This is a submission for Kevin’s No Theme Thursday.

Their memories haunted of all that’s lost
Their struggles unknown, and at what cost
Broken and battered, their hearts are torn
Their stories forgotten, their bodies worn
The home of brave, and the land of free
With service to “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,”
Land of liberty, and yet you sadly see
Lives tattered and shattered, so painfully
Their merits and ranks, now all in vain
Homelessness, hunger, and so much pain
For all gave some, and some gave all
So let’s not just stand and watch them fall
For on this day, let us pay our respects
To the men and women, we will never forget

It’s Memorial Day. Please don’t forget about the men and women who have paid the highest price for our freedom – with many of them now forgotten, homeless, and struggling.
And unfortunately, some of them are no longer here among us – the ultimate sacrifice. 🙏

Very haunting but very accurate tribute.
Thank you, Laura. Well done indeed. 🙏

Beautifully timed and eloquently written, this message encapsulates our dual commitment: caring for those who are in need and alone, while also expressing our gratitude and honoring those who served to secure the freedoms we cherish today.

Thank you Willie, 😊 your comment is just as beautiful and eloquent. Much appreciated, and I agree with you that we need to care for and show gratitude to those who have put their lives on the line so we can be free. Thank you 🙏

When I seen that image, they were the thoughts running through my head who that person could be in the image, so I wondered if any bloggers who I follow that join in with these prompts would come up with something on that theme. And you did.
It’s a very good poem, that sadly is true, to go with this image.

Thank you, Liz. When I used to work at the Veteran’s hospital down in Miami, I used to see images very reminiscent of this every single day. And it still makes me sad, because they deserve much more than they’re given.
Appreciate your heartfelt comment, so much 😊🙏

It doesn’t surprise me you have come across this unfortunately. It is sad. It’s sad this happens. And it shouldn’t.

I’ve been hearing this off and on and I’ve tried to fix it. But I do think it’s a WP glitch.
