Lights, camera, action.

Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?

As the winds of time pass you by, donโ€™t forget to stop and smell the roses and take some photos (just donโ€™t drop your camera/phone along the way, LOL) – Winthrop, WA

Hmmm.

Hmmmmmm.

*starts typing*

Ahhh, nope.

Delete, delete.

Dang.

This is kinda a hard one for me. Iโ€™m a woman of action, usually. I mean, my Mars is in Aries, for the God of Warโ€™s sake (astrological placement in my birth chart we wonโ€™t delve too deeply into, lol)

I suppose, if I had to pick something, it wouldโ€™ve been going back to school earlier.

Once I graduated from nursing school, I immediately had to begin working so I could move the hell away and other things.

I took my boards on June 18th and had a job the very next day, before I ever even received my license in the mail. Thatโ€™s how desperate I was to get back out into the working world.

Most of my friends from school went back right away to get upper level certifications and degrees. Me? Hah, I felt I was lucky I made it through to begin with.

I also needed a damn break.

I emerged from school already feeling burnt out. I was going back for more torture? No, thank you, Iโ€™m good.

Iโ€™m not a degree chaser by any means, I donโ€™t seek validation through titles or positions. Iโ€™ve literally been the boss in many situations, the one always being deferred to, or conversely, in other settings, the โ€œlowest man on the totem pole,โ€ and not the good connotation of the saying, either. I hate that phrase, by the way. ๐Ÿ™‚

So when the years started rolling by, and my friends told me they were finishing up with their second round of schooling, I was like, really? It annoyed me also because I often saw people in positions who didnโ€™t belong at all, and I had years of experience.

Welp. Time to make a change. No time like the present and all that.

I still struggle with it. Itโ€™s still hard. But at least Iโ€™m making steps to be the best version of myself.

Once Iโ€™m finished, Iโ€™m sure it will seem like a blip in time.

But I still do wish I had done it earlier.

Ah, well. Perhaps everything really does happen for a reason, and the timing is just what it needs to be.

After all, we are supposed to be the ever-changing, always learning, growing throughout life and rectifying our bad decisions type of beings, arenโ€™t we?

Mere mortals that we are.

And thatโ€™s all she wrote, folks.

Have a blessed and happy Tuesday!

  1. Aries Venus says ‘Hi’! ๐Ÿ˜€ Once again, I empathize so much with you… It was a very challenging task for me to finish one degree (but I finally did it!), and when I decided to pursue education in a long-loved area, I failed again. I love studying, but unfortunately, I was in a terrible emotional/mental mess at that time. But you know what? I believe in you (and in us); I’m convinced that we will succeed when the time is right ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Haha, very nice Aries Venus! ๐Ÿ˜Š mine is in Leo, lolโ€ฆboth Mars and Venus placements in Fire signs, go figure ๐Ÿคฃ
Yes, school has always been a challenge for me as well. Glad you made it through, congrats! I find that emotional and mental stress absolutely is not conducive for pursuing any type of higher learning, I donโ€™t understand how people can just shut off and go through it sometimes. And thank you so much, I believe in us too! ๐Ÿ˜Š you are right, when the time comes, if itโ€™s meant to be, it will be.

      • Oh, wow, my Mars is in Leo ๐Ÿ˜€ And my Venus is in the 5th House (ruled by Leo). Some similar vibes here ๐Ÿ™‚ People were also a problem for me, unfortunately, and it was the most difficult challenge. Now it is all in the past anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ The most important thing is to remember that this doesn’t make us ‘losers’ or ‘less smart’; it’s more a matter of social flexibility, I guess..

  2. I hear you about nursing. I was hired before I’d even taken my boards. When my unit got the news I’d passed, they put balloons up and a congratulatory sign at the nurses’ station. ๐Ÿฉท๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒบHappy Tuesday! xo

  3. I’m sure that the experience you’ve gained while watching others who may have credentials but not the same sense, will make you all the more of a force to be reckoned with in your field. And that will be to the good of all!

  4. I definitely feel this, Laura. Growing up, I always envisioned myself as a lifelong student (and I still consider myself a lifelong learner), but after earning my first degree, I was so burned out! It’s been almost eight years now, and the longer I wait, the harder it feels to mentally commit to returning to school. Part of the challenge is that Iโ€™m working in a field thatโ€™s somewhat unrelated to my degree. While Iโ€™d love to eventually go back to school to pursue what I originally studied, it seems more practical right now to focus on something related to my current career. But, ughhh, I just canโ€™t bring myself to do it, lol. I know Iโ€™m super late to this, but I hope things are going well for you in school!
