Get to Know You #29

Hey everyone! Happy 4th and I hope you’re all doing well on this Thursday! I decided to participate in Kymber’s Get to Know You questions today. Normally, I just post my answers in the comments, but I really like when she does these and the questions (especially about coffee, LOL) deserve their own post because…why not?

Happy 4th of July! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

1. How do you like your coffee or tea? β˜•

As a lover of both (if you don’t know that by now, where have you been?), I’m not a coffee snob by any means, but I could be if I wanted. I’ll drink whatever, but to a certain extent, if that makes any sense. Let’s just say, I don’t vibe with the weak and gross Maxwell House junk they brew at the job overnight, but out of needing to be caffeinated, I will doctor it up as much as I can and make it work LOL 🀣

From Calusa Coffee Roasters, my own photo – yes, I take photos of my coffee sometimes πŸ˜‰

Usually to start my day, I do prefer to have a shot of espresso or 2, which I’ll often make at home. I love Naviera and also CafΓ© La Carreta. Then, I’ll have a “regular” coffee, usually with whole milk and a small amount of brown sugar (trying to cut out sugar completely, if I can). I don’t do black coffee,* but will if I have to. I have a single serve coffee machine that uses K-cups, but I also use grounds from time to time. I love CafΓ© Bustelo, some varieties of Dunkin, Caribou Coffee, but will try anything that is recommended, (hint, hint).

There’s a few coffee shops by me that I absolutely love: Aroma Joes and Calusa Coffee Roasters. SO GOOD. If I’m out, I’ll usually order a latte, a Caramel Macchiato, or a con leche of some sort. I’m also a fan of iced coffee, can’t always drink hot in this blazing weather. πŸ”₯

For tea, I have a ton of sleepy time, dreamy, and relaxation teas (Valerian, Chamomile, Skullcap, Kava Kava), but I also enjoy a good black tea, Earl Grey preferably. I’ll try to drink Green Tea on occasion because I know it’s so good for you, but it’s harder than I’d like to admit lol. I’m generally not a fan of any flavored teas, but again, I’ll try it if it comes recommended.

2. How far will you venture, dressed only in your pajamas? Just to get the mail, or all the way to the grocery store?

This really depends, LOL. Did I go to bed wearing a presentable enough t-shirt and yoga pants or shorts that aren’t too “out there” and pajama-y? I’ve been known to run down to the store super quick early in the AM for milk (for the coffee, of course!) and as long as I don’t look like a total basket case, I might make it presentable and just go for the sake of time and needing whatever in a pinch. If it looks like pajamas, though – probably not.

I feel like this is probably acceptable, better than my doppelgΓ€nger in the background without any shoes! And apparently the grocery store in AI land only sells milk in the cold section! πŸ™ƒ

3. How long do you think you could last in The Hunger Games?

I’ll confess – I’ve only seen one of the movies (the first), and only parts of the others – however, and this isn’t to toot my own horn, but I do think I could last a considerable amount of time. Maybe not down to the very end, but close enough. I’ve spent a good amount of time wandering around in the woods alone, gone camping plenty of times, been on numerous hunting trips, and know how to defend myself pretty well with multiple varieties of weapons. LOL.

Just don’t look too closely at the eyes…COUGH

Thanks, Kymber! I really enjoyed this one. 😊

* Bad News, Coffee Drinkers: You Might Be a Psychopath if You Like Your Coffee Black – the link is about a study done with the correlation between drinking black coffee and having antisocial personality traits, LOL – all in good fun, guys – don’t get offended πŸ˜‰

Wow, this might have been the longest post I’ve ever made regarding coffee!

  2. Total psychopath then … I used to have dessert in a cup, but calories, allergies, and abnormalities ruined it! I love the taste of caffeine, but fresh mountain water is an elixir like no other. I’m learning to enjoy effects vs tastes. Love hearing your preferences and finding commonalities. My money is on you, Laura ❀ for hunger games but won’t throw you in as tribute (lol)!

    • πŸ˜‚ 🀣 and see, that’s why I love to prove these things wrong, cause there’s absolutely no way your sweet, beautiful, amazing soul could ever be classified as such! Ahhh, and I feel ya on allergies and such. Calories from coffee can and do certainly add up! (Why I’m trying to eliminate sugar!) haha, and thank you for not throwing me in as tribute!! 😜 I wouldn’t blame you if you did, haha! You are the best! ❀️

  3. Girl, I feel you on the coffee. And yours sounds so good! I’ll be looking for recommendations through your post here. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I think your coffee shops are cool, too. I’m with you on the tea also. I’m sure you look marvelous going to the store.

Doppelganger! I hope she never wears shoes so I can tell you apart!

OMG! You got the skillz for The Hunger Games. I’m not even close, and I admire your accomplishments. I think you could beat it. 🌺

Thank you so much for answering the questions! I really appreciate it, and I love your answers! 🌺🩷

The doppelgΓ€nger is just a tad creepy, can’t believe she showed up like that! 🀣
And thank you, dunno about beat – let’s hope to god I never have to find out LOL.

      • I’d end up writing another volume in the posts and I’m sure it would bore everyone to hell. If you ever get to Seattle’s Capitol Hill district, check out Cafe Vivace. Their lattes are like hot chocolate (even unsweetened).

I miss crafting espresso. It’s the one job I truly loved doing and I was lucky that Vivace was willing to train me before I moved back to the Minneapolis area. One day, who knows… Maybe I’ll return to it.

      • Sounds like something you really liked! I can understand that, and maybe you will return to it! I’ve been wanting to go back to Washington so I definitely would make this stop, it sounds amazing! Thanks for the recommendation, sounds like it’s hard to come by. Really good coffee is like heaven-sent, nothing truly beats it.

  4. You stole my hat! 🀨🀨
    Re: Coffee
I usually default to Bustelo too, but I like Eight O’ Clock pretty well too. Especially their darker ones. If I am feeling really silly I’ll pick up some Death Wish from time to time.
Cream and sugar. Not milk if I can help it.

  5. At home it is only decaf tea and coffee. No particular brand I stick with.

When out I don’t think of asking for decafinated tea. But I don’t have many. Usually a mug or two at the most.
Same with coffee, I forget to ask for decaf. But it’s only one mug which when out, I only have it as a latte with oat milk or soya milk. I really have to think about the second one if considering another because caffine doesn’t doesn’t really do me good from a second one. I have to consider how I am to judge whether that second one is worth it.

At home or out, I mostly drink without milk because I have been so used to having to do this when dairy-free alternative milk wasn’t readily available. So a habit.

I mostly have normal black tea at home. But I do have or try a variety of other teas. So that’s where certain brands come in that I only drink because I have come across some brands I don’t like of one drink. Yet that same drink but a different brand it was so different and I did not dislike.

    • Interesting! Thanks for sharing. So many people have very different tastes when it comes to coffee and tea and what their preferences are. 😊 I don’t usually ever drink decaf, I will enjoy it on occasion but I think I need the caffeine or else I’ll get a migraine or a pounding headache lol πŸ˜†

      • I am not a serious coffee drinker. I can’t drink it strong. But I don’t have it weak either.

Went I went totallly decaf at home and bearing in mind I was mostly just a tea drinker I felt no effects going decaf. But when I was at a friend drinking plenty of tea, I fell ill later in the day and had a migraine. All that time drinking tea, I thought I was drinking decaf tea because the person mentioned they would get decaf in for me for next time I come. Turned out I was drinking normal tea. I was totally out of it. Had to sleep. Felt sick from migraine. That person felt guilty obviously for seeing how ill I looked.

  6. Oh what’s this question about. I will have to do some snooping.
As a tea lover, I like to have it after breakfast to get recharged for the day. You can’t separate Indians from their tea. Lol. Have a great day ahead πŸ’•

  8. Wonderful post, Laura! πŸ™‚
I’ll admit, I can’t stand any coffee other than true black, without sugar or milk… In the past, I tended to add some chili to it, as I love it strong and fiery πŸ˜€
I totally agree with the rest of your answers πŸ™‚
