Glitches Galore

Hey, everyone! Hope your weekend finds you well so far.

There’s a glitch in the system

It’s been a minute since I posted a WordPress rant, but a post by Irene Fes prompted me to go ahead and do so.

Our favorite blogging platform has no shortage of glitches, as we are all well aware.

Perhaps I should just sip my coffee and STFU ☕️

However, the newest one has me scratching my head.

I’ve often figured the notifications are “OFF” a bit – some people get them, some don’t. But I’ve always wondered if they were accurate…and now I have proof that they definitely.are.not. lol 😂 🤣

This one is from Monday

WordPress must think I’m posting as 3 different people, as now apparently I’ve got 3 different writing streaks going.

This one is from Wednesday

Excellent.

Thank you, WordPress.

What will you think of next?

This one is from Friday

3 different writing streaks all in one week!

So, if you’re wondering if your notification is inaccurate – it probably is. If you’re wondering if your notification is accurate – it could be.

It really is a toss up, with this platform.

WordPress dumpster fire… 🔥

I’m also noticing quite often I will “like” a post, and then later on I’ll view said person’s post and the “like” has disappeared. This has been ongoing anyways, but it’s been more prevalent for me the last few weeks.

Like *poof!*

Gone out of thin air.

The “Like” button is trolling me again…

And we can never forget the “unsubscribe, resubscribe” button issue, can we? 🙄

Oh well! We aren’t going anywhere, right? (And it’s not because the platform is so great, but because of the amazing community here).

Grateful for you!

Thank you – without you guys, I don’t think I’d be able to handle all the ridiculous stuff (some of which I’m hoping to never experience) that goes on here.

Happy Saturday! Oops, I mean…Caturday! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 but never forget, regardless of what day it is – keep the coffee strong, and the delusion stronger (helps with life I think, and the glitches). 😵‍💫 ☕️

    • I always find I’m liking over and over again, and even some I’ve viewed days later the like disappears! It’s so annoying. I do know it happens to most people, but mine has been more “extra” lately if that makes sense lol 😆

  1. I feel for you Laura. I have the same problems with the streak messages. Exactly like you describe, I have no clue what’s happening.

Furthermore, at times I can’t find postings in the Reader. Vanished, later on they reappeared. Could be a cache issue.

One blogger mentioned once, the more you rant about the glitches on WP, the more likely they’ll strike you? Maybe that’s an urban legend 🤔

    • Thanks Chris 😊 glad I’m not alone in this. As for complaining about WP – I doubt it, I don’t think WordPress is really reading our posts, they seem detached at best lol 😆

Many people rant as well and have different issues, some people who never rant about it have issues. We’ll see. Seems like more glitches than anything lately.

But yeah the reader thing has been a problem for forever! It’s so annoying. I didn’t see your latest post pop up here, either. And I know multiple people have told me they don’t see mine in Reader. Super annoying!

The streak thing is new and totally baffles me. Definitely hadn’t seen that one before. What will they come up with, next? 🤷‍♀️

      • Ok, you’re right WP has no time reading our posts. Maybe the reader problem persists, because I did an opt out of WP using AI to learn from our posts. I heard other bloggers have the same issues.

The streak is just annoying. Should be a simple issue to fix.

      • Perhaps maybe? I’m not sure. I don’t remember the option to opt out, is that when you’re signing up for your blog? Interesting.
Seems the streak should be easily fixed, yes. You know if you’ve taken a break or if you’ve been posting consistently everyday. So that one is just bizarre and irritating to me. Ugh 😫

      • It came into the general settings when the news came out that WP is working with a big AI company.

        The opt out stipulates:

“Prevent third party sharing for your xxx blog.

This option will prevent this site’s content from being shared with our licenced network of content and research partners, including those that train AI models.”

I did opt out, because I don’t want my blog content to be shared to train an AI. Apparently the price you pay for this opt out, is that your posts are no longer visible in the Reader.

They should fix the streak problem, it’s embarrassing.

      • I opted out of that too. But as for not being seen 8n the reader because of choosing to opt out, people have seen my posts in the reader.
I have seen your posts too via the reader.
But with the errors WP has been geting a lot of this year. It’s terrible.

      • So many glitches! Ugh you’re right Liz. Not sure if you’re referring to Chris or my own posts in the Reader. I still have no idea where this AI opt out thing is though. I’m often on mobile. Maybe have to log into PC to see it.

      • I think I opted out once I was aware of it while using my phone. I am mostly on my phone anyway. I remember receiving an email on what was coming before it happened and how to opt out.
I was referring to Chris and my posts are visible regardless we opted out of AI. I had heard of no mention of this. But I know my posts are being followed by most people using reader. I can see my posts too that way and I can see Chris’s posts. I only use reader when following people’s blogs. 😊

      • Ahh ok got it. I don’t think I ever remember consciously opting out of this AI thing. I usually am on mobile too, although I use the app. I know some people don’t, they access the browser and reader through the browser on their phone.

        Liked by 1 person

      • I have never used the app. So I can’t personally comment on the app. But I avoided with all the glitches I heard about in the early days of the app being available. And although supposedly not bad now to then, I am happy to use my browser still. I avoid apps if I can.

      • I always used to write my posts on the go, which is why I used the app. But now I’m wondering if maybe I should just switch to the browser lol
I feel you on avoiding apps.
They take up space and can be annoying.
Obviously WPs too is no exception with all its glitches

      • Never seen this before! Not all your posts are not visible though, just the recent one I didn’t see. But then the Reader kinda sucks too lol 😆 but I’ve heard from multiple people they don’t see mine in Reader so who knows their rhyme and reason for anything?

        Liked by 1 person

      • So weird! And then Kevin tells me he can’t find mine, lol 😆 and then another person also told me they don’t see my posts, so who knows. Maybe it’s subjective to everyone, who knows why it does what it wants to! So weird 🙄

        Liked by 1 person

      • Let me know if it makes a difference! Haha 😆 I’ve wondered that as well, if certain countries see things differently too

  2. So what is the delusion solution? maybe throw coffee at it, naw don’t waste the precious peaceful petrol, instead good luck and enjoy the “Caturday” and more importantly the ‘Caturday Night’ season opener of…you guessed it, Alabama football!

    • I feel like that’s it. Is it some arbitrary setting I set a long time ago or what? Never understand the rhyme or reason for some things. It’s so nice of Pooja to have helped you figure that out! I know I would’ve been scratching my head for a good little while lol

  3. Don’t even get me started with WP and it’s glitches. Between the streaks glitch and the follower count not being accurate, I don’t think I trust WP’s stats and notifications anymore 😖

  4. The stats issue I have been hearing about from a fair few bloggers these past few weeks.

As for the like button when you mentioned that issue not so long ago with me, that issue, as you know has been going on for some time.

    Liked by 1 person

    • Yes definitely been going on for some time, but mine feels like it’s acting up more in the last several weeks (if that’s possible!) lol 😆

The streak thing is so weird to me, it seems they could just reset that somehow. It’s not a huge deal since I know I took a break, but like – how are you getting 3 different ones? So strange really

      Liked by 1 person

      • It really is! And all within just a few days of each other too. You’d assume the streak would just be lost and start over and that’s it, not sending out multiples of different days lol

        Liked by 1 person

      • 😁
With WP with how it’s been. Especially this year, whether it’s what I have experienced or read from others, it just seems really bad when it comes to all these glitches.

        Like

    • Haha, I dunno about that, but I’m sure all will be fine and I’ll move along my day and just realize WordPress will continue to be glitchy and irritating in multiple ways haha 🤣

  5. After so many likes they cut you off because of their spamming rules. It does it after 50 – 75 likes. So I just refresh each page after 50 to make sure the like stays, if it disappears then I’ll restart after an 1hr.

  6. I think WP has finally battered me into submission. I acknowledge their mediocrity in passing and don’t even bother anymore. If they don’t care, why should I? It’s only my hard earned money they’re stealing for this stellar service. 🙄
    And since I don’t get notifications, I guess I can say I’m lucky I won’t have this problem? 🙄😜

  7. I really like the pictures you’ve shared, even though they capture a lot of frustration. I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m dealing with similar issues daily. From likes not going through and comments not sending, to emails either not arriving or landing in spam, it’s definitely frustrating. It’s part of the reason I left Facebook; I faced all sorts of problems there, including being suspended for sharing Christian content (which was pretty baffling). While the community here is certainly kinder, more supportive, and helpful, the ongoing issues with FacePress still diminish the joy of being here.

    • It’s definitely frustrating! I haven’t been on Facebook in about 15 years so no idea what that’s like. I don’t pay to use WordPress but if I did I’d be upset even moreso. Sorry to hear you were suspended for Christian content, that’s insane. ☹️ but yes, people here are good mostly so it makes it more pleasant to stick around, but it can be annoying sometimes when things don’t work how they’re supposed to.

      • Yes, I agree. I’m still on Facebook because I run a Christian ministry group and I also keep in touch with family members who have a Facebook account. But if it weren’t for those reasons, I probably would have closed my account by now.

But even with family and friends on Facebook, unless you’re showcasing something extravagant, they don’t pay you any attention.
It didn’t take long for me to notice a big difference between the people here and family and close friends on Facebook or Instagram.
If I weren’t a Christian, I might say family and friends suck. Sorry! 😳😱🤣

  8. I’ve noticed several glitches too. Not exactly the same ones that you saw but other ones. I wonder if they are updating WordPress (or maybe it is the themes) too quickly leaving a streak of glitches behind. Anyway, your illustrations are great.
