Self-care Sunday

Daily writing prompt
How do you practice self-care?

Hello, everybody. I’ve been writing about self-care for as long as I can remember, so I’m actually happy (for once?) to see a daily prompt on it, hah! Go figure.

Cats are often all about that self-care

So, I’d really like it if you joined me on my adventure of exploring all my different self-care options for this Sunday. I’m off, so I think I deserve it. (And the cat clearly thinks he’s always entitled to it, and he is!) Ahhh, to be a chonky kitty.

So, where do we begin?

Well, the spa. Duh! If I can’t go to an actual spa, I’ll make some time to just deep condition my hair (it needs it) or something, like using a body scrub, a face mask, or trying some new something-or-other to make me feel good about myself.

Even just taking a hot shower. Or soaking your aching muscles in some dang Epsom salts, lavender-scented!

So refreshing. Wash the stress and cares away. Grab your cat, and some cucumbers!

Perfect!

Just don’t let the water get anywhere near the cat, they hate that.

If it’s not something that includes beautifying myself, another one of my ideal self-care activities is exercise.

Hiking! πŸ₯Ύ

Yes, gets the blood pumping, eliminates feelings of depression, actually makes you feel useful.

Hula hooping! Put on your favorite bad bitch playlist and let it fly! PS – I WISH my abs were this toned LOL – workin on it, workin on it.

It may be hard sometimes to get up and just do it, but it feels so amazing once you complete it.

I also love just getting out and riding my bike. It’s been a little too hot for that recently, but it’s an amazing feeling when the weather is just right, so for early morning or evening right now.

Sunrise yoga on the beach? Count me in – Just don’t ask me to do hot yoga! πŸ₯΅

Yoga. So good for you. Sometimes you just need a languid stretch and to breathe, too.

Also, I can’t forget swimming. My absolutely fav. Feeling weightless. The utter lack of pain I feel in the water as it reinvigorates and relaxes me, all at the same time.

The water might be a tad cold, heh – but I’m jumping in anyways! Polar plunge it is!

Ready to go for a swim, Sirius Sea?! I finally got the ocean with the mountains here ready for us! Full moon and starry sky, too. I’m waiting for you! Don’t forget to bring the karaoke machine! 🎀

I’m ready to flex my singing skills, finally. Ah hem!

Letting loose, and really letting go, feeling uninhibited and free – nothing like it. And certainly, a good form of self-care (within reason please, don’t go streaking down the street and get arrested and say the Black Moon lady told you to do it, OK?! Thanks).

Take a walk out in nature. I promise, you’ll feel better.

Did you really think I’d forget wandering and musing? Getting lost and connecting with nature, so good for you.

I also enjoy meditation.

Mindfulness.

Reading as well (reading on WordPress doesn’t count, pick up a book, please!) lol

Actually that’s not fair of me to say…read what you like. But disconnecting from the buzz of social media can be good for us.

Haha, the next one…I know at least one person who’s going to disagree a bit…πŸ€ͺ

Drip drop tick tock

Hydrating!

Yep, it seems silly as hell. But when you live in a tropical paradise like I do (AKA, HELL…especially during summer!) remembering to drink water as akin to breathing, sometimes. And many a time I’ve woken up with a stupid headache and simultaneously needed a coffee to ward off the damn incoming migraine, and also to hydrate. Simple stuff actually does work, sometimes.

Don’t like the taste of plain water? They got remedies for that, too. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜œ

And finally, my personal favorite of all time…

After all is said and done…some dream time can really replenish my mind

Napping. Need I say more?

So, which should I choose for today? What would be your pick?

Do you have a favorite I didn’t list?

Taking care of your mind, body, and soul – aligning them with your physical, emotional and mental health are so crucial and I’m a big believer in taking time to really care for ourselves leads us to be the best version of…well, us.

And who can argue that it’s not beneficial in every way?

I always say, self-care isn’t selfish, and I stand by it.

A post with a bit of yammering.

Happy Sunday, all!

  1. Great post! Hydrating is so important to ward off migraine. At least 100 ounces of water a day, more in this heat! All really cool suggestions and I might take your advice today😊

    • Thanks Amy! 😊 Really appreciate that, haha. And yes I agree hydrating is so important, especially with the heat. I do 100 ounces a day too if I can. I feel so weird if I don’t, otherwise. Enjoy your Sunday!

  2. Really great ideas to keep in mind today! I was just thinking I need to get back to meditating! Definitely going to do yoga this morning and try and check as many of the others off as I can ☺️

    • Yayy!! Self-care sleep is most important! And I feel you on the heat!

Oh yes, I love singing! Just belting it out and releasing all those pent up emotions can be so great. Lol πŸ˜† and if you’ll have me, I’m on my way! Woohooo! πŸ™Œ

Just lemme get my coffee on first! lol πŸ˜† haha β˜•οΈ

      • Absolutely!! It’s looking like we will have a big choir next year. What part do you sing? I usually bring my coffee to choir rehearsal πŸ˜‚ the more the merrier!!

      • Haha, I’m not even sure lol πŸ˜… and sadly I went to a school that was know for performing arts, had to sing an audition to get in (left after it ended up seeming like less and less of that!) …and that’s awesome! Coffee at rehearsal sounds like a win to me! 🀣

      • Oh man. So you ended up not going to the school known for performing arts? Was specifically a performing arts school or did they just have a strong program? What did you sing for your audition??

      • You got it! Ended up leaving. β€œParkway Middle School of the Arts,” bahh! They had a program in it, supposedly. Anyways, wasn’t for me. I did really enjoy singing though. My audition was β€œSomewhere Over the Rainbow,” fun times! πŸ˜† now I just do some bad karaoke once in awhile with my sister… my favorite for that is β€œBohemian Rhapsody,” haha! πŸ˜‚
And of course, all the belting I do out loud at home when no one’s listening lmao 🀣

      • Aww, I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you. What was the catalyst that really caused you to leave? I love performing Over The Rainbow – I do it on my uke sometimes!

And I too have done Bohemian Rhapsody karaoke πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ do you do all the parts??? You kinda have to!

      • Haha, my sister and I often sing it, and yes we do all the parts together, it’s pretty funny! 🀣
And honestly, it was a school that was far away from where I lived and it didn’t seem like they were going to deliver what all was promised. That’s the main reason.
And awesome! lol πŸ˜† it’s a fun song, I still love singing it even now haha!

  3. This cat is super cute ❀ I agree and enjoy most of the activities on your list πŸ™‚ Sleep, meditate, read, swim as much as you can – I'll join you with pleasure πŸ™‚
    Except for signing, I won't join you, I'm a terrible singer πŸ˜€

  5. Yammer on! Wish I’d read this yesterday so I would get up and. be more vibrant and self-care-y today! But I did laundry, and am catching up here, and the day’s not over. So I’ll get out of bed eventually and do something that falls into a category on this page! ❀

I love the cucumber cat pictures! ❀

And karaoke is great, also swimming, but maybe keep the machine out of the ocean? ; )
