Word of Dreams – 07/31/24

Hello everyone!

Hope this week has been treating you well so far. It’s midweek already and it’s been quite a busy one! I’m finally recovered mostly from a flu I had that really knocked it out of me, and I’ve got a few new things on the horizon, so lots going on – but luckily no shortage of dreams!

Entering the portal to dreams…

Welcome to the next installment of Word of Dreams – where all are welcome to discuss dreams and any other spiritual insights they may have been experiencing, and whatever one is comfortable sharing.

I’d like to thank Chris and Stephanie once again for their beautiful posts on dreams. Without you guys, these discussions wouldn’t exist! 😊 I would also like to give a shout out to Michael who has been very active in dream discussions as well and has given lots of great information on dreaming in previous posts.

Without further ado, let’s jump right in!

Lost items

A lost camera – from Stephanie’s dream – holding symbolism and connection to something much greater?

Tangible or something more profound?

It seems the majority of us are still searching for things in dreams, whether that be an actual item or something that is non-tangible, symbolic even.

I feel this could sometimes be greater paths in life which we could be seeking, a new pathway in general, whether that’s a purpose, deeper knowledge, to clear or heal something, or maybe it could even be about a desire we want but we’re not sure we should go after.

Incubation method

Stephanie mentioned incubation in her last post, a technique I didn’t even know had a name but I find I employ almost accidentally at times. I do find this interesting as she mentioned also in one of her comments: “Dreams need space” to happen and I couldn’t agree with that more. I love the aspect of being open to dreams and the messages they share as well. In the incubation method mentioned, it states to think of a problem that you want solved or a question you want an answer to before bed. This leaves space for the dream to hopefully work out the problem, giving you a solution.

An ode to those lost shoes!

Clearing out clutter

If your mind is frazzled, if you’re anxious, if there’s other things taking up that space, you’re not always able to remember dreams, even if you’re entering into a REM cycle.

This was happening to me for a while.

How do we clear out the clutter, separate the clutter, dump the clutter, and have clear dreams?

It takes work, sometimes.

Like meditation and clearing our mind. Not always easy.

Chris mentions in his dream post a room with a ton of clutter. Is this clutter that seeps in from everyday life, a “brain dump,” if you will? Among the clutter is also important documents, a theme I’m fascinated by which I’ll mention shortly.

Allowing our brains to dump the clutter of everyday life for clearer dreaming

Recurring dreams

Lots of recurring dreams this week, ones that are difficult to put into words, unfortunately. I woke up and wrote a bunch of stuff down, only to view it later and none of it makes sense. A bit annoyed about that, but I need to stew on it longer before I feel comfortable enough revealing what it means. I can’t even visualize what I could possibly be dreaming about, or the connections. Does this ever happen to you?

I wrote it all down – but it doesn’t make sense and I can’t decipher it!

Kitten dreams

This week I’ve also had a dream about holding a cream-colored kitten. Most people will say, “Well yeah, you’re a cat fanatic.” (I’m also Catwoman, but that’s a different story altogether) but I don’t have any kittens around me and don’t own any cats that are cream-colored. I also had the pleasure of feeling very intensely in the dream it’s little claws digging into me as I held it – not maliciously, it’s just the way of cats sometimes.

Recently in my previous dream post I had a few bloggers mention they felt I could be on the verge of a transition or transformation, and it does seem to be so! So, thank you for that – I am most grateful!

Kitten dreams – and they are so cute, too!

Other planes and realms

I’m a big believer that we are able to travel to other planes and realms in our dreams. Chris mentions an incredibly elusive dream where he’s on another plane – in a plane even, watching a cycle of life, death, and birth. There’s a warning message given about not hanging around too long in this place. I’ve accessed a place like this, but not through dreams – in deep meditation. Are there things out there we’re not supposed to see? If so, why do we travel there to begin with? This concept has always been fascinating to me.

So many different pathways in life – and in dreams, too.

Documents, contracts, oh my!

Last topic for this post, and one I feel can also be quite ominous – I had a dream not too long ago about signing a document or a contract.

What are we signing away in our dreams? Are we making a karmic contract? Please…I don’t want any more of those.

Chris also mentions in his post about documents being in one of his dreams. These types of dreams make me so wary, and I’ve often tried to wake myself up when I’m presented with a document or something to read. Like a dream conversation, which you swear you’ll remember, it fizzles almost instantly upon waking. What the heck is my soul signing or agreeing to?! Stop it, just don’t. Is this type of unnerving dream behavior contractual for our next life or are we agreeing to karma? Does it mean nothing at all?

How it feels, and honestly, is it even remotely fair? How can I be held accountable for this?

Somehow, I doubt it.

So, what have you dreamt about this week that you feel comfortable sharing?

Have you read something or signed a document in a dream, only to wonder what the heck it was?

Have you woken up, written a dream down, only to view what you wrote later and have it not make any sense at all? Like it wasn’t even your dream?

Do you have recurring dreams?

When you dream, how do you separate the clutter “brain dump,” from the actual messages? (I know how I do it, I’m asking what your method is – always love to hear others’ approach).

Have you tried dream incubation? Has it helped you? If not, will you try it?

Thank you as always for your support and participation, it means the world to me! I’ve received some wonderful comments with positive feedback and contributions to these posts, and that is most greatly appreciated!

I’m still toying with the idea of a separate dream blog altogether – as this separates this aspect from my day-to-day blogging, and also others who aren’t as interested in reading about dreams. Will keep all of you updated on that if it comes to pass.

      • Well, as far as reoccurring dreams go, I had two of them this week that follow the themes I’ve had going on for quite some time. They ran days apart and I’m certain they are unrelated, but one of them that I mentioned on my own site was the returning monster/demon themed one I’ve had for something like 45 years now, each one a variation on the theme where I have this “being” in an impossible attic of a house, or in an impossible subbasement of a house, past some hidden stairs. Every time this one comes up, I know it is one of “those” dreams because there is a distinct smell associated with the “lair” that I can smell before I encounter the creature. I don’t normally have a sense of smell in my dreams that I can recall and this one reminds me of rotten citrus rinds, maybe the fruit as well. This time, I wasn’t in the mood to deal with it, so I sent it packing with a firm word filled with threat.

The other one has been going on for about 30 years. It’s a bit fuzzier, but I had a discussion in an old home with a woman with dark or black hair that has stopped by in my dreams since about the time I ran a fever than almost killed me. Her overall appearance changes in the way we all do as we go through life, picking up new fashions, trying new ideas — her appearance is not static. Sometimes it is small talk. Sometimes it is more profound. Sometimes she makes me follow her to different places, spaces or rooms. The location, like her appearance, is not static — the only common feature with these dreams is that it is the same woman. I don’t recall what we discussed. Last night, we were at a tattoo shop and she was helping me decide what I should write on my arms. It was a message she thought would be helpful to remember, but I forget the words (there goes the idea of remembering what I had tattooed on my arm) — the words may have been in another language (sometimes I can read things in English in dreams, but I don’t recall feeling like this was in English). The tattooist was a woman covered in tattoos and she wanted to get on with it. Not impatient, but not in the mood to wait any longer. She was gruff and no-nonsense. The woman who shows up regularly in my dreams sat back in a chair with her legs over the chair arm and winked before the tattooist began.

      • Thank you so much for your insightful comment as always! 😊 interesting that you have multiple dreams that are recurring but yet unrelated.
I hear you on this demon, and it’s insane it’s been around that long. Do you think this is manifestation of some sort of your mind, your subconscious, maybe a personality or a trauma, or an actual presence? Of course, whatever you feel comfortable sharing as that’s a very personal question! The smell sounds awful, I haven’t had too many smells in dreams, moreso feelings. That’s intense! Glad you ended up sending it away.
Fever dreams are interesting! I’ve had some weird ones while I was ill, definitely bordering on hallucinations. What do you think the woman is a representative of? Also, that’s interesting about the tattoo but then not remembering! Ahh, almost like the documents, ugh. I’ve had a while dream in French one time and I understood everything (I studied it for years but not enough to really be able to pick up an entire conversation without really hearing the words) so it’s amazing what our subconscious knows how to translate.

      • Re: the demon, that’s a good question. I’ve never been able to figure that one out. Mostly it resides *under* the house and there is the smell — those are the only two constants. Well, and that the house is always old circa Victorian period homes (but not the fancy ones, the peasant ones). I could very well have experienced some kind of trauma that triggered this, but if I did, it has been utterly locked out of my memories.

I’m not certain with the other dream who the woman represents. I’ve always associated her with a human personification of my spirit animal. She’s a bit of a trickster, but usually with a purpose — not that I can always figure out what the purpose actually is. She has humbled me over the years and has taught me acceptance. Unlike the demon dreams, there are no constants — dreams with her are not static and are ever-changing.

      • Haha peasant house 😆 I feel that one.
I feel you. I had a dark energy follow me for years, but I think it finally dissipated. I even had someone tell me they saw it standing over me once while sleeping. I’m hoping that stays gone. Not sure where it came from, either. Crap…I hope now that I mentioned it, it doesn’t crop back up.

I think that that particular person isn’t static is a good thing. Seems as though she could be like another guide, if this is different than the one you’ve mentioned before. Trickster is an interesting way to describe, I know the type. Maybe to show you lessons?

      • She’s the same personality as the other. She’s not real forthright in her purpose and I just have learned to accept her as she comes. I’ve learned to pay attention to her and that’s about the extent of my understanding. 🙂

  1. All of the above !!! First, I must remark on your images, Laura ❤ … so good, dreamy, and will have to pine over !!!! 😉 Gorgeous and want my dreams to appear like this (LOL) !!!! My small take away is that this post made me happy that I do dream, and I appreciate this topic and you … Incubation sounds very intriguing, and I believe subconsciously, I too have tried to access this technique and before sleep I will try and visualize what I need answered! Awesome work 🙂 ~ ❤

    • Awww thank you my lovely ❤️ always so happy to see you in my dream posts! I think we can all benefit from that sort of technique, and yes I would like my dreams to appear as such too 😆 sometimes the images are a little too dreamy, but also accurate in their own way! Let me know if the technique works for you, you don’t have to share anything you don’t want to of course, but I’ll definitely be curious to know if you come up with any solutions whilst dreaming! ❤️

  2. Glad you are starting to feel better from your flu.

I have not had any dreams since last mentioning that I can remember. Whether I have had some on some nights that I have been aware of half and half being awake and asleep, I don’t know. Last few nights I have been like that. But with how hot it is, it might be just with that.

    • Thank you, Liz! Much appreciated 😊
And that’s the way of it sometimes, sometimes we remember and sometimes we don’t, sometimes we just need sleep as well! Oh, I feel you on the heat, definitely doesn’t help at all with sleep! Ugh 😩

  3. It is very interesting to read your posts about dreams and ponder them in silence and that they give very much. But I myself know so little about these things that I just enjoy to read and look at your beautiful pictures. Thank you for giving topics which awaken thoughts🍒

    • Thank you! 😊 your kind words are always appreciated, and I see you get a lot of inspiration from your dreams as well, they definitely lend to our creativity so it’s nice to see you have that aspect in the music you make!

  4. I hardly ever remember my dreams and don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse. I do believe in out of body experiences however. I have been told most of my life I suffer from sleep apnea and it has never bothered me unless someone woke me up. I often think that when my breathing stops like that, that my spirit is travelling outside of the body. I don’t know or even have a clue about this but am interested in the subject.

    • Awesome comment, thank you so much for sharing Ernie! I think in some ways remembering definitely falls into that blessing/curse category, but when you do start to remember it opens up another world and it’s hard to go back from the insights you can receive, if you’re interested in being more open to it.

Very sorry to hear about the sleep apnea, have you done anything to correct it? I’m sure you’re entering REM cycles, we all do – they might just be more on the “light sleeper” side.

Ah, so what you speak of is like astral travel or OBE (out of body experiences) and they are definitely in a realm of its own, almost like lucid dreaming. The thing is, your body is awake but your mind/spirit is up and traveling through those different realms. Glad to hear you are interested! I can definitely touch more on astral traveling as it’s a subject that’s always fascinated me. Do you ever feel a floaty feeling just before sleep or do you just not remember the experience at all?

Upon waking, yes they fizzle out fast, so if you’re even having an inkling of something – it’s definitely there!

  5. My dreams are often my memories, or sometimes others’ memories. Or at least, when I can confirm them, if that makes sense. When I was a child, I used to dream of 4 friends a lot, and we used to have adventures, running away from an unseen danger. It was not until later that I realized that they were my alters — two that have since drifted away.

    • Thank you so much for sharing, Tash. Your dreams sound fascinating. Not sure how much you’d like to share of course and that’s always very much deeply respected, but I am always interested to hear about your dreams and what your experiences have been if you want to talk about. 🙏 Do you know why the alters drifted away?

      Liked by 1 person

      • I am unsure. I have only ever met them in childhood in seemingly lucid dreams. I think all of us serve some purpose in our joint existence, and perhaps the need for two had faded.

Then again, I thought it was just me and C left, but then Abi showed up unexpectedly, one day. I do not know why.

      • Very interesting! Yes, they must serve different purposes, that absolutely makes sense. As we go through our processes, some things leave us, and others come through

  6. Thanks Laura for this captivating edition of Dreams.

Recurring dreams happen a lot to me and the same as for you, most of it seems to be clutter, things which the brain needs to proceed and “clean the system”.

Writing down a dream immediately never quite worked for me and I had the same results, total gibberish. I can only tell what really works for me, is writing the dreams down, one hour after waking up. The longer I wait the more it fades away, unfortunately.

You asked two interesting questions about other realms. “Are there things out there we’re not supposed to see? If so, why do we travel there to begin with?” I would say, yes there are definitely things which we shouldn’t see, but in a deep dreaming state or meditation, we can access “hidden” planes.

The second question is tricky. In these mentioned relaxed states of mind we are able to voyage to other planes, but then we get to see things which we can’t comprehend. This is a cosmic joke, the higher beings allow us in, because our minds can’t grasp the meaning of it, anyway. Just let them play around, like toddlers in a sandbox 😉

Finally, signing contracts, but we have no clue what we signed up for. A lot of times in RL, I signed contracts which I’m ashamed to say hadn’t read in every single detail and I thought:”I just signed my life away.” So maybe this is sort of seeping into our unconscious and
reappearing in a dream state. Does that make sense?

A long answer, but then again there were a lot of interesting topics in your post. Thank you Laura 🙏

    • Thank you so much Chris for your insightful comment, it’s definitely one of the reasons I love doing these posts, hearing from you and your thoughts, especially with how many profound dreams you have!

Interesting I never necessarily thought of recurring dreams that way but it does make sense to purge. I think it can be healing as well as traumatic experiences that are played out in dreams are trying to “clean that” as you said and become whole again.

Thank you for letting me know about your process. I’m afraid I will forget after an hour or so. I did have something come to me after waking today that I wrote down about an hour later so we’ll see if it sticks!

I think we can access hidden planes too, your dream is still sticking out quite heavily in my mind on what a cool and amazing yet scary experience it is. 😆

Never thought of signing contracts in dreams as it is in real life, of course they do overlap. It makes me nervous but your interpretation of it gives me a little bit of calm 😂 it definitely makes sense. I worry this is something sometimes I’ll have to deal with in a next lifetime lol
Thank you so much 🙏 very happy to read your response as always 😊

Yeah, that plane dream left an echo. Still quite don’t know how to interpret this whole dream. “Access hidden planes”, something profound to think about 🤔

  7. These images are really something. I’ve never seen such beautiful clutter in my life; would be hard for me to let go of too! ; ) Love the shoes image and the mangroves, so specific!!

Dreaming with a kitten! Precious! I do wonder whether the kitten is a tangible ‘new life’ kind of dream gift.

And yes, I definitely reach for my notebook or phone notes, thinking that I was very good about shorthand will absolutely understand it in the morning, only to find inadequate notes or gibberish! It used to really bother me, because it can feel like I forgot something important, some KEY.

I take some comfort in Elizabeth Gilbert’s ted talk about illusive genius, though.

Chris had some incredible dreams last week. That plane one is preoccupying. 🙂 I like your associations here about that, very interesting too. And I haven’t really thought about documents in dreams, not sure I’ve had many of those actually! Hmmm

    • Thank you for coming back here 😊 always love to hear your thoughts ❤️ especially since I know we aren’t feeling so great lately.
Haha, I know, that clutter is pretty nice! I suppose I could’ve made it more cluttery 😆
I hope the kitten is a new road new horizon type of thing! We’ll see!
The notebook or notes app on the phone is driving me nuts. I wrote down something so incredibly detailed that I can’t even understand what the heck it means. Very frustrating! It does seem like it could be super important, but it almost doesn’t feel like my writing.
Thanks for the link! Need to check that out! 😊
Chris’ dreams are insane. That plane one really threw me off! I would love to see it, and yet, it’s not for us to see, possibly, is it? Haha

Documents in dreams scare me. lol

      • Because sometimes it just doesn’t make sense. Oddly enough I’ve had two wedding dreams this week. Not mine, lmao …that’s all I can glean from it

        Liked by 1 person

      • Wedding! Anywhere they could have been sparked from? I’m so curious that I could have answered today’s prompt with “what weddings mean in Laura’s dreams”, if I hadn’t answered already. 😀

      • No clue, but I had a past thing where it stemmed around someone else I know getting married so not sure if that’s why it’s coming up, or what. I think maybe it signifies new beginnings? But a weird one to have twice in a week, and I don’t have those types of dreams often

  8. The Power of Dreams”

Dreams are not just a collection of fleeting images or fragmented thoughts, they hold the key to deeper truths within us. They offer us a glimpse into a world that exists beyond the physical, where our subconscious speaks, and our desires unfold. Just like words, dreams have the ability to shape our reality, influence our actions, and guide us on a path of self-discovery. Through the lens of a dream, we explore the vast landscapes of our mind, sometimes finding clarity, sometimes facing our fears. It is in these moments that we realize the true power of our dreams, not just as illusions, but as a mirror of the soul’s deepest longings.
