your causes, and I support a few of them myself. That’s a great Ozzy song. I remember when he did the duet with Lita Ford—it was excellent, and I was singing “Close My Eyes Forever” every day for like two weeks. Then he came out with the “No More Tears” album, which totally changed his career. Well done, my friend. 🫶🏼
