This is a submission for Kevinβs No Theme Thursday.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Time was moving at an agonizingly slow pace.

She was getting tired of waiting.
And even though time was moving perceptibly slow – days, weeks, and months were passing by.
She had to do something.
She got up from the bed. She was tired of the mundane day in, day out.
The grind. Work, work, work.
All for supposed power and money.
She marched down the long, winding staircase. At the end of the staircase, on the left side of the wall was a large, elaborate door.
She opened it and stepped inside.
βHere goes nothing,β she huffed in aggravation.
Deeper she went, into the bowels of the basement, further down, into the dark abyss.
She lit a candle to illuminate her path. She strolled, thinking about what she would say.
Before she knew it, she came face-to-face with another door.
This was it.
She knocked.
βCome in,β she heard his low, powerful tone call out.
She twisted the handle, stepping into the lavish space. Hundreds, no thousands – years worth of riches, wealth, accomplishments all adorned the walls, the floor, the sofa.
A fireplace roared in the corner, almost as if it could sense her presence.
He didnβt look up. Busy reading or writing something.
She sat before him. Waiting for him to acknowledge her.
Finally, he looked up.
βYes, darling?β

Lilith sighed, exasperated at his cool tone.
βSamael, my love. When are you ever going to come out of this cold, dark prison?β
He laughed lowly. βLilith, my beautiful demoness, my dark goddess, donβt you know thereβs work that has to be done?β
She could feel the fire raging through her veins now, and her face was getting hot. She held back, not wanting to boil over. That would not bode well for either of their tempestuous natures. But she couldnβt help but think he was patronizing her a bit.
βSamael, Iβve lost track of time. Itβs been so long. You knowβ¦how much I miss you,β she said softly, seductively. Hoping her tone would lure him in.
He wasnβt moved at all.
βAll Iβve done over these last few hundreds of years has made our wealth grow exponentially. The power, the fame, the money. I think Iβve done very well, and thereβs always more to have. To acquire. Soulsβ¦are desperate. You should be quite grateful.β
He went on.
She had a flashback of a memory as he spoke, remembering the days long past of when they were first together.

Lost in her reverie, she thought back to when there was no end of passionate nights, lustful sighs, and gazing into each otherβs darkness.
βWhy did you come? What is it you want?β he asked her, she could tell he was growing tired of the same conversation every few 50 years or so.
βSamael, we are immortal. Legends, eternal. They will never stop worshipping us. Donβt you think you could take a few hundred years off and perhaps spend some time with me?β
He looked at her.
He didnβt say anything. He didnβt have to.
Women. Never happy. Always want something. If itβs not money, itβs somethingβ¦
She could hear his thoughts.
βStop talking about me in your head!β she roared now, furiously. If she had to, she would light a fire under him. He enjoyed pain, sometimes.
He chuckled.
βSo, thatβs all you want? A few hundred years of my time? I donβt believe it! Women always want more.β
Her anger swirled around in thick shadows, and she was growing hotter by the moment, and not in the way she wanted to be.

It seemed that they had reached an impasse.
Then suddenly, she had an ideaβ¦
His and hers perspectives – always a fun time! π

Well, you already know how I feel about it ππ

You and Kevin are adorable. You both made me smile. On another note, I’m thinking since the beginnings of relationships are always the most fun and passionate, at this point in my life, I should just do beginnings.

This story of two perspectives is a brilliant example of how we misunderstand each other π

You should turn this into a book. You’re very detailed with your world and the atmosphere building is gripping. π

You are far too kind π thank you. Iβm glad you enjoyed it, I did have a great time writing it π I didnβt think it was anything too special, just having fun with it more and allowing the humor to come through. Maybe thatβs what we need to do, after all?

You are welcome, Laura.
Sometimes having fun writing is just not thinking about anything at all and have fun with the writing process. In other words, not taking writing too seriously. Humor is always the best medicine anyone can want from storytelling. π
