Starlit Sunday in the Woods

Beauty in all things dark and dangerous

โ€œArenโ€™t you afraid of those woods?โ€ My coworker asked me as we walked along the brush early on last night, moving from one building to the next during our change of shift report.

Practically out in the middle of nowhere, with darkness rapidly approaching.

Starlight, starbrightโ€ฆI wish I may, I wish I might

I stopped to take a photo of the stars glowing vibrantly among the (what most people might consider) foreboding trees.

I am undoubtedly mesmerized by all things deep, dark, and mysterious. The woods were no different.

And the stars in the sky were calling out to me.

Forebodingโ€ฆ?

โ€œNahh, of course not,โ€ I replied. โ€œItโ€™s where I go to feel alive.โ€

She continued on ahead of me, โ€œWell, just watch out for those gators,โ€ she said. โ€œI donโ€™t want to come to work tomorrow and find out you got eaten!โ€

The gators werenโ€™t what I was looking for, anyways.

To be devoured โ€ฆby the vastness

The woods can be a bit intimidating, sometimes. I’m often unsure of what may be lurking around in the shadowsโ€ฆ

Alone, upon the late night hour. The only sound of twigs in the Earth crunching beneath my feet as I walk.

The silence in the night time air absolutely pulsating, vibrating – with no one else around.

Deeper and deeper I goโ€ฆ

However, with all its enchanting and captivating allure, I can never shake the feeling that I may be being watched byโ€ฆ someone?

A presence. An energy. Intensely.

Almost palpable. Primal, even.

Spirits who have come out to play, perhaps?

Maybe deities who longed to be worshipped?

Or even a hungry beast with glowing, red eyes?

Almost like a fairytaleโ€ฆ

My face flushing, my heart now racing.

Certainlyโ€ฆit was what I wanted to come find me.

What I had hoped for.

To lay aroundโ€ฆand dream all night and day

Iโ€™ve never been afraid to be one for tempting fate.

Maybe I am the willing prey

Sometimes a walk through the enchanting woods is what we really need to satisfy us, after all.

A blissful and restful Sunday to you all!

  1. Dose of instant deep rest ~ a reminder that it’s always available. I’m going to make an effort to step outside of work and look up more today. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a wonderful Sunday too!

  2. You probably were being watched (such an eerie feeling), but the pictures are gold!!!! I got lost in the forest once and besides total liberation and awe for a few seconds, then it dawned … I was being watched … by a bear! lol

  3. I feel sorry for the suffering deities that no one worhsips anymore.๐Ÿ˜Š This post made me think how we all live in our own reality. For example, I woulnd’t think of deities, but I would think of The Universe and energy. In the end we shape our own world, but there is an objective reality out there, and I’m always aspiring to align myself to it, as best I know in a certain moment. Yeah, and your post didn’t come up in my feed, I saw you wrote it only now when I opened up your blog, wonder why is that? ๐Ÿค”

P.S. I just wrote a post about that lucid dream I had.

    • Haha, very true! And you arenโ€™t the only one who doesnโ€™t see my posts on their reader, unsure if itโ€™s just mine or this happens to multiple people. I know I have to search for certain people sometimes even if Iโ€™m subscribed, itโ€™s weird.

And looking forward to reading it! ๐Ÿ˜Š

      • I noticed that I saw a post from one blog in my reader yesterday and when I looked in my subscritions it stated that site was uptadet three days ago. Weird. The wordpress obviously has some glitches, we shoud investigate the issue, see are there any solutions for the problem. Or at least we can check each others blog regularly. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. It was a perfect post, so mesmerizing and precise at the same time! โค

Also, it resonated so deeply with what I feel when I’m one-on-one with nature. I believe I also once wrote about primeval forces, spirits, and forgotten deities inhabiting the forests, or just perceived reality this way? ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhow, it probably won’t surprise you ๐Ÿ™‚

Gators? Seriously? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Wow, I believe I’ve only seen them in the zoo ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Haha, Florida is the land of gators! ๐ŸŠ and thank you! ๐Ÿ™ always appreciated, and glad you enjoyed.
Haha, if you did write it that way, Iโ€™m not at all surprised! There are many awesome things in the forest, to be sure! โค๏ธ

  5. Really captivating descriptions of that nighttime solitary buzz through nature (we never have anything as exciting as gators, mainly just owls posturing from neighbouring trees or foxes yelling in distant fields) ๐Ÿ™‚
