Brave (6WSP)

Or else they will haunt you…

Be brave and face your demons.

This is my submission to Shweta’s Six Word Story Prompt (6WSP) “Brave”.

I guess there is no need to say very much about this one, we spend our whole lives battling our internal and external demons. Always a work in progress, and some days we regress, and others we are on top of the world.

The process doesn’t always move in one linear fashion. Up, down. Backwards and forwards.

The goal, however?

Is always peace. Especially within yourself.

Thank you for reading. 🙏

  1. “there’s a peace that’s only to be found on the other side of war” – it’s from a movie where Sean Connery plays King Arthur. never forgot the line.

to give ourselves peace is one of the best gifts in life and it’s always worth fighting for.

have a great day Laura! Mike

  2. Battling inner demons, is certainly something we all have to do. I was just reading a book, Green Earth by Kim Stanley Robinson, which as a subplot described us all as having little demons in us. It was a Buddhist concept according to the author. One of the characters had a two year old son with terrible temper. During a Buddhist ceremony the demon causing his ill temper left the boy. However, his dad missed the old personality of the boy so they invited the demon back in another ceremony. I wonder was that good or bad parenting? Maybe you want some demons?

    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Thomas! And the book recommendation, I’ll have to look into it. It sounds like a very interesting Buddhist concept and something I’d definitely be into reading. Haha, inviting back the demons…that’s kinda funny. I think in some ways our demons never really leave but can be diminished, and similarly, they can also be conjured back up, maybe kinda like the book? I’ll have to read it to see if it’s similar. Thanks again and sorry for the delay, just getting back on and hoping to catch up with posts 🙏 😊

      • Thank you Laura. It is a bit confusing. Green Earth was a good book but long (1,088 pages) and it had a few drawbacks. Good but not perfect. I gave it four stars, and I made a post about it.

  3. Your courage is so beautiful! Missed you, Laura ❤ … Your SWS is poignant, I was reading about casting our pearls before swine and dissecting this phrase helps when confronting demons. Not my favorite pastime, but a good new year’s resolution. Hope you are enjoying Caturday ~ 😉

  6. The goal is always peace — so true, my friend. Peace is perhaps the most elusive commodity in the world, with many thwarters of peace sabotaging our quest along the way. I hope you’re feeling better, lovely Laura. Sending many blessings and well wishes your way. 🙏❤️
