A gift, a curse

Daily writing prompt
How important is spirituality in your life?

*laughs diabolically*

Hahaha.

Hah!

I can’t decide if this is going to be the shortest post I’ve ever made on this blog, or one with lots of yammering.

What do y’all think?

Meditation, great for spiritual growth, and the bane of my existence, or anyone whose mind is always raging with thoughts constantly πŸ’

I’ve always been enraptured by spirituality. Yes, my entire life. It is something I have simultaneously run screaming FROM and marched blindingly TOWARDS like an idiot.

Confused by it, yet deeply within it. Trying to understand it. Not believing things I’ve been told time and time again, but knowing in my heart and soul they are true.

Finding my place amongst all the utter bullshit that really is out there written in the name of “spirituality,” (and let’s be honest, there’s a lot!)

One thing is for sure – I abhor the term β€œempath.” It is overused excessively and more often than not, in the wrong context, by the wrong people. And holy crap! I can’t believe AI actually spelled a word correctly! πŸ˜‚

In a way, spirituality is that riddle I am always trying to crack, that mystery I will never solve, that enigma I have quite literally been born into.

And yet, I have solved it – time and time again. I know exactly what I’m supposed to be doing, and wherein the path lies.

That doesn’t mean I still don’t have a ton to learn, and I’ve been practicing for years.

Sometimes we spend multiple lifetimes over and over searching for the answer

I’ve often thought of recounting my spiritual journey on here, and in many ways I have, just in bits in pieces. Fragments of my soul, if you will. A post with it’s entirety combined would be something people would be reading for days, and lets be honest, ain’t nobody got time for all that (and some attention spans are the equivalent of goldfish anyways, cough cough).

Nor do I want, or care to bare my soul in every way. Some pieces of ourselves should remain private, after all.

I connect with the moon, and she whispers her secrets to me…can you hear them? What is she telling you?

To me, spirituality means connecting with something higher than yourself. That can be in many and multiple ways and to each persons’ own interpretation of such.

It could be through a contemplative minute or hour, through prayer, meditation, it could be through a song, it could be through a dream.

Visions you have as you step into your car before your long drive.

Things you hear with your head and heart (not just your ears).

Looking up at the sky even is a spiritual moment for me. A time to pause, reflect, regenerate, and just be. This is why I always share so many of these pictures often with you

So many things speak to us and send us messages in our daily lives. And even if you have no belief whatsoever, I’ve yet to meet someone who hasn’t had an uncanny coincidence, connection, or situation happen to them in some way.

It just depends on how they’d like to define it or explain it.

For me, I’d like to continue growing into the best possible version of myself, for myself, and to connect with the highest level I can.

It takes many years, and it takes dedication to be as such, and we often need reminders to stay on track, and nothing is often achieved in just one shot, it ebbs and flows.

Most people who have been reading me for a while know I’ve been studying mediumship for more than a minute. Maybe studying is the wrong word, more like β€œdeveloping,” and β€œpracticing.”

Shifting dimensions, realms, and realities, the veil between worlds is thinner than you think

There’s always been a natural proclivity for it – which does stem from dreams, but several personal experiences ended up becoming the crux of why I finally decided to go full force with it.

And I do believe, natural or not, we all have the power within us to develop spiritual abilities.

And just like any ability you have, it needs to be trained and honed, and that takes time to perfect.

One thing I don’t agree with, however – is a lot of people hold the belief that they must have a special brand of suffering or trauma to be considered β€œenlightened.”

You often have a great deal of power, more than you think

No one is more important or special than another, however.

It is true – souls on an ascension journey often struggle or are dealt difficult hardships in their lives to overcome, but sometimes even this is karma playing out.

If we don’t get past it, and release, and heal – we aren’t going anywhere fast.

Healing is hard. It takes time.

I could write about spirituality all day.

But I won’t, there’s too many vast aspects that can’t fit all into one post, nor should it.

I’m not here to tell you I’m more spiritually enlightened than the next person. I’m not.

Haha, today is not the day for this story!

I’ll always be learning, absorbing, listening, observing, seeing, dreaming, feeling, and aligning to be aware of what not only lies in front of me in the present moment – but also when I turn to the subtle realms of the ether for guidance, insight, wisdom, and introspection.

And sometimes – it comes blaring through blindingly, in front of your face, slapped down right before you saying β€œhere I am!”

The universe has a funny way of showing us things and about ourselves, sometimes.

And given the chance, I will always connect to it if I am able to.

I hate stagnation, but in lots of ways I’ve been forced to rest at times. All I ever want to do is move forward, not backwards.

It is just the way I am. And it is most likely the way I always will be.

If you believe in a higher power – embrace it.

If not – and you’re seeking, I hope you find it.

If you’ve decided you don’t want anything to do with a higher power or spirituality, I completely understand.

I was like you once, as well.

  1. This is why I always say to each their own. No one has all the answers, even though a lot of people think they do. They are sadly mistaken.
+ 1 on the word empath. Overused and often misused and or abused.

    • Thank you very much, Ria! That’s so incredibly sweet of you to say, and I’m happy those traits in me come across in this post. I agree, it does help to keep us grounded. ❀️

  3. Refreshingly grounded, which is a high compliment on a post about spirituality that includes themes of mediumship, dreaming, and the moon! ❀

Were I seeking spiritual guidance I would only go to someone who cared enough to pursue their craft to an extent some might deem excessive, someone beyond the initial 'I am special' phase. I was listening to a podcast about AI dream tools, and one point that came up at the end was that 'special' energy has a purpose. It's launching energy, and that goes for most endeavors, not just spiritual. I feel like a lot of the charlatan types stay in the 'I'm special" then what they are peddling is bits of a charged ego, fools' gold.

    • Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you, being of light! Haha πŸ˜† and yes I agree, I think there is a lot of β€œfakeness” in the name of spiritual enlightenment, there can be a lot of β€œwell I know more because I’ve been doing x, y, z” or because I suffered longer and harder. It’s not to say we don’t find our path through that, we often do, but people wear it and shout it out loud and think they are most insightful of all.
I consider you a highly spiritual person, and you come off as very helpful and healing to me and those are the amazing beings who I would seek out for guidance, as well 😊
Hoping to do a dream post soon! ❀️

      • I wear the bean crown only as it was given by my daughter. πŸ˜€

Lots of wisdom here. It’s a relentlessly marketing society in the first place, so it’s understandable that spirituality isn’t immune to being pulled in by those forces.

Groundedness and humor (which comes through in so many of your posts) are excellent counter-forces!

Thinking about your observation re me, sometimes at work I’ll be feeling messy about this or that, yet people tend to put me into the peaceful or positive personality camp. Makes me think of what meditation teachers describe, that they have students who come in ‘good’ at meditation and just fine with themselves, then get angry at some point, or discouraged, because they’re like “I feel worse!” But it isn’t really worse in terms of the effect they’re having on people in their lives, it’s more like with range comes more potential.

      • I do think you could most certainly present yourself as someone who goes with the flow and is unproblematic. You may have your own internal strife going on, but present as calm. It’s hard! But it’s a balancing act I think that comes with dealing with people, life stressors, trauma, etc. and thank you, I sometimes don’t feel grounded at all, but I do enjoy the humor haha!
Meditation does certainly train a level of disciple to be successful in it. 😊
And you bring so much wisdom with your posts and comments! Thank you ❀️

  5. It was sooo wonderful to read because it is like the music of the violinβ€”the very rhythm and music of the text.
Another reason is that you are so very true and authentic in what you write; this truth just glows through your words ❀
And lastly, you are very deeply aligned with the Universe, with each of its cycles or movesβ€”and anyone can feel it deeply ❀
    Simply brilliant! ❀

  6. Very insightful post. With age, I’ve become more spiritual. Away from the material world, more into things which are not so obvious at first sight. Going into the wild, listening to the rhythm of nature is spiritual. Connect your inner being with everything around you.

Mostly I find inner peace with animals. They don’t judge, but see you for what you really are. If everyone were to stop once in a while listen more and connect with the surrounding environment, we would maybe have a better world. Like you said spirituality, lives in every one of us.

Have a wonderful day Laura πŸ™

    • Thanks so much, Chris. And I even forgot to add about connecting with nature and being not so focused on the material aspects, that’s a huge part of being a spiritual person! I agree it comes easier with age not to β€œkeep up with the joneses” – peace is above all. The wild can definitely lend us some interesting insights if we listen πŸ™ animals are amazing, I agree.
Yes, we absolutely should spend more time truly connecting! 😊 and I’m hoping to do a dream post soon. Maybe Wednesday! We’ll see if I can get it typed out haha πŸ˜†
Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful day too! πŸ™

  7. Great post, Laura. Writing about our own spiritual journey is hard to do, not because it’s hard to sit down and write, but because it’s personal and I think it needs to be discussed among fellow believers. If not, then it turns into a back and forth with people who don’t understand that each individual has the right to believe in whatever form of spirituality or faith they choose. Of course, there’s always the option to close comments in WP so the writer is free to express their feelings without pressure.

    • That’s so true!! And believe it or not, I have thought about a pretty emotional spiritual post I’d like to make soon where I’d maybe close comments, and it does make sense. Thanks for the reminder 😊 and yes, it is hard because some people judge, but we’ve all been through hell in some ways or another, I think. I think a lot of people resonate with that, anyways πŸ™ appreciate your comment, highly!
