Also, Yes. Maybe…

Daily writing prompt
Do you trust your instincts?

Implicitly.

The problem is, however, I often disregard them.

A lesson in discernment,” a trusted advisor has told me more times than I’d like to count.

Haha, Kevin managed to capture my face perfectly when something is “off” in the internal radar….

Only we, ourselves, can get better and better at trusting instincts through practice and failure.

Do you have those moments? Sure you do. You definitely don’t have to be psychic, a mind-reader, or someone with special powers to have a “gut feeling” and then when you go against it, you end up being right and “oh crap I should’ve followed my intuition to begin with.

Howl at the full moon I caught this past Friday? That’s always instinctual… 🌕
Sure, don’t mind if I do…
A bit of clouds always lends to some eerie-ness
It’s also been 1000 years since I’ve posted a night sky photo 🌌

The worst part is when other people come to you with stuff you’ve already told them months ago.

I’ve now got a strategy for that, which finally brings me immeasurable peace:

Don’t tell them.

Let them find out on their own.

That’s always the fun part.

Heck…journaling is good for the soul anyways, right?

In fact, do what I started a few years back and write down all those intuitive hits. The date, everything. Even just a short note on your phone will do.

So when it happens, you can screenshot it and…

Well, that’s the thing.

It’s great and all to know stuff, either by instinct or just cause you’re so freakin’ special.

You don’t have to be a witch, either…but

But when you wake up from that dream….

Or have that pressing shower thought…

Even a moment that flashes before your eyes that says “yep, I just know this is going to happen…”

There really isn’t anything you can do about it.

Change course?

Nah, we always manage to do that a little too late.

And against our own kindness.

No good deed goes unpunished, am I right?

Buckle up.

Enjoy the ride.

Omg, it’s Taco Tuesday! 🌮🌶️

  1. I have the same problem too. I tend to write them off and then they come back to haunt me! 🙆🏽‍♀️
Beautiful pictures of the moon, Laura! Loved that night sky photo too. It looks so beautiful. I’m glad that light pollution isn’t an issue for you.
Sometimes people don’t appreciate it when you give them a heads up. I tend to write down the intuitive hits in my phone too.
    Happy Taco Tuesdays!
I like your new copyright statement 🤣
Beautiful AI images by Kevin, of course.

    • Haha, I’m convinced Shweta that we need to start some kind of support group 🤣 if not for the long-forgotten drafts, then perhaps for the intuitive hits that we shouldn’t ignore!

And thank you for saying the moon pics are beautiful, that means so much! 😊 Especially when I see ones like Kevin’s 😆
Glad you like the 24856th copyright statement I’ve tried out 😂
Hope your day is going well 🤗 and thank you as always 🙏 ❤️

      • Haha. A support group sounds like a great idea, Laura. A lot of issues to tackle indeed.
They were beautiful. Maybe I should send you the crappy pictures I usually take so that it’ll make you feel better 😉😂
Here’s to more of those copyright statements.
Feeling a bit under the weather today but I am getting better. I hope your day is going well too! You’re most welcome, my dear ❤️😊🤗

  2. Many times in the past I have ignored that gut feeling. Only for my gut feeling to be right. Some of it, I could have just saved myself some heartache, had I followed my gut instinct.

    Liked by 2 people

    • I hate that feeling, you stated it so perfectly too. It often can save us a lot of trouble but sometimes we just have to be nice, or think we’re being to quick to judge, etc etc when it’s like NO 🤣 😂 if only we could get better at recognizing the gut feeling and sticking to it!

      Liked by 1 person

      • Yes. The last time I ignored my gut was to make sure I wasn’t to quick to judge. But how things were happening every time, I just proven right every time.

  3. Great moon shots have me howlin’ at the moon in today’s light. A very interesting insight today but the disclaimer at the end? Got this dawg confused CQ. “Buckle up and enjoy the ride but no tacos can be taken w/o permission” I understand but…with hot tacos how can they not be eaten. LMAO, have a great day Laura.

    • Crap…you’re right 😂 perhaps I should redo it?! Hot tacos must be eaten!! 🌮 Glad you are howlin at the moon at least! 🐕🦴 well now it’s humpday so at least this Caffeine Queen gets to enjoy her last coffee ☕️ at 3am just in time for the 7am quittin’ time!!! 😆

Wonderful shots of the moon, especially like the last night sky shot.😍

I’m so glad you liked the shots of the moon 🌕 💕 means a lot to me. I’ll be off in about 5 hours! Yayyy 😁

  5. I think I do follow my intuition a lot and I’m often right but not always. I think maybe I look at the situations I guess at through rose tinted glasses and only remember the ones I got right. Love the moon shots 🙂

  6. Awesome pictures of course and taco Tuesday is always something to celebrate 🙂 you’re totally right about the gut thing. I hate it when I know things intuitively and I essentially patted on the head because others no better, and then I turned out to be right lol I would say more but I’m saving that for my post 🙂 have a great day

    • Haha!! Ahhh I know what you mean! I hope you have a great Humpday! 🐪🐫 and yeah sometimes the intuition kicks in a bit too late lol 😆 ughh, life! *shakes fist* lol

  7. Self-trust is an ongoing journey and practice…at least from what I’ve found and experienced. I used to let fear and self-doubt call shot gun…now I make them take a back seat (with compassion and understanding for where those fears and doubts are coming from). I feel so much peace when I allow myself to lean and trust and I find my sense of flow (even in the undercurrents of a raging storm). ❤️

PS-Yessss to the pressing shower thought!!! 🙂

    Liked by 3 people

    • Thank you so much Jenna for your thoughtful comment 😊 🙏 leaning in and trusting and flowing are such beautiful mindsets to be in, especially for ourselves. I think we do have to separate fears to some degree or the vision is cloudy. And love what you said about the raging storm! It’s often during those times when we need our intuition the most, and we second guess ❤️ appreciate your perspective! 😊

      Liked by 1 person

      • Yes, fear can definitely blur our version or what’s right for us. Something I’ve learned is fear/self-doubt are loud and critical, intuition is peaceful and gentle (even when the nudges get stronger).

    • That’s right, thank you so much Mike! 😊 I can even see this in some of your posts, like that time you took the picture 📸 when you needed to make a specific decision or choice…that always stuck out to me as very cool. Definitely an idea and something you’d never forget too. 🙏 Hope your week is going well 😊

  8. I have been a follower of my gut for a long time. Intuition has been very kind to me. We made a deal a long time ago. If I don’t ignore it, my intuition will keep feeding the data. So far so good. Happy Taco Tuesday.🌮

  9. Perhaps, thinking about things is an instinct, passed down by generations of thought. Like, Taco Tuesday? Lol!! Love the last pic. Maybe the clouds and moon are unrequited lovers?

    Liked by 4 people

    • I think the clouds and the moon definitely have had some entanglements or something! 😆 I know right, your comment is actually very profound, “why do we think things?!” But the thing is, I don’t wanna let my intrusive thoughts win! 💭 taco Tuesday is always great! 🌮 now it’s Humpday Wednesday 🐪 yayy!! 😁

  10. I have made more effort to listen to that ‘still small voice’ of instinct. Even more consciously, if the instinctual voice is accompanied by a spousal nudge, by all means… the instinct needs to he heeded. I have seldom regretted acting upon a gut feeling, whereas the opposite has had many regrets. Great topic L!! Thanks for the conversation. 🙏

  11. That first picture got me thinking of Michelle Pfeiffer as Cat Woman in Batman Returns. 😂🤪
I recently had a voyage into the internet dating scene. I matched up with a couple of girls and we were messaging each other, ‘what you been up to?’ Shit like that, and then they asked me if I wanted to know anything about them, I said not really, you can tell me anything that you feel comfortable with but if we meet up then we can have the pleasure of getting to know each other. They were shocked. In the end I just got bored of it and deleted the apps and retired completely from the internet dating world. My biggest accomplishment being that I got banned from Tinder for my bio. It’s on my blog somewhere, I’ll get you the link If you’re interested in reading it. My gut told me to not go on these sites and it was right

  12. Loving all these images! You’re definitely right about those occasions in which you just ‘know’ something. It’s so well said that we manage to change course just a little too late. One wonders why then, why be given the glimpse? 🙂

    • Ohhhhh mannnn!! I say that, all the freaking time. I was mulling this over recently. Why give me warnings in dreams only to give me more riddles and questions about what they are? Perhaps it’s a lesson for us, who knows…but it’s an exhausting one 😩

      • 😂😂😜😜The one I am preparing (and that I don’t know when I would post as I am busy after holidays) will be long as yours 🤓. But after seeing the success of last one on yesterday, very short and record of ‘likes’ in less time (more or less), I would consider to divide it in small parts 😂😂😂. Happy Wednesday to you too!!

  13. You know I’ve written about trusting my gut. When I don’t, I can become physically ill. Sometimes, I walk near someone who makes me sick. Their energy is toxic. I have to do things to protect myself. I hope you are doing well, Love. Hugs to you.

    • You have, Mary! 🙏 I’d say as well your intuition is spot on. And yes, I totally get removing yourself from those voids of people. All they do is drain and harm ❤️ love to you and hugs as well! 😊

  14. Well 1,000 years was worth the wait for those sky shots – the last is spectacular! Did you use your new camera? 🤩 Interesting thoughts on instincts and intuition. I do think children, especially girls, should be taught to listen more carefully to those powerful gifts vs. an emphasis on being “nice.” 👍🏻

    Liked by 3 people

    • Thanks so much, Michele! 😊 They were taken with my iPhone 15…I need more practice with the camera 📸 😭 haha. And you’re so right, which can lead us down a whole other path. Where does being “nice” draw the line between that and safety for instance? I could feel creeped out by another’s seemingly “supposedly” innocent intentions but if it makes me feel wrong, I steer clear. Instead of “what’s wrong?” And “why don’t you smile more?” I’ll just keep my RBF 😆 our instincts really do keep us away from danger! 🙏

      • Your cell photos look great! I am no professional, but if I can be of any assistance with your new camera, let me know. 📷 “why don’t you smile more?” Ugh! 😒 Since I was taught to “be nice,” I don’t say what I want to say in response to that comment. Haven’t heard that in a while, but it stays with you. Thank you for understanding and sharing your thoughts on the subject and a lovely Wednesday to you. 🙏🏻💕

      • Awww thanks Michele! 😊 really so appreciated. I think I have to practice at the night photos or maybe get a better lens for the moon shots. I have a “zoom lens” but I need to turn down the exposure and play around with the settings I think to get a good one. I’ll let you know of course if I try and don’t get the hang of it. I’m off now so going to make some time to do some test shots 🙏 wish me luck haha 🤞 and yes, I totally agree with your thoughts as well 💕

  15. I think Instincts and gut feelings are good for evaluating people and situations. That’s what they evolved for, and you don’t have much else to go on. However, instincts are very bad for determining what is true and false in factual matters.

    Liked by 2 people

    • That’s so true, Thomas 😊 you bring up a good point. It’s good to listen to, but also verify things to be true or not. Some things or people just don’t “vibe” and that’s ok, too. But yes, facts need to stand as facts, so true 👍

    • Thanks so much, Violet 😊 I hope you’ve been well! I’m glad you liked the moon pics 🌕 they’re my favorite types of photos to take (if I can get them right!) and yes, I love Kevin’s images ❤️ thank you! 🙏

  16. Great post, Laura! Argh, the shoulda woulda… I usually have an immediate visceral feeling… I think it’s our brains recalling past experiences, lessons learned, things we’ve read, heard, etc, that are assembled by our brains on the fly… they’re very good at that. But like you, I often second guess myself.

I’m not much of a gambler, but when I’m on a cruise, I’ll usually wander into the casino. I like the roulette wheel but oh man… what a titanic battle between instinct, luck, superstition, logic… “Well dang, it landed red 1-12 the last three times so the probability of that happening a 4th time is (try unsuccessfully to remember some statistics, move on)… well what’s everybody else doing… “Place your bets folks”… uhh umm… total gut feel as you throw your chips on black 24-36… and it comes up red 7 for the 4th time in a row 😂🤣 Dang, I need a 🍺

    • 🤣 thanks Darryl!! I think I need a beer now after reading that, too 😆 a hilarious and such a realistic way to describe instincts as well. I think so too, almost like a learned behavior or even a trauma we’re trying to avoid 😆 I try not to gamble too much as well! Thanks for your comment, means a lot and is always appreciated 😊 🫶

  17. “No good deed goes unpunished” ain’t that the truth 😔 I’ve learned to listen to my gut because every time I don’t I regret it later. But I also tend to keep those gut feelings to myself because I don’t want to waste my angry trying to convince someone that doesn’t want to be convinced 🤷🏻‍♀️

  18. I think you hit the nail on the head, m’lady. Listen, use some discernment, and know when to regard or disregard.
That said, it is clearly easier said than done sometimes, I know. If it were that easy…lol
Fantastic post, and very, very glad you like the pics. 😊😊🤗

  19. Trusting instincts can be a wild ride, can’t it? You’ve captured the essence of intuition perfectly: that gut feeling we often ignore, only to kick ourselves later for not listening. It’s not about mystical powers but about sharpening discernment through practice, failure, and—let’s be real—a lot of “I knew it!” moments.

Your approach to journaling intuitive hits is brilliant. Writing them down not only validates those instincts but also turns hindsight into foresight. And yes, sometimes the best strategy is letting others discover truths in their own time while you sit back, enjoy the quiet satisfaction, and maybe a taco or two. 🌮

Life’s unpredictability, whether through full moons, eerie clouds, or shower epiphanies, reminds us that instincts are there to guide us—if we dare to trust them. So here’s to following that inner radar a little more often and embracing the ride, one taco and journal entry at a time. 🌌
