Professions with Purpose

Daily writing prompt
What profession do you admire most and why?

None.

Or perhaps I should say, ALL.

I think every profession serves a purpose.

There’s probably more than a few bloopers here… πŸ˜† but it’s supposed to show that all people and professions are important and serve a purpose

From customer service (the good kind, please!), to paramedic, to retail worker, to doctor, to mechanic, to military, to waiter, to firefighter, to nurse, to janitor, to pharmacy, to housekeepers, to air traffic controller, to EMT, to teacher, to pilot, to surgeon, to police officer, to security guard, AC repair, maintenance worker, to the Uber drivers who have to drive your drunken ass home, to the people who work long hours in restaurants, grocery stores, hospitals, 24/7 operations, and dangerous jobs like those who work in the middle of the ocean on fishing boats…

If I’ve left anyone out, I’m sorry, but you get the picture…also, don’t look too closely at the AI πŸ˜†

To any and all that are actually working and providing, earning your wage honestly, you have my deepest respect.

I’m sure I left many out, but hopefully you get my point.

For every action, there is a reaction.

Cause and effect.

AI Fail! I asked for a pen, not a syringe! Also, please never touch your face with dirty gloves! πŸ’‰ πŸ–ŠοΈ

Thank your waiter for your food.

There might be a customer service person who went above and beyond to actually help you.

Be grateful for the surgeon who saved your life.

What about that one really good teacher you had that you’ll never forget?

Thank your military for keeping you safe and free, for their ultimate sacrifice.

And so on, it goes.

Just please don’t work 24/7, life’s too short

Many different jobs resonate with me, because if you checked my history (Are you hiring, WordPress?!), lol…I’ve worn many different hats.

There’s a different kind of fire in people who have actually worked to get where they are nowadays, and who don’t just expect things to be given to them because they simply exist.

However – the ones we give far too much credit to?

Politicians.

Wishing you all a very tranquil Sunday!

Enjoy whatever you have planned, (or don’t have planned) and hopefully your coffee is strong, and your nap game even stronger.

It supposed to be a day of rest, after all. 😊

  1. Ah see, a professional worthy of praise! You care so much you can’t even help giving that PSA about the dirty glove. πŸ˜€ I agree with you, honestly, it isn’t like anyone can do anything without all kinds of other things being done, but I still reserve a bit of extra appreciation for carers. Thank you. πŸ™‚

    • Awwww ❀️ as I was saying on your post, you are too kind! You are worthy of praise too, Meditation Queen! 😊 I’ve learned so much from you. Very thankful πŸ™ and your appreciation means the world to me.

Haha, and no dirty gloves please! πŸ˜†

  2. Is that a mummy smoking a hooka?

Think of the syringe as a pen — the cafe I managed and was a barista for was located within a medical building. So when the opportunity to sell novelty syringe pens (with blue or red “blood”) came up, the owners hopped on that. We couldn’t hardly keep them in stock.

Maybe the AI wanted you to carry one of those?

    • lol πŸ˜† right? There’s so many parts of that image I’m like β€œwhat?” But hopefully it conveys what I want and no one thinks I’m an ass for putting it up lol πŸ˜‚

Oh yes, I’ve seen the syringe pens! Super cool! I haven’t seen one in years though, now I want one. And oddly enough, we’ve been talking a lot about pens lately it seems! Lol

      • Fantastic! Thank you. I must have it now! πŸ˜‚ and the little pills πŸ’Š are so cute. Itty bitty Fukitols, just for when you need to take the edge off! 🀣

      • Multi-million high stakes litigated project on a compressed timeline to fix something the client’s vendor screwed up. Basically, reprocessing 3 years worth of data to determine if there are any problems in the revised data which the client wanted done by the end of July, except that the vendor is still fixing their mess and I can’t start until they are done. πŸ™‚

Not the first time something along this lines has happened, but it is certainly one the largest and more unfortunate mistakes I’ve encountered in my job.

      • Yikes! It all sounds like a different language to me, but also intensely difficult. Best of luck, may the odds be in your favor, and when in doubt, load up on caffeine and some Fukitol! πŸ˜†

      • Fukitolβ„’ with coffee: Breakfast of Champions.

🎢 When life gets you down/And all you want to do is drown/Drop a tab of Fukitolβ„’ with your coffee/And everything will go squee! 🎢

Fukitolβ„’, by the makers of Mycoxafloppinβ„’, for that old softie in your life.

        🜏

Unintended side effect may occur if you take Fukitolβ„’ and Mycoxafloppinβ„’ together. Talk to your doctor before taking both at the same time. Do not use if you have an excess of fuks in your life or are trying to give a fuk. Side effects may include skydiving.

[Sorry. I had a manic moment. Forgive me.]

      • I once saw a nurse who looked like she worked 14 hours straight and then one of those viral accordion players showed up playing despacito and honestly she wanted to punch the guy in the face, luckily a train cop showed up. This was in Toronto 2017.

      • Can you blame her, though? I have to shut myself out from everyone after working a 12 hour overnight. Because 12 hours does turn into 14 hours. It’s chaos, and not the good kind lol πŸ˜‚ and then sometimes, sleep is elusive

      • I’m on her side working that long regularly is insane tbh no amount of money can convince me to lose sleep. sleep is elusive when the mind runs eh? I don’t have a solution for that.

      • Interesting question! I like it in ways because it gives me more time off when I’m actually off, but then it seems like I’m never off. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ So, I dunno! It’s insanity, to say the least. Probably something to do with less personnel overall, since we’re always short.

  3. I said pretty much that same thing. It’s not the profession, it’s the person at the end of it all. There’s good and bad in every walk of life. Not much I can add beyond that really!

  4. Couldn’t agree more,Laura. Every job counts and it’s so important to recognize that and
yes, naps and strong coffee are a must on SundaysπŸ˜€πŸ˜Š

  5. Ha! Politicians! Highly overrated. An honest living is always commendable. It’s the person behind the job that defines the role. I’m laughing at the ai bloopers…ai art has given me many bizarre results. Sometimes I think it’s just trying to mess with us. 😁

    • Wow, β€œkindness is a killer of chaotic souls” also sounds like something, we’re gonna have to stop doing this, Peaceful Insanity! πŸ˜† and thank you so much Ernie, always appreciated πŸ™

  6. You know I had to come read it, right? I think you did an excellent job of explaining yourself and went more into the “appreciation” than I did <3. Great read!
