This is a submission for Kevin’s No Theme Thursday.

Seasons change, time goes slowly
Memories fade, with whispers ghostly
Loss so profound, bleak and pale
To make a connection beyond the veil
Fragments of fractured soul forsaken
Pieces of me with you were taken
On that dark day, I’ll never forget
The hardest loss I’ve ever had yet
Years go by, but pain never fades
Sadness of memories that can no longer be made
Darkness looms, even in sunlight
Agony cuts deeper than any sharp knife
Wanting to bleed out of withered veins
Praying harder to take away heartache
Visceral reaction, an uncontrollable rage
Of life that is lost at such a young age
Echoes of laughter, fading away
Tears of joy never coming to play
Shell of life, with former self gone
Unraveling anger of what went wrong
If I could make it right, you know I would
Perhaps in the next life, I finally should
When we meet again, my little love
I’ll see you in the sky, smiling from above

Debated heavily on leaving comments open for this. Please don’t make me regret my decision.
Thank you. 🙏

the sayings about “time”. yeah, it can give a different perspective…but that pain. it’s there forever. i often wonder if that’s the only way a deep love can communicate with you. i decided that if it was, I DON’T WANT to heal from the pain, I will welcome it to break me down to the bone, and that i want it to fuse to my soul so i can always feel that communication. I’ll just be quiet about it. Mike

Thank you for saying this 🙏 it is as they say – it is better to feel that love than to never have had it.
Fusing the soul to the communication/connection, absolutely. It leaves a huge lump in my throat even thinking of it. No need to be quiet. Your words meant a lot to me, and they are incredibly appreciated

Few see their happy ending. Most get a glimpse. Others never get close. Thoughtful provoking poem, Laura.

True, yes. Everything ends, either in death or fades away within time…it’s still hard

Yes. The good news, of course, being that we all meet back up across the Veil and yuck it up over the good times!

A very autumnal feel of that change that comes with loss. I hope you can feel the inner strength of that ‘invincible summer’ too. Beautifully expressed words for the pain and loss of a deep love.

Very moving and relatable words, Laura. Grief is an ongoing process, never finite or linear. My heart grieves with the raw emotions expressed in your powerful poem. Sending much love and hugs your way. 🙏❤️

Thank you so much Stephanie 🙏 sometimes I think a lot of people know me pretty well and I’m fairly open, but then I realize there’s a lot I never really do say, especially about the past. I try not to dwell there too much, you know? I don’t know, posts like this are hard, but I’m trying to become better at it. I was told recently I’m internalizing too much. Thank you ❤️ your words always mean so much to me

Not an easy choice, but you know yourself well. I feel honored to witness your journey, so to speak, and hope the further openness you’re exploring will lead to greater and greater peace. ❤

Thank you ❤️ that means so much. I definitely thought about deleting this, not sure if I said that already. I do hope as time goes on things are easier to release. So appreciated 🙏 honored that you’re here 😊

Touching, beautiful, and tender. ❤
This is the power of poetry – to celebrate happy moments, be playful with language, but also to help process deeper, heavier emotions – for both writer and reader. Thank you for sharing, Laura. Although the relationship to the people I’ve lost is different than what you shared here, I still felt that my emotions are understood by another person.
Sending you a big hug ❤

Thank you Nicole 🙏 wise words there about the power of poetry and how it allows us to connect and process. I’m definitely going through a purging/healing phase it seems. And loss is profound in many of ways, with many different relationships, so I’m glad you felt understood 🙏
Thank you for the hugs 🤗 ❤️ very kind of you 😊
