Therapeutic Smoke

This is a submission for Kevinโ€™s No Theme Thursday.

When I light it up, I feel so dang high
A soothing exhale, with a relaxing sigh
With all its different strains, I choose the meditative blend
While I sing its praises, I donโ€™t mean to offend

In a flash, all my petty nuisances fade away
If I could, Iโ€™d use itโ€™s powerful magic everyday
It cleanses my energy, I can now happily fly free
No worries at all, as I laugh cheerfully with glee

My anxieties relieved, giving me a needed reprieve
If you have some with you, Iโ€™m willing to receive
When feeling pain, it gives a bit of extra relief
Then again, I guess it depends on your beliefs

Whatโ€™s this miracle smoke Iโ€™m talking so highly about?
With its fine healing properties, thereโ€™s not even a doubt
It calms your mind when feeling pressured and tense
Thatโ€™s right, Iโ€™m talking about that heavenly Sage incense:

Seriously, this stuff is amazing for clearing out the funk! **stock photo found online, but it is the actual White Sage incense that I like to use** ๐Ÿ˜†

Haha, just a bit of light-hearted fun! ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

Happy Thursday! Enjoy your day, itโ€™s almost the end of the week!

    • Hahaha! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thank you, Kevin โค๏ธ for such a great image ๐Ÿ™ it truly did inspire this quick and fun write. โœ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’จ always like a bit of humor.

Yesss the sage is good! I love the smell and it just feels like it cleanses so much negativity. โค๏ธ ๐Ÿฅฐ

      • I think it mixes good with the lavender scent too. ๐Ÿ˜Š
I liked the left turn at the end. It looked like it was definitely going one way, and then, bam, we ended up elswhere ๐Ÿ˜„
        Well played indeed ๐Ÿ’—

      • I went through a big essential oil phase, bought little rollers and was drawn to the citrus flavors, which surprised the heck out of me because normally, no. ๐Ÿ™‚

But I love all kinds of incense! Favorite is probably Sandalwood, though I can’t burn it too much when my son is home.

  2. Sure, Sage incense, eh? Thatโ€™s how it starts! One minute youโ€™re lighting up for โ€˜meditation,โ€™ next thing you know, youโ€™re barefoot in a tie-dye, discussing crystal vibrations with your cat. ๐Ÿช”

      • Rum Tum Tugger on catnip? Total chaos. He starts raving about the โ€œcosmic purr,โ€ scrawling โ€œMacavity was right!โ€ on dressing room walls. Paranoid, pacing, he warns others the Heaviside Layer is a trap. Old Deuteronomy quietly tightens catnip security after that.

  3. Hi Laura, I was wondering if you could post something on the Warren-Lorraine Museum of haunted curios. It would be so cool to read more about it in your style of writing.

This was super fun. We all need a puff of cann- calming incense, from time to time. Lol!

    • Hi there – thanks for your kind words about the poem. ๐Ÿ™ I looked up the place you mentioned and unfortunately itโ€™s closed down, it wouldโ€™ve been a place I wouldโ€™ve loved to have taken a trip to! Not sure what I could write about it but Iโ€™ll look more deeply into it. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. I was reading and going all the way down throughout the poem with a different thought. the ending was a lovely surprise, I myself have never actually burned sage but it seems lovely from the way you have described it

    • Indeed, it is nice! Sage is great for a cleaning out of funky energy, I always feel good after I use it. As a few other commenters mentioned, paired with lavender it is nice and relaxing. Thank you for your comment, greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Itโ€™s an image with a lot of different elements, isnโ€™t it? ๐Ÿ˜† thank you, Michele ๐Ÿ™ Iโ€™m glad you thought it was clever โœจ sage really is so good – like a few others mentioned I love it with lavender as well, very soothing to the soul. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

    • ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ˜† do you think we will be calmly caffeinated? Thatโ€™s definitely an interesting mix but one Iโ€™d like to maybe try! Definitely mix some Fukitol with some sage to chill out and then perhaps after chill time is over, re-awaken with some coffee ๐Ÿคฃ โ˜•๏ธ โ˜•๏ธ thanks Edward! Happy Friday to you and enjoy your Valentineโ€™s Day! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  6. Ha ha. For a minute there I thought I was falling out of the smoking van with Spicoli. We do incense sometimes. Here at the edge of Nevadaโ€™s Great Basin almost everything that grows is sage, so when it rains and dries you smell it outside.

  7. Your image and poem pair well and are fun, Laura. This reminds me of a high school friend whose family had a beat-up old hippie van. It was the best! And if you want some sage, I made a few rolls last fall after an abundance in the garden. Love, love, love you!
