What historical event fascinates you the most?
Happy Sunday!
Some yammering is about to commence. You’ve been warned!

So, just the other day someone who often says they don’t know very much about spirituality and claims not to be a mind reader reminded me of a very important upcoming event…
“Maybe you’re feeling a bit of that heightened energy because of….”
The 11/11 Portal
Ah, yes. The 11/11 Portal. I’m so glad I got the message early this time. 😆

Much like the 888 portal this is a time when energy is heightened and it’s a good idea to write down thoughts, intentions, manifestations, and also to place those actions into alignment on your path.
Ramble, ramble, ramble.

Basically – write it down, and do so with a deliberate positivity. Your vibration means a great deal with your intention behind it.
Next, onto…
Gratitude

The air and energy has been a bit of “all over the place” the last few days. In fact, the last week or so the universe has thrown some tests my way, in which I’m determined to come out on the other side – better, wiser, and much less vulnerable or open to negativity.
I really love this Gratitude Challenge that Stephanie posted and I think it’s as good a time as any to start feeling grateful for so many aspects of life.

So for the body – I’ve had some aches, pains, sniffles, temperature fluctuations, “throat stuff,” (ah hem) and I wouldn’t at all be surprised if the atmosphere wasn’t throwing me out of balance (there goes that word again!) as I focus on breathing and preserving my sanity.
I am grateful when my body is in homeostasis. Everything is functioning as it should – mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually.
Resting well, eating properly, HYDRATING (cough, cough), moving my body, and feeling in alignment with my purpose, as well as with others. Mindful.
Not always as easy as it sounds, anyways.

I was on a great workout routine recently. Once night shift settles a bit, I’m hoping to get back into it so I can continue to appreciate my body.
Here’s where it might get a little bit heated…
False Spirituality
I’m getting really sick and tired of “me too, but so much worse…” when someone is claiming to supposedly be more enlightened than another.

If someone is struggling with healing, or letting out personal thoughts about their journey in life, and is still managing to do the best they can with what they got – that is them finding their way.
We relate to each other through experiences, yes. But there’s a fine line…

You can’t suddenly “beat” an illness or a long-term suffering trauma without a ton of work, therapy, sometimes even medication, restructuring your mind, the list goes on…
To speak to someone as if that were the case, as if it were easy…that holier than thou attitude needs to stop. You may want to help people, but don’t act as if you’re an authority on such.
That’s not what real spirituality is. You’re not on an ascension or higher level path because, “I overcame it, so should you.”

Everyone is on their own journey.
Not everyone is exactly like you.
And there’s no rule book that says you’re doing it better, best, or that you should be hailed as the savior for such.
Martyr syndrome, no thanks.
Miss me with that. 👋 Goodbye.
©️ Laura Bennett – all writings, thoughts, and images are my own unless otherwise stated, and are not to be used without my permission – which will most likely not be given, ever.
***Because it’s undoubtedly going to come up – my thoughts on “false spirituality” aren’t directed at one person / people in particular. It is a cumulation over many months’ time of thoughts that are probably offensive. Thanks for understanding.***
Let’s put a positive foot forward now, shall we?
Hope you have a peaceful Sunday. 😊 Yours truly will be asleep for a few hours like the vampire she is before work resumes tonight.
If anyone would like to join in on the gratitude challenge, even in the comments, I am always appreciative. 🙏

A profound post Laura. I try to work on my gratitude on a daily basis to improve myself. I can only wonder who is really so clueless they can’t accept they have flaws. Have a good sleep and enjoy the caffeine cruising sanity upon waking.

Grateful for you, Laura! 1111 is one of the ‘holidays’ I really enjoy. I still have a little skeleton leaf my son gathered in a park on 11-11-2011. ❤
Wishing the whateveritis challenging equilibrium skedaddles on outta here for you!
Probably the biggest thing that keeps manifestation from being a main orientation for me is this phenomenon you describe, where someone's good luck becomes a tool for ill, by then believing they alone are responsible for their fortune, without recognizing challenges of various sorts come to us all. There are lots of times it seems a way for the universe to get me to listen and align so I can see more clearly, and alignment = compassion. ❤ ❤ ❤
Rest very well!

Man, it’s so interesting what you said about compassion. I felt this and even said out loud, “perhaps I need to treat this person with compassion and kindness” but I think what really irked me…is this person has a perpetual suffering/martyr complex and pretty much attacked someone who was writing about trauma they had suffered. Then had the nerve to say they overcame that person’s very complex diagnosis. Nothing makes me angrier than someone who’s already suffering feeling like they have to be quiet even more because of some supposed know-it-all.
I sat on it for a few days. There’s other stuff in there of course. But that was the crux of it finally coming out.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
And thank you 😊 glad you love 1111 too. 🙏

Ew. You have a keen heart, friend! That’s exactly what happens, isn’t it, especially when/if someone’s spirituality is based in momentary feelings or moods, or their situation at the moment.

So true…I think sometimes the “ingredients” are there, but it’s not true and genuine hence the “false” narrative. Just too much of that nowadays. But yeah, whatever seems to fit at the time, sometimes. Ugh. Frustrating.

My own experience have been in the form of existential crises. Although full of wonder and amazement, peppered with deep existential dread and fear. That is usually followed by growth or deeper understanding. However, what I see that bothers me a bit, although I shouldn’t let it, is these ‘spiritual guide’ people. Not all of them; the ones that make a big dramatic display of it and sell it to people. I’m pretty sure selling spiritual truth is an offense, but I can’t be certain. It just doesn’t feel right to me. I’m still trying to figure how to make money ever since I got hit by a truck (metaphorically) of spiritual awakening again starting a few months ago. I’ve become a hermit. I feel like Johnny 5 on Short Circuit, “Need Input” and I have disorganized files with mountains of pretty interesting information and I try to understand what I’m supposed to do with it. It seems every time I start to write something or to do something that will secure my place in ‘normal society’ as it stands, I get sidetracked into some other amazing revelation. Then I realize I could put it all right in most peoples face and they wouldn’t see it. So, what’s the point anyway? If you believe something, you won’t see anything that negates it and If you don’t believe something, no one can prove it to you.
I suppose it is all about changing within and spreading it outwards, but damn is that boring. I like cataclysms.

Interesting thoughts. I agree there’s a lot out there with an aim and those are more often than not the charlatans and such. Not always. Some people are legit.
Interesting what you say as well about “what’s the point?” People will believe as they want, what they want, regardless of what is blindingly obvious and right in front of their face. I almost didn’t post this at all, but I had already written it and I have too many drafts 😆 so I said to hell with it. If it offends – so be it. It’s not about any one particular person who comments here on the regular as it is. I guess I get mad when I see the “know it all” when the “know it all” really ain’t got a clue.
Everyone has a dark night of the soul. We can’t always be the victim or the martyr, however. Sorry for what you’ve been through, of course, and not saying at all you’re trying to present that way. Just saying that suffering doesn’t equal some sort of special pass in the “spiritually enlightened” world.
And yes that is also very true. Lead a horse to water…
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Truly appreciated. 🙏

I agree with the ‘victim/martyr’ statement. And I definitely don’t want you to get the impression that I was in any way offended by your post, not the case at all. I agreed with your post wholeheartedly. I was simply stating how people use awareness as a badge or, as you put it, some special pass. In my opinion, one who is using it as a means to be noticed or holier than thou or to ‘one up’ someone, they haven’t gone far enough with it. I was literally jumping to conclusions and forcing those conclusions on friends and family, only to realize how I sounded as I’m saying it. Every time, I found out just how little control I have and how little I actually know. Even though much of those conclusions turned out to be accurate. I had to learn the lessons of “don’t assume anything”, “humility (to significant levels), “don’t do or say anything without giving it serious consideration, especially into ‘why’ you want to say it”. When I speak from my self, I am a fool. When I allow myself to be a vessel, I am just that. Realistically, I think we are always the vessel, but how we approach and perceive that role is important on the level of self.

Whether it’s a gratitude calendar or journal, this is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. I’m hammering it into my kids so much that they’ve become immune I guess 😅. Got to rework the strategy. Others use a gratitude jar or other creative ways.
I believe we all have our own path to take. There is no one size fits all. Though our experiences have similarities but the stories differ. We can only try out best to reach out, offer a shoulder and walk with the other as we each find the path best for us. There is strength in numbers. Sometimes we may not require advice but just a shoulder to rest on 🤷♀️.
I hope you are well and pampering yourself with the needed rest. Happy working 😀 and wishing you a great week ahead!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. 😊 and yes, the gratitude is important! One of the most important, in fact. It’s good to instill. But yes, the feelings behind it do count as well, I think.
What you said is so true. I want people to share stories of what they’ve been through and how we can relate. That helps people work through things. Even if people aren’t ready to share their own side.
I think my biggest issue is with the people who think they’ve got it figured out, because they’ve suffered longer and harder and are still a victim. Not always the majority of people, of course. But have seen it more often than not recently and it runs rampant in certain circles.
I agree sometimes we just need to feel heard and understood. 🙏 and sometimes listening is the best thing we can do at all for someone.
Thank you! I hope your week ahead is great as well! Haha, not sure work will be happy but hey 😆 we’ll try. I appreciate your positive comment 🤗

I love the images good and hope you get so nice. That’s interesting to think about finding that balance between me realizing it everyone is fighting their own battle, and also recognizing own suffering that is so often a combination of external experiences and awareness too and that our experiences create a quagmire of self-pity if we don’t also understand how to look Beyond it.

That’s very true and a good point you make. It often can lead into a roundabout of things in which people do have their own but have to realize not everyone is like them. But people often see themselves in others, I suppose. Sometimes I think the intentions are good and maybe they aren’t aware of how better to relate.

I like what you said, Laura, about false spirituality. Each one’s journey is unique and therefore incomparable. This alleged mind reader sounds like an interesting individual. Clearly, not the type I’d associate with. I know nothing about these things, although I do find them fascinating. Personally, I would just chalk all that stuff up to nothing but luck anyhow. 😊👍
Water is the Devil’s work, I tell you. 👿 And hydration is overrated. 😋
I don’t want to drag this down, so I will just say that I have known far too many holier-than-thou types in my day, some in my own family, and most of them I have not seen in many, many a year. That said, they are still abundant in most areas of life. And likely always will be. Best ignored when able. 😊

The mind reader doesn’t have any sort of thing to gain from false spirituality, so I’ll continue to take his advice and be amazed when he reads the room and minds so flawlessly. 😜 just remember to shine and de-haze your crystal ball 🔮 lol 🤪 I’m glad it is fascinating!
Water is no such thing. And you being a charming devil, I don’t think water could be the devil’s work at all. Water enhancer/flavoring! Use it!!
You’re not dragging anything down. And indeed they run rampant even in close circles too. I know, I know. Just ignore it, right? But it builds up, and up, and up…and then… 💥

Even in spirituality, there is a king of the hill mentality. Usually money is somehow involved. 🤔

That’s so true! I guess that’s what I hate. I already knew there was that “I know more” mentality as there is with any sort of path in life, whether you are into drawing as a hobby or hiking or skiing, there’s always some know-it-all snob that’s gonna come around to mess it up. True, money could be a deciding factor too. Also when people keep their secrets heavily guarded. Fine, no issue. But are you profound because you’re just telling me that, or are you really? When I started getting into mediumship I realized there was a lot of that. Also too much “love and light” not that “love and light” is ever a bad thing, but said without true meaning and feeling. Sorry for the novel lol 😆

Maybe there’s something to this portal stuff. Something is definitely going on today. Thanks, Stephanie, for the gratitude calendar. I will pass it on. And thanks, Laura Laura, for pointing out the difference between telling other people how to feel on one side and listening and helping them with their feelings on the other. That’s an important distinction. To go back to basic psychology, it’s the difference between self esteem and self actualization, and that’s a very important difference.

Hey Laura,
Your post is like a breath of fresh air in a world that’s often too stuffy with pretense. I love how you cut through the noise and get to the heart of what really matters. Gratitude and authenticity—two things we could all use a bit more of.
Speaking of gratitude, I’m thankful for your no-nonsense approach. It’s like a strong cup of coffee on a Monday morning—bold, invigorating, and exactly what I need to kickstart my day. And that bit about false spirituality? Spot on. There’s nothing worse than someone trying to sell enlightenment like it’s a used car. Keep calling out the BS and shining your light.
By the way, I totally get the whole “energy being all over the place” thing. It’s like trying to herd cats sometimes, but hey, that’s life, right? We just gotta roll with it and find our balance where we can.
Keep doing you, Laura. You’re a beacon of realness in a sea of fakes. And remember, even when the crystal balls are hazy, your intuition is crystal clear.
Cheers to more caffeine-fueled sanity and less spiritual fluff!
Best, David

Having a mindset of gratitude is definitely key, and the 30 day challenge is a great way to align your mind that way purposefully.
“I overcame it, so should you.” – Ooh, this irks me so much! I hate this assumption that everyone’s circumstances and capabilities are equal. There’s sooo many differences between people: upbringing, neurotypes, support networks or lack thereof, health conditions…
A rambly, ranty personal anecdote: When I was in university, I was so overwhelmed, all of the time. I mentioned it to one of my professors when I came to see her during office hours to talk about my essay, a moment of honesty when she asked me that casual small-talk question of “how are you?”, and so I asked her if she possibly had any advice. She said that all students felt a bit overwhelmed at times, and that “the only way out is through”. I wasn’t merely a bit overwhelmed, I was a lot overwhelmed, and never seemed to get a break from feeling that way, and the idea that the only way out is through wasn’t any sort of epiphany that I had needed to hear that day. Nor was I looking for an excuse to not do the work, so I didn’t need the implicit reminder of “you signed yourself up for this, don’t try to squirm out of it.” I had no clue at the time that I may even remotely possibly be neuro-divergent, and considering that as a very real possibility now, it explains everything. I was trying to keep up with classmates who had a different neurotype that enabled them to handle that amount of course work. Actually, I remember chatting with a classmate on FB Messenger back when I was in my 4th year of my English degree, and saying that I was really stressed – he asked why – I mentioned what assignments I was working on – he replied, “Okay… So, what’s stressing you out?” because apparently merely having assignments was not a normal cause for that level of stress, and there had to be something else that I had failed to mention. Maybe if I had an inkling of that realization back then… maybe I could have made some different decisions, and maybe it wouldn’t feel like I have a broken, burnt out beyond the point of return, brain now… And pushing through didn’t get me to my goal of being of a classroom teacher, like everyone had made me believe it would. I went through all the training for that, and had to admit to myself when it became time to update my resume and get a job that it was beyond what my brain was/is currently able to handle. I work as a private tutor now, doing one on one teaching with my clients, because it is within the scope of what I can handle. I have family members who have never understood why I’m not a classroom teacher, but when I made that decision to abandon that path, I didn’t have the language to explain effectively why I couldn’t. But not having the language didn’t stop the reasoning from still existing. Oh, and another time, I apologized to my brother who was visiting my house for the dirty washroom, since I’d been in a slump of depression at the time, only to be told, “Well, I don’t have, and so don’t deeply understand, depression, but when my family and I had covid, I still cooked and cleaned.” Right… cuz those things are *totally* the same thing… Sure, comparable in certain aspects, but not the same thing. So, yeah, the concept of a neurotypical, mentally healthy brain feels alien to me, yet it seems that many others fail to recognize how alien my brain is compared to theirs.

I’m reading Nicole 😆 thank you, so much for sharing a personal story. 🙏 I get that overwhelmed feeling. We have to find ways to cope, and it’s hard sometimes when our brains go into overdrive. I often feel that and need to take breaks, just from life and work as well. You care a lot, so you invest a lot. It’s not so simple as just getting over it quickly and being detached. I totally get that. Thankful you liked the images ✨ 😀 🙏 I get what you’re saying too. Sometimes we just need more of a glimmer of hope than just “getting through it”. Thankfully, you were able to overcome. ❤️

Oh, and I also hate the “you haven’t been through as much as me, so your level of upset is invalid” attitude. Nah. Everyone has a cup, and if that cup is full to the brim of emotion, it’s full. For example, kids typically have smaller cups that fill faster than adult cups, and when an adult and a kid get the same amount from the cosmic tap, the adult, whose cup isn’t full yet, shouldn’t turn to the kid, whose cup is full, and act as though it’s not to the brim just because the adult’s cup isn’t to the brim yet. And even among adults, we each have a different sized cup.

This is so true. I’m grateful you brought this up Nicole. I love the way you explain things 😊 it’s so true too, that kids and adults and others have different and varying sizes of when their cup is too full. So much to take into consideration. I’m an introvert and I’m often dead tired after working overnight for 12 hours. People don’t get that I often don’t always feel like conversing or need “alone” or “me time” to decompress. So what you said is so incredibly true and I wish more people took that into consideration.

Thanks!
Oooh, adding onto my metaphor, we all have different times when we drink / drain the cup, lowering the level in it. For some of us, we can only do that in specific circumstances, and others seem to have a wider range of circumstances for when they can.
I’m also an introvert, and it seems that the older I get, the quicker my social battery drains. But I also understand how my social battery works now, so I can plan ahead better, prioritize better, and be more intentional about how and when I let it be drained. Awareness (and knowledge) is power!

I wish I was better in this 😆 I make too many plans because they seem good at the time, but when they come around I’m too drained and then I feel so bad when I have to cancel. I don’t always, mind you, but I feel that way lots of times. I get what you mean though, you have more of an awareness of what you need to recharge. Awareness is really so important 😊

Haha! Sorry, I’ve felt a bit insecure these last few days. I can’t help but have some degree of imposter syndrome from time to time.
Anyway, I should have known better! It’s a joke, then!

You’ve brought one of my insecurities to life! LOL! I’m always telling my therapist “who the f@#$ am I to be trying to help others!?”, so I genuinely hope I never come across like that. I have been on the receiving end, and I’ve certainly seen it on some social media “support” groups, but man-oh-man… 😅 Guuurrlll… yes, though! Yes!

Definitely not you! 😆 Many people who think of themselves as “upper” spirituality because they’ve suffered soooo much but can’t let that shit go. This was for a specific person in mind, but no one you ever really see on my comments or blog. Nice you went back to look at this! I never thought of myself as helping people and I still don’t. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of folks into spirituality that shouldn’t be. It’s just to have a discerning eye. But healing helps ❤️🩹

Honestly… this was so random, because of a comment on one of Kevin’s posts… I came looking for it, but you hadn’t posted it yet (your latest post), stumbled upon this one, read it, and had to jet to get the kiddos, so I couldn’t comment.
I was thinking: people seem to forget what it was like when they were in the other persons shoes. Where you are in your healing is… HUGE! Let’s be honest about that. Telling someone “run” when they’re struggling with an attachment, bond, whatever you want to call it, isn’t really helpful, right?
Hahaha! Intrigue! Who, oh who, could this person be… hmmm… I figured it had a direction; wasn’t sure if it was specific or in general, because it happens a lot!
You help people… we all kind of help people, right? If something you write resonates, then you’ve helped them… feel seen, feel heard, feel validated in some way. You know? Not in a my way is the right way kind of way… my brain just malfunctioned… could I have said “way” any more!? 😅
Hmmm… I won’t say what anyone should or shouldn’t be into, but… if you don’t understand… ask. That’s what I do… and that’s why I love this platform, because everyone is knowledgeable somewhere different ❤

I guess I phrased it wrong when I said there’s a lot of folks into spirituality when they shouldn’t be. What I am usually harping on is people who try to sell things or take advantage of others who are spiritually vulnerable. It happens a lot unfortunately. And it happened to me.
Very true, yes. Only that person can decide when they are ready to move on. I had people advise me to move on from things and wasn’t ready. Sure, it may have been for my best interest at the time, but I needed to take the time to go through that and see it.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Kay ❤️ always means a lot to me 😊

Oh! Yeah, taking advantage of others isn’t cool. I mean, if you want to sell stuff… cool, but… don’t scam people.
Yes! I’ve been there, too. *sigh* life be lifin’ dude. 😅 I know you’ve missed that phrase from me 😜😆
