Kymber’s Get to Know You #52

Hey everybody, Happy Friday and end of the week!

Today I’m participating in Kymber’s “Get to Know You” questions, which it’s been a little while since I got a chance to. Thank you as always to Kymber for hosting!

Without further ado and any extra yammering…

1. What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?

Nap first, coffee after!

Has to be curling up with a cup of hot coffee and hibernating. Not necessarily at the the same time lol 😆

Additionally, I dunno if it’s a Floridian (Floridiot?) thing but rain doesn’t necessarily stop me from going out to places if I have things I want to do.

I’ve gone hiking in the rain before, those who wear glasses know the struggle 😆

But then again, there’s never a bad time for a coffee and a nap, I think!

2. What’s your favorite thing about your current stage of life?

Aside from work, I pretty much do what I want, when I want. I try not to let things bother me as much as I used to when I was younger, and just go with the flow instead of trying to control things and let my anxiety take over. I try not to obsess how long something is going to take.

Schedule? What schedule? I don’t keep track of the time unless I absolutely have to…but then again, maybe I’d be better off if I had some kind of routine…and why is it snowing?

Don’t get me wrong, it still crops up here and there, (and I wish that also applied to not having anxiety related to work) but I try to take a more relaxed attitude to life and all the things, if I can.

3. What’s a piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

“This too shall pass.”

Trying to explain things to my younger self…if only 😆

That I would make it, and that whatever travesty was in front of me at that moment may not matter in 5 months (much less 5 years!) from now. That I would be successful and that I wouldn’t have to worry about pleasing others. I probably wouldn’t have believed my older self, however lol 😆

And that’s all for this post! Thank you once again to Kymber for the fun questions and opportunity to participate!

Happy weekend is upon us! What are your plans?

I’ll be stepping away for a short while to get some much needed errands done! Yay… 😆

  1. In KY, walking outside in the rain depends on the season. Summer rains are okay if you ain’t afraid to get hit by a random streak of lighting. Spring rains could include hail or the last snow fall of the season. Winter; ice. Ice. And oh yeah, ice. Okay on second thought, stay in the house when it rains.

  2. I agree to the points #1 and #2, and also basically to the point #3.

As for #3, I would tell myself, in addition, that you can do more, than you think you can do. But be wary of thoughts telling you something is easy to do. Although doable, one must think things out seriously.

    • That is so true! I think we shortchange ourselves all the time and have so many doubts about our abilities and we finally realize we could’ve done so much more. Thank you for sharing that 😊

  3. If it’s rain. But not freezing. Then I will be out if I want that walk. Otherwise, curled up at home with a blanket, a mug of tea and a DVD. Or something else instead of the DVD part.

It’s been a number of years doing it now. But I go with the flow and try not to let anxiety get in the way.

This weekend will be a bit of relaxation. I hope to be out at my local res for 2 or 3 hours depending on weather after my morning appointment at the hospital. (CT scan.) I will have my lunch at the cafe on the res if not too busy. If I am still there. Afterwards, what I do will depend on how I am.

Sunday will be a relaxing day.

    Enjoy your weekend. X

    • Oh man Liz, that sounds like an excellent weekend! ✨ And yes….If not too cold I’d like to brave the rain and walk a bit. I hope everything goes well at your appointment and enjoy the outdoor time you get! And yes, going with the flow, if we can is always the best option if possible.

Sunday relax day sounds lovely 😊

      • I didn’t take any pictures. But I enjoyed the peaceful feeling with me being on early as I was before more people turned up not quite an hour later.

I had to cut short my time with friends by a couple of hours though, as I wasn’t quite feeling well.

      • I am ok now, thank you. It was irritable bowel. I have that now and again. But I really thought this would go on longer than what it did with the pain I was in. It has made me feel more tired when it started.

    • Thanks so much, Darryl! It really does help to put things in perspective, sometimes we need to give ourselves that reminder. The rain 🌧️ is magical coffee and sleeping weather! Haha 😆 Hope you have a great weekend! ✨ 🫶

    • Interesting! Thank you, Nancy. 🙏 I long for the day to toss mine, and pretty much do on days that I’m off. Unfortunately I can’t yet fully get rid of them yet due to work 😭 but one day!

Hope your weekend is going well ✨

      • Yeah, isn’t it interesting that I could always sleep peacefully and wake up on time, even on the days I have an early appointment? I tell you honestly, I’ve never been late for anything due to oversleeping.

You gotta buy food and stuff like that so work is a no brainer. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home-mom; I’ve been ‘retired’ longer than you’ve been alive! Yikes …. what a concept! 😂

      • You are too funny! 😂 🤣 I try to pre-plan as much as I can, but I have the added headache of working overnight 😵‍💫 so the “normal” sleep is already screwed up already! Hoping to pick up a day job at some point. (Any day now!) 🤣 😆 I do think it’s so much better to let our bodies do the natural things they are supposed to.

      • The workings of the body are incredible. We have two daughters-in-law who are medical professionals; one is a pediatric nurse specializing in neonatal intensive cardiac care and the other is a doctor who is ‘under the hood’ all day making chemo for cancer patients. You can be sure they are the first ones I call when we’re feeling off; I trust their knowledge and instincts before anyone else. It’s good to have a nurse, doctor (or a lawyer) in the family!

      • Oh, it totally is! I wish more of my family members were like you 🤣 😆 every nurse I know has that one family member that doesn’t listen to the advice given, and then comes back a few months (or days) later and are like “yeah you were right, it’s x,y,z” I just stopped giving the advice because I couldn’t stand always being like “I told you so!” Ahhh, family lol 😆

  4. Coffee and Florida sound weird together, from my one-time experience in Orlando I would think it would be frozen tequila from a slurpee machine.

And if you work hard your whole life and don’t mess up too badly, statistics say you’ll be rich when you’re in your 50s. So don’t worry too much.

    • I can see how you’d think that! And it makes sense too. I love me some iced coffee as well! And LOL looks like maybe I’m not on track in the next several years to be rich haha 🤣 but I’ll still enjoy the ride the best way I can. Hope you have a great weekend!

    • I know, something about sleep with rain background noise is just so soothing. Haha! Yeahhhh my hair isn’t too lovely after a rain either 🤣 😆 humidity too bahhh 😂 and thank you! Hope you’re having a great weekend 💕

  5. I totally relate to your approach to life, letting go of control and embracing the flow is so freeing. And that advice to your younger self is spot on…. Great Post and Love the Images.

    • Thanks so much Willie! Hope you’re having a great weekend and thank you as always for the kind words 🙏 and yes, if only we could see into the future and advise our younger selves, that would indeed be something! 😆

  6. So many Floridians (or maybe just Miamians?) are terrified of rain drops! It’s so weird, because most of the year rain can arrive at any time. Clear blue? Rain! I’m like you though, trying not to be hindered. Love the image of talking to your younger self. Mine would probably roll my eyes at me. lol

    • Really? Shocked to hear that, when we were kids especially it was a thing to play in the rain as long as there was no thunder or lightning. ⚡️ 🌧️ yeah, I’m sure my younger self would be like “but….” 😆

      • I think it’s because everyone spends so much money on their hair and clothing, or at least that’s my theory. It will be drizzling and people are waiting inside the store instead of going to their cars. lol
