What is your favorite genre of music?

I do have an appreciation for all kinds of music, for which I am very thankful. There’s no music genre I absolutely dislike, either.

If I had to narrow it down, it would most likely be:

Rock/Metal (all types!)

Take me to a concert any day, but I’m too old for moshing and standing elbow to elbow with all the sweaty bodies who smell like god knows what baked in 48 hours of non-showered filth. Also, I’m good with having beer spilled on me. One too many times!

I’m not gonna list out all the bands but System of a Down, Nightwish, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, 311, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Nirvana, are at the top of the list.

If only I had continued playing the piano when I was younger…not that I would be any good now, either 🤣

I’m not going to list every composer out there because that would take far too long, but I’ll just say this…

Anything played in a Zumba class

Now I just need the Zumba instructor in front yelling at me to “move your body, girl!” Yes, yes…I’m not 20 anymore 😆 and uhh, don’t look too closely at the eyes please…thanks! I’m at work tonight and don’t have time to generate more images 🤣

If it gets my blood pumping and I can move my body to it, all the better.

  4. Hey Laura😊 – System of a Down….Great band😎✌️. Here is one to try out for you: Meshuggah. A Swedish metal band that has been on the go for a long time. I have seen loads of rock & metal bands, last year I took my Son to see Meshuggah😲…best band I have ever seen, by far, it almost made seeing Megadeth after them disappointing… and I love megadeth😄.     • Ohhhh I’ve seen them!! 🤣 They played at a festival here! And yes, very good! Your son and you have great taste in music! Haha, and I’m also very familiar with the term “Meshuggah” as well, LOL – it was a term my stepdad used very often.
      I also like Bill Burr, hahaha 😂 thank you for sharing the links! I’m gonna go listen now!
      I wish SOAD would start playing shows again! The last time I saw them was in 2007 when they headlined Ozzfest! Man! Miss that band…they play every once in a while but it’s few and far between!

      • Ah you have seen them Laura! Good stuff😄. I am preaching to the initiated then✌️. Yes, SOAD are an ace band, one of those rare bands with a totally unique style. Not sure how much you are into the heavier stuff….but two more good ones on that style list are : Gojira👍, and Lamb of God✌️. Thanks, yes we have a very eclectic taste, from the extreme heavy, to the extremely light. When I am working Vangelis is my favourite, it puts me somewhere else😌! And being a guitar player, I raised myself on the blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan & Johnny Winter….its all good!😊👍✌️. Keep on enjoying it Laura & have a wonderful day…Jay😊

  6. Great boots! 🙂 I don’t skew as heavy as you do, but this is great. For me, heavy metal would classify as car music, I think. LOL trying to classify and categorize things makes my head spin. I always want to add qualifiers.

    • That’s very true about categories…And being at work, I didn’t even list half the stuff, there’s definitely easy listening, a whole bunch of 80s-90s stuff I love! I just went with “most of what I’ve seen in concert” haha! 😆 it really blows my mind how much I probably could’ve added.

  10. Earlier today I gave myself the task of whittling down an unmanageable playlist (while editing) into something more streamlined. From forty odd tracks to: one track by Evanescence, two by Duran Duran, and a brace and a half from Amy Winehouse—then played it on repeat for the rest of the day.

    I very rarely listen to music with words while working—kinda worked out alright today.

    I love classical music too, especially Paganini, Brahms, Chopin, Tarrega, and Schubert, Trio op. 100 – Andante con moto 🙂
