I’m Lost…Need Directions?

What gives you direction in life?

Very much inspired and resonate (as I so often do) with Stephanie’s post this morning regarding chaos and alignment.

I lose my mind to find my soul – it is the map of our life’s direction, destiny, and journey- Snoqualmie, WA

The soul desires to expand and grow.

Our soul yearns for us to listen to it. Our intuition, the gut feelings, the gentle nudge of encouragement we so often need when we step out of our own comfort zone – are the ways our soul communicates with and directs us.

Sometimes, even giving us a blaring warning signal that we can no longer ignore.

The ultimate goal is for us to grow and embrace our true selves. To be authentic. To live in alignment with our true purpose. Going inward to do the hard work.

Connecting with our higher self, our soul – is our destiny. We all embark on this journey in some capacity. Our upbringing in a specific religious tradition may introduce us to the Divine at an early age, but that doesn’t mean we actually have learned or obtained faith in something. In anything, really.

True faith and understanding comes from within.

I ignored this call from my soul for many years.

Let me tell you, I most certainly was not aligned with my life’s journey. All my life I had been told I was a healer. I went to woman who was known as a shaman at an early age in search of spiritual advice (lost – and yet, still somehow seeking out what I knew to be more of something in life than just the material and tangible right before us)

She was an interesting woman, not of many words, wearing a veil, quite short in stature.

She grasped my hands. That did freak me out a bit, because she did it without warning.

“You have the hands of a healer,” she finally said.

Well. That was annoying.

Why couldn’t my life’s destiny, direction, and purpose be something cool? Like a famous singer or a warrior who fights in battles?

How boring did a healer sound to me in my (probably teenaged, as I don’t remember my age exactly at the time) quest for righteous ascension into something much better than what I was currently dealing with?

Even if we sometimes travel down a dangerous path, we can still always return to Source

In fact, over the years, and with many journeys and exits in shutting down and opening back up spiritually, people always told me I came through as healing.

Eventually, my soul forced the issue. As our soul often does, when we aren’t listening to it.

Yeah, yeah. I know.

It was still an annoyance. This meant in some ways I was destined to live my life in service to others. In fact, I was griping about this recently on here a few months ago.

However, the difference is now I’ve accepted that being a healer is a most powerful position to hold.

Regardless of what I thought before.

Healing can transform people – emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually. There is no greater feeling than knowing you have touched someone on their journey in life, either by bringing them joy, peace, a helping hand, love, kindness, respect, support, a listening ear, or any other emotion or need in which they may be lacking.

There is power in listening to your soul – if you feel lost, confused, and needing direction. I am ever grateful for the insight I have received when simply just allowing, listening, and paying attention.

This is the journey our destiny longs for us to take.

Will you answer the call?

  1. I’m a healer too, and I’m telling you I can’t count how many times I beg to not be one and beg God to take it away. It’s been a tough life and it’s been a thankless one too, but we are what we are… I empathize for you. I know how difficult it is.

    • Thank you so very much for your kind words 🙏 it is tough work, most certainly, but a path that is very rewarding. Thankless – it can be, but when you actually make a difference to someone in their darkest hour, you know that is the greatest gift of all. I am thankful I’ve had a lot of help along the way, too. I hope you find peace as well with your life’s journey. 😊

      • Yeah, it’s the same for me. It’s like asking me to suddenly become a fish. I am definitely still healer still care about people. I just have boundaries now to protect my energy because people will definitely corrupt or rob you of all your energy if you let them. I’ve never seeing people come out. My life is always a good thing even if their exit is a rapid and sad one.

      • Boundaries are most definitely very important, and something I’ve struggled with cultivating in the past, but thankfully have become much, much better at! You are absolutely right, that people will drain you if you allow. 😊 it’s definitely important to know when you need to cut things off, if it’s not for your highest good 🙏

      • The nice part is without my energy being depleted. My empathy goes into my writing and makes my writing so much more vivid and emotional. I think that’s why at least some people like it, hopefully more as we go. 😊

  4. Agreeing with the comment above. You’re a healer with rock star energy! I’m so complimented that you would link to my post, as I felt this morning there wasn’t quite time to express what I wanted to. You took that little story of aspiration and acceptance and opened into something more giving. Something more…healing. ❤

    • Thank you so much! ❤️ your posts resonate with me always so, so much, I connect with them on a higher level. And I know how that is sometimes, we are in a hurry and we just type something out, thinking maybe it isn’t quite what we wanted to convey fully, but then it really does touch others! 🙏 grateful for your insight and your kind words, as always! 😊

  5. Pretty awesome post, Laura. You are spot on when you said, “The ultimate goal is for us to grow and embrace our true selves. To be authentic. To live in alignment with our true purpose. Going inward to do the hard work.” People need to do the hard work and learn the necessary skills to find their life purpose, then conduct themselves accordingly to achieve it. It’s so important, yet many people avoid this introspection and are content to drift through life without a clear destination. Bravo for writing this wonderful piece.

    • Thank you so much, Edward! I am greatly touched by your words, and yes it is so important for us to not only put forth our intentions to grow within ourselves but to also actually do the work. It is hard, but absolutely necessary. You have such awesome and inspiring posts as well, and I truly enjoy reading what you have to say! Thank you again 😊 🙏

  6. Another healer is here ❤

Being a healer is the other side of being a warrior; both wield energies and evoke great changes. You write that you weren't aligned with yourself, but it is a rare occasion that a teenager actually is.

You are in good connection with your path and purpose now, and that is what counts the most ❤ You have beautiful, strong energy, Laura, great potential, and an open, warm heart 🙂

And I personally very much agree with the words at the end of your post – transformation, help, support, and joy from rebirth that you can give to others are the most important ❤ Listening to your soul ❤

Great post; thank you for writing it! 🙂

    • Yes, you most definitely are a healer 🙏 ❤️
That’s very true, of course. And very, very kind words of you! I believe you are on the right path too! Especially as we continue down this path of self-realization and introspection into our own lives.
You have a beautiful energy and amazing, kind, giving energy as well! Thankful to have your insights and thoughts always ❤️

  7. I can also say I was not living aligned with my true purpose in life. I was a stand up comedian and studied Political Science, thinking about fighting for a better world by criticizing the society through satire and political activism. But my soul urged for something deeper. And as it often happens when you ignore your soul, I got ill. I got so badly ill I couldn’t function. Long storry short, my illness turned to be my guide and I’ve lived most beautiful experiences in my life thanks to it. I still didn’t find my real purpose in life, but at least I lost all the illusions I had about it. Now I’m in a space where I can and hopefully I will find my purpose.

    • Stand up comedian sounds pretty awesome, however! There are many different purposes and paths we can take, it’s kind of like having multiple careers in life. Sometimes we don’t always have one purpose, but multiple. However, some people feel lost and like they don’t have any at all. I do think there is a core purpose and destiny for all of us, however – it just sometimes presents in different ways, at different levels of ascension.
I had an illness too that caused me to open up, much, much more. I had already been studying a lot of spiritual concepts throughout my life, but I had opened up and closed down through so many phases in life. After the illness, it was time. No going back. You will find what you’re looking for, you’re already questioning, so you are much closer than some people ever will be!

      • Yeah, I can resonate with the fact that there are multiple purposes in life. Sometime one ends and other starts, and sometimes they can coexist simultaneously. I can understand why some feel lost and like they don’t have any purpose, becouse to find your purpose you must be ready to go through the pain of losing the personality you built on your false beliefs. And most people will avoid that pain, even for the cost of living a fake life instead of an authentic one. I’ve also been studying spiritual concepts through life, but what I found out is that most of the time I was intellectualizing a lot, but that’s ok too, it just needed to be replaced with more suitable ways of comprehending the world. I’ve realised that answers to some questions do not come in the form of a intellectual thought, but as an genuine experience. And sometimes it’s not about the answers but about the questions we ask. You can’t get an answer to a question that doesn’t make sense. For me it was also no going back after my illness. But I’m still struggling to keep going. Experiences I had thanks to my illness were profound and powerful ((I’ll write about that as well), and for a while I had a sort of an afterglow which kept me going, but now it’s time to dig some dirty and painful places of my mind, to face my fears in order to unearth myself truly. I’m in a rough place but I’ll keep going, I know I have to. Thanks for the support, I apreciate it. ❤

      • Definitely write about it! These comments you have here are quite insightful! And yes, you have to be ready, although there is that time in a sense where there’s no going back either. False beliefs are common for everyone I feel, but once you decide to start living authentically you feel much more free. Yeah, it can be hard work, for sure. And of course, definitely here for supper and look forward to your writing! 😊

  8. You are a wise lady Laura! I am impressed….that might not be the best word to use, but it is the first one that came to me so I am saying it😊. This is such a deep and difficult question to answer, have we found our true path and truly connected, listened, to our higher self🤔…your post certainly has me pondering it! Out of intrigue, and forgive me if I am wrong or it is too intrusive, are you a Pisces? I am no star sign expert by the way😊…Jay

    • Hi Jay! And thank you so much for your impressions, haha! 😆 Always happy to have your comments here on my musings. 😊 It seems also you’re picking up on something, because even though my sun sign is Libra, my rising sign is in Pisces. Confusing? Haha. So often I happen to channel that type of energy into my writing, it seems. I’m governed by it a little more often than I’d like to be, anyways! What about you? 😂 And not at all intrusive, don’t worry! 😊 Glad that you are pondering, it’s always nice to have a bit of dialogue with oneself.

      • Hi Laura. You are welcome😊. Yes you are correct…I am confused, well maybe not so much confused, but more aware of my ignorance to what you are telling me? You can have two signs? I am not that educated about astrology. I am a Piscean, and yes I do pick that vibe up in your writings I believe. Self dialogue is good, and your post was quite inspiring! as following the/my true path is something I often dialogue with myself about🤔. In fact your post inspired quite a deep conversation with my Son and I at the gym this morning. So your writings do travel and have impact😊!

      • Hey Jay, sorry for the delay here! Crazy night at work 😊 yes, so you have your main star sign, your sun sign and then you have a rising, a moon sign, etc, it’s all in your birth chart or natal chart as they call it, maybe different positions. Interesting you are a Pisces! That’s awesome you had a conversation with your son about some of the things I wrote about on here, you both sound incredibly insightful! 😊 I appreciate you letting me know that, and I hope his studies in philosophy as going well! Much to learn, I’m sure you know!

      • Hi Laura. No worries and no need for apologies 😊. Interesting, shows how little I know about the subject, I thought you had one star sign and that was it, unless there was some crossover in dates. Maybe I should get some input into mine one-day…it could be enlightening! Thank you for the compliment, we do love philosophy. Yes always much to learn! Hope you are having a great day😊.

      • Same to you! Here’s to a great start to the week. Yes, there’s a lot of different sites out there even that will analyze your birth chart, you just need to input the info. It’s good information, helps to know what drives us! 😊
