3AM hour…

When do you feel most productive?

Between the hours of 3AM-5AM, when everything is super quiet and the world is mostly asleep.

It’s not my photo – but I sometimes feel it very well could be lol 😆

The above was going to be the end of this post, honestly. But then I thought a bit deeper and I decided I suppose I could expand on it a little. 🤪

Besides, it’s a bit better than answering the prompt with what emojis do you like to use? 💀

I’m someone who often procrastinates. I’ve worked over the years to stop doing this, as it can be pretty detrimental to…well, everything.

An assignment for a class needs to be uploaded at 11:59PM on Sunday night?

Here it is, Sunday at 11:30PM.

No, no. CRAP! Why did I wait so long?

Luckily, I’m not this bad anymore.

I don’t like things piling up and then it ends up in one big explosion of fire. 🔥 (Fire is awesome, but not in this case, lol)

I’ve never been a big planning person, however. Perfectionist in some ways, yes. Planner, no. Unless you’re talking about planning a vacation or a trip. Then I’m all for that!

I always hate to defer to work, but there’s something about not planning for that type of field, anyways. You just gotta do what you can do, and then shit might hit the fan anyways. And you gotta be ready. 🙂

This is true – but it’s often hard for people who are creative to take a break and just be.

Back to the hours of 3AM-5AM! 🙃

If I’m not bound by the constrains of work (and yes, I often feel like work is stealing my time), I find these hours are the best to wake up, (or already be up, if you’re so inclined) and do some introspection, meditation, writing, working out, creating. Putting out positive intentions, manifesting, energy work, whatever you’d like to call it. Working on your spiritual practice, mindfulness, practicing gratitude, or even studying for something difficult.

It’s when the world is so silent, but everything feels absolutely alive to me. Creativity and power really flows through me at this time.

On the other side of the spectrum – I feel less productive overall during afternoon hours. It is when I feel the most sluggish, cloudy-headed, agitated, and just not in the mood to do…anything. I feel like if I work out, it’s subpar. I’m ready for a dang nap!

Perhaps it’s just me?

What, you thought I was going to mention how the veils between worlds are thin at this hour, and this is when I like to do a bit of …ah hem, lighting candles and evocation?

Nahhh…maybe next time!

P.S. – my favorite emojis are 😆, 😊, 😂, 😉, 😜, 🤪, 🙏, 🔥, ❤️, and let’s just throw in 💩 for the hell of it since it was one I used to use all the time. Oh, and you can’t forget ☕️!

Enjoy your Sunday! I hope it’s a peaceful one!

    • Haaaaahhhh 😂 am I so predictable?! It really is the best time lol, for all the things. 😊 glad I could make you laugh! And yes, I’m excited for work to end too, and it hasn’t even started for me yet! Blah! 🙃

      • Not AT ALL! It’s just… I was hoping, but also, it’s sort of in there. 🙂

I often wake up between 3 and 4, and want very much to get up and meditate, be creative, but only once in a blue moon does that actually happen. I need to be up 5ish a few days of the week now, so I panic if I’m up, which doesn’t help matters at all.

Definitely relate to the sluggish window!

      • Oh, I totally get that. If I have to be up early for work, I’m not getting out of bed to do any of that. Lol 😆 it sounds nice in theory, but sleep always comes first.
The sluggish bit sucks haha, I wish there was a way to banish that feeling forever!

  1. Magnificence with humor = alluring, Laura ❤ … there’s a fine line between those demons and angels (lol) but no mistaking the most serene and magical hours. I agree by 3 in the afternoon I’m always starving and exhausted … no amount of coffee can do it! 🙂

    • Thank you lovely, yes you are correct there’s a definite fine line, and some are easier to talk to than others 😂 for sure quite calming and alive, all at once. Yes, the afternoon is quite a draggggg for me as well, lol ❤️

  2. Very neat! Sometimes, the 4AM hour during the day is one of the most peaceful hours you can have in your home, if you happen to be awake. You can do so relaxing things then. You can listen to BBC World Service on your NPR station.

  3. You should try to listen to the BBC World Service on your NPR station if you are awake in the 3AM hour. Some of the programs are pretty good during that hour.

  4. Very true what you’ve said here! 🙂 Some people are naturally night owls and their best creativity comes in the wee small hours – definitely had some writing brainwaves myself early in the morning ❤
