Kymber’s Get to Know You #53

Hey everyone, happy new start to the week!

I’ve got a head start on this Manic Monday!

Today, I’m participating in Kymber’s Get to Know You, the 53rd edition! Thank you as always to Kymber for her fun questions and awesome blog posts!

Sooo, without further ado:

1. Did you ever hurt yourself in an embarrassing way?

Hmmm.

Let me count the ways!

It’s the cabinet’s fault, I assure you

How about the never-ending amount of times I’ve clocked my head against something? (it’s like there’s magnets in there!) Or how about the time I was riding my bike when I was younger and ran straight into a mailbox? (were you even looking?)

I also fell out of tree once when I was about 13 or so, as I was trying to climb down.  I landed squarely on the concrete right on my asphalt. Owwweeee! God, that was painful, it left a huge bruise. I still have sort of a weird lump / scar tissue there from that one. 😆

Watch out for the mailbox, lady! 📬

2. What are the time-wasters you typically do?

Sleep. Hibernate. (But I don’t really think rest is a waste, sometimes others do).

Errr, not that kind of rabbit hole! 🐇 🕳️

Read useless nonsense on the interwebz and go down deep, deep rabbit holes and conspiracy theories that I probably shouldn’t.

YouTube. Dancing around my living room while listening to YouTube (but that really should count as exercise, and not a time waster!). 😆

3. What quirky behavior do you do under stress?

I smell my hair.

Yep…

I’m embarrassed I’m even admitting to this. 🙈

I used to have a coworker who picked up on this nervous habit and would point it out every.single.time I did it. “Why you watching me so hard?!” I would ask. Nosy coworkers, such a pet peeve of mine.

And I dunno, I guess the smell of the shampoo and conditioner comforts me! Oh well! 😆

I also chew on my lower lip, sometimes.

Stop watching me so hard, weirdo

Annnddd that’s all for this week. 😀

Much appreciation once again to Kymber for her always great questions, it’s fun when I can get a chance to play along!

Thank you for reading, and may the odds be ever in your favor for a less Manic Monday.

Thank you to Kevin for the logo! ❤️

P.S. – I will be hibernating (or close to it!) for work tonight as this post airs. 😆

  1. Watch out for those conspiracy theories. They can make you more than a bit crazy 😜😜

Great answers, m’lady. I hope the rest of the work week is a smooth, easy one for you. 💗

    • I’ve delved into too many to call myself sane still. 🤣 🤪 so, I’m there, maybe?

Thank you, Kevin ❤️ I’m glad you don’t think it’s weird that I smell my hair when I’m stressed 😆 🙏

I hope your working week is a smooth one, too. ❤️ you deserve it 🥰 and thank you for the logo! 😍

  2. Your accidents sound like my childhood! lol

I agree that that is exercise, not wasting time. Those rabbit holes draw me in, too!

I bet there are stranger things out there than that. 😀 I can see why the smell of your shampoo and conditioner would be comforting.

Thank you so much for playing! I hope work goes well!

  3. Fantastic looking blog! Congratulations! I remember swinging on a rope across a stream when I was about 10. For some reason, I decided the swing to the other side wasn’t good enough so I allowed myself to swing back – except I didn’t reach that bank either! Result: I eventually dropped off the rope into the stream where a sharp pointed rock was waiting for me. I remember seeing the blood flowing out of my foot into the water. I’ve still got the scar to this day.

    • Ooooh thank you so much! 😊 And that story is so vivid it makes my foot hurt! I can imagine it. Wow, that scar must’ve been deep. Glad you are ok 😊 thank you for sharing your experience 🙏

    • So true, Mary. Thank you ❤️ I feel like resting takes up so much of my time, but I need it from being so drained. 🙏 I know you can relate. Hope you’re having a great week so far 😊

  4. It’s not a nervous habit. Or a habit as such. But i have been there where I have had a time of smelling my hair because I caught a a wiff off my shampoo. So, I had to smell several times through the day because I loved the smell. 😁

But i have kniwn to bite my lips when stressed. Rare times, I have bit them very bad without realising. That can then start off a cold sore for me.

    Have a good week. 😊

    • Hahah, thank you Liz 😀 I don’t feel as silly now. Yes sometimes it smells good! 🙌 haha 😆 yeah, I’ve been there with the lip biting. Not fun!

Hope you have a great week, 😊 and thank you! ❤️

      • Well, I have not stumbled or banged my noggin yet. And I got a pedi on Saturday before taking pictures at a Roc’n’Roll muscle car show, and had a terrific Dutch Boys ‘kicker’ Coffee today. I’m thinking even I can’t 7’s out this week at this point. 🎲 Keep up the terrific fun posts!

  5. Woot Woot!! Can I ever relate to this! 😁

I’m a little too short to clunk my head anywhere but the floor (which I have done on occasion) but…..

    falling off a deck ✔️
    conspiracy theories ✔️
    rabbit holes ✔️
    YouTube ✔️
    twirling my hair ✔️

Have a good work week, Laura. Don’t let the assholes bring you down! 🥰

    • Hahaha! 😆 thank you, Nancy! ✨ Now, this was the comment I needed to read! I’ll try very hard not to let those assholes get to me! 🤣 I want to ask how you clunked your head on the floor and perhaps how tall you are 🤔 haha! 😆 yessss to rabbit holes and conspiracy theories and YouTube! 💕 your comment made me smile 😀

      • So glad you enjoyed this silly comment, Laura. 🤓 Well, the floor-clunking came about while my 4 yr old granddaughter and I were exercising by touching our toes and I got a bit too enthusiastic and hit my head on the bottom step of stairs leading up to the 2nd floor! 😖 I was 5’6″ at my tallest but since getting older, the onset of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, bone loss and spinal surgery, I’m now 5″4″. 😬 With the exception of our little granddaughter, I am the shortest one in the family! 🤯 My mom was 4’10” when she passed away at 92 years of age so if a long life if genetic, I still have plenty of time to shrink even more! 😂 Hope your shift is going well. 🥰

      • Ahhh ok ok not too short at all! I’m 5’7’’ 😆 love your humor haha! 🤣 I’ve been there before omg 😱 plenty of exercise injuries! 💪 Awww I’m sorry though, you have such a great attitude about all of it! Your mom sounded too cute 💕 shift went well, thank you! 🙏 2 down and one more to go tonight! Hibernation commences soon 😂 😴

  6. Love your embarrassing hurts. That made me remember one of mine. While playing flag football in middle school, I caught a pass. I was a few yards ahead of everyone else and started to run for the end zone, looking back the entire way until I ran into a goalpost. BAM! Since it was built directly on the goal line, I fell down on the 1 yard line. It was the last play. Time ran out and my team lost the game by two points.

    • Ouch! 🤕 haha, that must’ve hurt so bad at the time! Thank you for sharing, it’s nice not to be alone 😂 Yeah, those past things are kinda funny to look back on at times, but when they originally happened it’s like ooooof! Haha 😆

    • Yesssss I knew it! 😁 thank you, Michele 🙏 now I feel much better hehe 🤣 appreciate you for sharing that one! I’ve had quite a few run-ins with bikes 🚲 but it’s one of my favorite exercises now! And you’re so right about the dancing 💃✨ you have a wonderful week, lovely (genius!) lady! 💕

      • Yes, and I had bad fall onto concrete, too, so you’re not alone in that either. ❤️‍🩹 Glad to read you’re getting some riding time in, along with your dancing. 🥰 Happy day to you and back at you genius! 🪃💥🤓

  7. Sleep isn’t a waste of time, indeed. It’s restoring and regaining energy if not too much of it. I wish I knew how to link names like you do, Laura. I want to do it but I still need to study it. I might get guidance from you if ever it’s too short to explain.

  8. Love it Laura! Watch out for those cabinets….which someone probably forgets to close anyway so totally not your fault. Got you beat by the bike accident tho – I had a competition with a friend to see who could ride their bike the fastest downhill towards the locked gate..and get the nearest before braking! I braked, the cable snapped and I flew into the heavy, locked, farm-style gate – which I managed to unlock with pure body force!!

  9. LOLOL ~ ❤ !!! There’s too many for me to list, probably in one day for another day, but dancing is exercise and it better count! I’ve tripped going upstairs, ran into a tree playing hide-n-seek (that tree sought out me and won, broke my leg) but my most embarrassing forte is I can’t have powder sugar because I inhale it and start choking. Oh, there’s so many more and them coworkers are right there to capture any buffoonery I do too! The struggle is real, Laura ❤ and thank you Kymber for these hilarious Get to Know You posts! Hope you both have a smooth rest of the week ~ 😀

    • Girrrrlllll you and me both with the klutzy-ness! 😁 Hope you’re having a smooth week too lovely ❤️ and omg the powder sugar 🤣 I think I’ve done that before 😆 too funny! Thank you for sharing. And yes, sometimes those coworker be watchin just a little too hard! 😆

  10. Probably the stupidest scar I have is the one on my finger that I got from trying to cut a Lego brick in half with a jackknife that slipped and cut me instead. (I had built a castle, and was working on furnishing it. I had used up all my small, 2×1 blocks already, and this one was a 3×1 that had been chewed on, and I was trying to cut off the chewed bit to have another 2×1 block to work with.)

Dancing to songs saved to a playlist on YouTube is my favourite form of exercise, and the best way to motivate myself to actually get out of bed on the days where that’s particularly tough. Or, the best way to unintentionally stay up way later than planned… (This past week, I had merely intended to listen to one or two songs while getting ready for bed, but when my carefully chosen chill-energy song had ended, the playlist went on to play a dwarven metal song that I hadn’t heard in a while, and I found myself marching in circles in my bedroom to dwarven metal and Viking metal songs for the next hour instead of sleeping. Whoops.)

I LOVE this Black Moon Lilith logo!

    • Hahaha!! 😂 thank you for sharing Nicole! That’s an interesting story to say the least, but those legos can be pretty lethal too! I always hear about people stepping on them and ouch! I’m sorry you got cut with the knife tho! 😣 and LOL I’m glad I’m not alone in my YouTube switching of songs haha and I can so relate to that! I’ll put on something calm and it’ll morph into something else and then ooooh dang, next I’ll look at the clock and be like “what time is it?!” Haha 😆 thank you again, Nicole ✨

I’m so glad you like the logo ❤️ I’ll definitely want to use this one more 🙏 very grateful to Kevin who made it
