Simply to say, it’s an honor, a pleasure, and privilege to have received a limited edition copy of Ernie Dawg’s book in my mailbox with a personal message from the author himself, and I’m hoping my review will do his debut book justice.

My first impression was how truly personal the book feels, reading Ernie’s Dedications of gratitude for all who have helped him on his book publishing journey – including the WordPress community.

Heartfelt, sincere, and real

From the very first poem, “I’ve Seen Stars,” I was gripped by the words of loss and pain on this man’s journey through life. It had me saying, “Aww,” out loud! I knew that going forward this book was going to hit me in the feels, and did it ever!

Further along reading, the reader comes across a sweet poem titled “To The Ladies,” in which I felt that this was such a nice tribute to the influential women in Ernie’s life – the poems in this book are all deeply personal and very much felt.

There are a lot of favorites for me in this book, and it was so hard to pick just one, but if I had to choose, I was deeply moved by the poem “Tears Flow” as it encompasses so many feelings in one piece.

When standing in your presence

I knew that I was once again whole…”

I know how hard Ernie worked on this book, with many hardships and frustrations along the way. But he did it, and it’s a testament of tenacity that if you keep at it – hard work pays off.

All in all, I am deeply grateful that I was able to read Ink Stained Love, the book flows through many of life’s trials and tribulations in love, life, faith, and a deeply personal journey and experience that can’t be missed. I truly feel there is something for everyone in Ernie’s book, and the very human connection you feel to his writing is so profoundly felt.

I am also honored to have been able to connect with Ernie Dawg right here on WordPress, as he truly is a great friend and person all around, our shared love of caffeinated goodness brings us together and I can’t wait for the release of his second book, Silent Screams later this year!

This book review was long overdue! It took some time, but I’m hoping I did Ink Stained Love its justice as it’s a fantastic read.
