The Key

I’ve only seen it in my dreams.

I’d been searching for it for weeks.

The key.

To open the locked doorway in the clouds.

But…what would it reveal on the other side?

A hidden realm?

A transformation?

A compartmentalization of my mind that deserved to stay locked away forever?

…Nothing?

Was it symbolic? Tangible?

So many questions.

I floated up from the clouds and stood at the threshold of the locked door, my heart pounding.

This was it. I would finally have the answers.

I held the key in my hands, trembling, unsure if I was ready for what was to come next.

I peeked through the keyhole, to see if I could get a glimpse of what was on the other side before I altered my fate for good…

What if whatever was behind that door was something I wasn’t supposed to see?

What was to lie ahead for me?

I placed the key in the hole, turning it ever-so-slowly.

This was it.

This was the moment.

Suddenly, the door gave way and creaked open.

Feeling like an eternity.

As I go to look inside, I’m blinded by a white light.

The clouds give way and now I’m falling through the sky.

Falling.

Falling.

Crash.

Suddenly, I’m awake.

Snapped back to reality.

It happened again.

Will I ever glimpse the ending of this dream?

And most importantly-

Will I ever know the mystery of what lies beyond that door?

I wrote about a dream I had recently that featured a doorway in the clouds that was locked, and I’ve been searching for the key to said door (metaphorical or literal) for weeks now. Is this a sign that I will finally find it?

  4. Jim Morrison, named his musical group ” the doors” , due the doors of conscience(aldous huxley); he was a student of Literature in Berkley, Ca; his songs/poems were written about his meditation facing his shadows.

  6. Portraying frailty when the next phase is knocking is normal, especially when you think you aren’t ready. However, maybe it’s because there’s never a thing to tell you that you have enough strength to withstand whatever the next phase could bring. It’s full of mystery, yes, but you are full of might.

  8. A metaphor of a potential life changing situation and the unknown and like some unfinished business from a past life and energy with something or somewhere being triggered for you to either lock away or open another path out

  13. You had a great dream. I don’t know anything about interpretation of dreams. But it seems to me that you are going to have a pretty interesting future, so interesting and positive that it blinds you at the moment. Notice you have the key, have had all the time and will have, not only to this door but the others too. Dream girl, dream on and have a beautiful upcoming new day😴
