World of Dreams #3 – 07/10/2024

Hello everyone, and Happy Wednesday to you all! Hope you’ve been having a pleasant week.

Portal to the Dreamscape

Without further ado (and because yours truly has work tonight), I’d like to welcome you to the World of Dreams, where discussion is open for anyone who wants to write about their dreams, participate in analyzing dreams, offer interpretations, or pretty much anything else you’d like to discuss regarding dreaming, sleep, spiritual experiences you’ve had, lucid dreams, or anything, really.

An entire world of possibilities

I’m going to cut right to it and say I’ve had a wonky week with sleeping and remembering dreams in general, but you probably already are aware due to some of my um… complaining about work, sleep schedule and the like. πŸ˜‰

However, that’s part of the reason why I started this – to hopefully remember more regardless of what’s going on externally and to document some of the dreaming journey not only for myself, but others as they’d like to contribute.

Venturing down the rabbit hole of dreams

I would like to thank Chris for writing his beautiful post regarding the dreams he’s been having, and also Stephanie for always writing about her dreams, which are always so vivid and detailed.

As Chris mentions so appropriately in his post, dreams and entering into the Dreamscape is like “falling down a rabbit hole” and there is no other way to describe it better, really. It’s like stepping into a portal away from “reality” and upon waking, truly feeling like you’ve had an otherworldly experience. In one of the dreams in his post, he mentions traversing through different cities and meeting different kinds of people. I’ve had similar dreams, but it’s not necessarily through cities but what feels like different realms in the Sky. πŸ˜‰

Haha, and then sometimes people show up that I do know, we converse for a bit, but even as his post so well articulates, “unfortunately upon waking up, some wording is lost in a shadowy corner of my mind and rots in the dreamworld.” Dream conversations can be so tricky to remember at times.

A city of dreams

I’ve often known people who have a “meeting place” in their dreams for where they meet other souls. Is this something common or akin to meeting people in real life? Or are we just going through the different dimensions, searching for that elusive item, seeking that unknown thing – but I swear once we actually find whatever the heck that is, we’ll absolutely know it! Do you know what you’re searching for when you’ve had those “looking for something” dreams?

Chasing the moon, or something else?

It seems we are drawn into this world, or at least I know I am sometimes, as an escape. Of course, our mind is working through the motions of the day to relieve whatever it is we may be repressing – I’ve often been told these are β€œventing dreams.” You just need to get it out and it spills over into your dreaming brain.

Thankful for such, as it opens up solutions a lot of the times to problems and lends to our own creativity often, sometimes which we don’t even realize.

A bit of nightmare fuel- even they can lend us insights into our subconscious mind

Stephanie also mentions in her beautiful post here the sensation of β€œfeeling the wind.” This is always such an amazing concept to me – feeling in dreams. Do you wake up sometimes and feel like you’ve actually been there? One of the common elements I often feel in dreams is water. I’ve mentioned it once or twice, but a wonderful dream I have often is I’m flying through the air, going up, up, and further up, almost to the point where I feel like I can no longer reach any higher, and then I’m zooming downwards (falling, I suppose) but it’s the equivalent of going down a water slide.

A split second of panic washes (haha) over me as I’m afraid I may plummet into the ground, but then I look below and see water. As I come closer, I’m elated in knowing I’ll be submerged in this deep abyss, which might be scary to some. I drop down finally, almost to the very bottom of said body of water. As I float up, I feel a huge sense of calm and peace.

Water dreams – do you find comfort in them, or overwhelm?

Another one I think we’ve all touched on either in comments or a few of our own posts, is musical dreams. I’ll often dream of hearing a song in my dream, and then hear it on the radio or playing randomly. Even if you don’t dream, you must’ve had the experience at some point where you were thinking of a song, or a song was stuck in your head, and suddenly it plays on the radio or you hear it randomly while shopping in your neighborhood grocery store. There is some interesting phenomenon about this, but if it’s happened to you – I’d like to know your thoughts and experiences regarding such. I can’t always remember conversations, but I know once I hear a song in dreams, I’ll often look it up and feel the lyrics must pertain in some way to what I’m currently going through.

Music in dreams – how does it play into our waking lives?

As for lucid dreams, we’ve touched on those – but they really open up so much creativity-wise. I find that I can only really have these dreams when I’m in a lighter sleep state, (as Stephanie mentioned in her post, with the WBTB method) but I have to have ample time as that dang alarm always plays into it, and then everything is lost. I actually often find I have most of my lucid dreams while napping.

Conscious unconscious dreaming

Now, what about you?

Dream experiences you’d like to share?

Do you ever have “venting dreams?”

What about things that you’ve dreamt recently playing out into your waking life?

How about songs you’ve heard in your head/in dreams recently that start playing randomly and you think, “hey, I was just thinking about this song?”

Are there times where someone sends you a message because they’re picking up on your vibe and you’ve already answered their question .02 seconds before they actually send you the message?

Some people really are in tune, whether they realize it or not.

Sweet dreams! As this post goes live, I will hopefully be in bed catching some lucid dreams.

I appreciate your comments and participation in this more than you’ll ever know!

  1. I actually take magnesium at night so that my dreams are less vivid and memorable but last night I dreamed I was drinking a can of Budweiser at work (I work in a college) and someone reported me and I got a ticket. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

    • Interesting! I had no idea magnesium lessens the vividness of dreams, so I learned something new today! Thank you 😊 and haha 🀣 that’s a funny dream kinda lolol. Thanks for sharing! 😊

  2. You may remember in one of my blog posts when I woken up and I got a Robbie Williams song, ‘Feel’ in my head.
The way I felt when I woken up, I wonder if I was singing it.

Before that, I had an actor who I recognised and was my dentist when I entered the room. Lol

I don’t usually remember dreams. But that was two dreams I mentioned on my blog.

I have had another dream in the past month not mentioned until now, where I have woken up from an argumentative dream. Who it was with and what it was about, I do not know. That is vague. But whatever I was argumentative about in my dream had a passionate feeling about it.

    • Thanks for sharing, Liz! 😊 it sounds like you do have pretty intense dreams when you remember them. I’m trying to get better at remembering which is why I’m doing these posts. I used to remember all the time but my work schedule has been extremely wonky since January. Your dreams definitely sound like they sometimes have a message in them. Pretty cool and thanks for sharing 😊 I’ll definitely love to know if you have more that you remember if you feel comfortable sharing πŸ™ music dreams are certainly interesting as well.

  3. These images are beyond dreamy ❀ and worth meditating on! I always have weird dreams but love when I wake up with a song in mind πŸ˜‰ … Yes, I too have to go look up the lyrics (Universe’s way of getting my attention or getting me to remember the message intended)! Odd one the other night, but a tree uprooted and landed on my house. Sure, would have rather been hanging out in the clouds diving with you!

    • Awww ❀️ thank you for sharing! Omg tree roots…this seems so symbolic. Are you feeling β€œuprooted” in some way? I know that sounds like β€œok, duh” but the house dreams always seem to represent self or our inner workings sometimes. Thank you for sharing ❀️ I feel the same about the songs, they definitely are there to get our attention in some ways! So do appreciate you letting us into your beautiful mind a bit πŸ™ thank you 😊 let me know what you think. And yes, come soar along the clouds with me, please!

      • Big time, … but have never felt grounded! Ever … hahaha! Meant for the clouds with you … oh several diving dreams and one I popped into was right out of a movie or past life! Went to bed as a normal person and entered dream land in a helicopter at night and the dude, commander, someone important probably, screaming at me to jump straight, don’t get shot and I DID! Shot into the unknown waters and could feel the depth while trying not panic out of my mind. Swam as fast as I could to a bodega with a Budda fishing. He was so surprised to see me! Woke up! Getting ready for work that morning was exhausting and mind-blowing ~ LOL (Just another day)

      • Oh wow! That’s an intense and vivid dream! I’ve had one dream I remember very vividly about chasing and running and being shot, what a strange and awful sensation, and yes, so many dreams wake up and stay with us throughout the day! That definitely sounds very movie-esque…a past life? It could be! Have you ever thought of doing any past life regression? I always feel like things were obsessed with in this life are glimpses of what we lived in our past incarnations.
And I get it, my head is in the clouds often πŸ˜† I’m working on my grounding more and more. And oddly enough, people say I come across as grounded. I guess it works, sometimes? lol πŸ˜‚

      • Never have done past life regression and can’t be hypnotized … I’ve been shot too, such a horrible feeling and almost everything nightmarish you can think of! Makes us well rounded (LOLOL) !!! You need not change a thing about you! Awesome and beautiful souls are so hard to find and come by πŸ™‚ !!!! Love talking dreams and my fav topic! Ps. oh and some of “those” dreams stay for life! ❀

      • I swear I can’t be hypnotized either, I’ve only done it a few times and I still feel like I’m β€œaware” so…studying more into it though.
And holy crap 😳 I’m so sorry to hear that! You poor beautiful soul πŸ’” definitely never deserved that!
Yes, these intense traumas make us well-rounded, but I definitely think that’s one no one should ever have to go through ❀️ and yours is a true beautiful soul, a once in a lifetime meet! Very blessed to know you. 😊 thank you for your beautiful being and presence, always!

  4. As I have said before I don’t remember dreams but I have thought of music randomly and heard it a short while later. That’s really about as far as it goes for me lol

  5. Brava Laura, this is a fabulous installment of your dream series. And a big THANK YOU for the mention and citations.

Now where do I start? The pictures are out of this world, so much detail. I love all of them. The water dream image is an interpretation of a very famous Japanese artist Hokusai (1760–1849), from his very famous series, 36 views of Mount Fuji. And this image is a reinterpretation of Image 1, The Great Wave of Kanagawa. Awesome.

Sky dreams are the best and I envy you in a way for having them. I had them years ago, but now I’m grounded. Seeking things that’s a huge theme and I wonder almost every night what I’m seeking and why.

Venting dreams seem to me a necessary tool to get things, which could poison your mind with too much negatives or potential trauma, out of your system. Its a sort of release to dump the unpleasant stuff.

Feelings in dreams can be extremely intense. This subject could be an entire post, difficult to resume that in two sentences. I once felt pure joy in a dream when I had finally won the lottery, several millions, made it. What a disappointment when I woke up and realized: β€œOnly a dream”.

Water in dreams is always welcome, you know that. And like you, I feel so calm, at peace and relaxed whilst dreaming about water, waves, bubbles, you name it. I like this dream series a lot Laura, it’s a wonderful installment. Also big thanks to Stephanie for writing with such a passion and knowledge about dreams.

    • And thank you to you Chris, for your amazing post! You gave so much insight into your brilliant dreaming mind, I only wish my dream recall was as easy as yours (it used to be – hoping to get back to that!)

I definitely understand you on the β€œfeelings” and so many dream elements being too much to write in a simple comment, a post is often so much easier, so I am so grateful and appreciative that you are sharing what you are πŸ™
Thanks for the kind words about the images lol πŸ˜† and I think we all know the AI can have some funny bloopers.
I actually didn’t know this was based off of a piece! Thank you, I’ll have to research more into it.

Sky dreams are awesome. In fact, I do often say my head is in the clouds, up in the air. Maybe I do need to work more on grounding actually now that you mention it, you seem to be on foot mostly, so you definitely are very grounded in the literal sense in the dreams as well.
I think venting dreams are necessary too. I think I have them in terms of anxiety mostly. It’s definitely a way for us to work them out of our system and as you put it perfectly, β€œdump the unpleasant stuff”

Whew! This was indeed much longer than intended, but it’s nice to connect with someone so passionate about dreams! Thank you so much again and I can’t wait to hear more of yours 😊

  6. Well, first, I almost want to laugh out loud because you have had a tough week and no sleep, yet knock my socks off with such a generous and lively, magical and oh so dreamy post!

  7. Second, I think our subconscious minds store up things along the way, so that even during times when it seems we aren’t dreaming, if something is important, it gets tucked away. Buddhists even say there’s a ‘storehouse consciousness’, which I’ve always liked the idea of. ❀

I do wish you a deep enough sleep, and sleeping in enough, to reach refreshment!

Your water dreams and the ways you describe them, are inspiring! Most of the dreams I've had where I'm IN water have been somewhat stressful. I still remember one full of explosions that were causing giant waves and me to keep relocating. I also had a tsunami dream before the event in Japan years ago, although I wasn't in the water for that one. I was eating breakfast with my boss at a rooftop restaurant near the ocean and a giant wave threatened to take us. We ran inside. At the time, I thought I was dreaming it because of the famous Japanese wave painting, but when the tsunami happened just a week or so later my jaw dropped. It isn't the kind of thing one can really talk about with non dream-practitioner sorts, because it feels like forcefully connecting the dots, but deja vu cam always feel that way, I suppose, leaving an openness.

In the post Chris wrote, there's that sense of never arriving or never finding, and I think that's part of the dream experience more often than not, but I'm not sure. It always strikes me as very special if I actually find or finish something. πŸ™‚

    • This is too right. During the day while driving and I think I’ve said before even when I enter sort of that β€œtrance” and then messages come out. It does happen, even not in dreams. So I really resonate with this β€œstorehouse consciousness” thank you for sharing that, I’m definitely going to look it up! 😊
And thank you. I hope you are always getting enough sleep too ❀️ it’s so necessary.
Sorry to hear your water dreams are stressful 😒 and I can only imagine why! The fact that the tsunami happened after you dreamt it – man that gave me chills. Could seem like the realm of prophetic, if you’d like to take it there, and I know you definitely have them! But that’s a hard and scary one to think of. Thanks so much for sharing that here 😊 Deja vu definitely wracks my brain almost everyday and I really do think it stems from these dreams.
Oh yes, I agree. With the β€œfinding” and β€œseeking” I’ll sometimes wake up and be like β€œso what was it?!” lol πŸ˜‚

      • Yeah omg! The shower! Duh! Didn’t I mention that months ago πŸ˜† so true too, thanks for the reminder. It’s been awhile since I took a good meditative shower. Everything has been rush, then back to sleep. I asked again to cut down my days at work, so let’s see, fingers crossed 🀞
Thanks for the link. Once things calm down a bit here will definitely read. 😊

Overnights. So…lol thank you 😊 I hope it does work out (there’s a new job in the making so we’ll see if they get their act together and are any better!) lol

  8. Sometimes dreams are just dreams for me. We wave at each other and then the dream slips away. Nothing profound, no messaging, just slice of life stuff with a twist. They fade like morning mists. That was most of this week.

I had a few of my reoccurring themes over the week. I cannot really discuss those. Shadow-work that doesn’t lend itself to discussion.

I have had venting dreams in the past, but they have diminished in recent years as I’ve learned to manage my anger better. Usually, it is someone or something in the dream trying to get my ire up when it happens these days, and I just am disinterested in succumbing to anger. I’m fairly certain my meditative/mindfulness practices I picked up from hanging out at Zen centers and have picked up from previously doing tai chi/baduanjin have been the key in limiting those kinds of dreams.

Dreams playing out in life afterwards? Not lately. But I’m also not looking for that kind of dream.

    • Thanks so much for sharing, I really do appreciate your perspective! 😊
Yes, that’s true. Sometimes the dreams don’t mean anything and we know it deep down they are β€œjust dreams”
Shadow work definitely is so important, and something for our inner self we always need to be working on I feel. Of course, whatever you feel comfortable with sharing 😊 I do so appreciate it.
Good point on managing anger. I think in my line of work, I let a lot of stress build up and that’s where the β€œventing” comes from. Definitely such a good idea to pick up meditative practice and mindfulness awareness in that when we feel more grounded and centered, we don’t have those types of dreams as much. This is something I’m definitely working on, so thanks for the reminder πŸ™

  9. I’ve had a few ‘weird’ dreams. One was of someone who had died and although the story is too long to tell here but basically she let me know she was ok. The other really weird one though, was when I was flying – as a bird. I looked to my arm and saw I actually had wings. I could tell they were large wings, a predatory bird of some kind and I could feel the wind in my feathers. I could see land passing underneath me and just as I thought “this is soo cool”, I snapped out of it! Make of that what you will!

    • Thanks so much for sharing! Those do sound quite interesting! The one where your loved one let you know they’re ok is very profound 😊 thanks for sharing. The one of flying sounds amazing! Sounds like such an amazing dream to be flying and remember it! 😊 thanks for sharing! πŸ™
