Not the things

If you could have something named after you, what would it be?

Nothing.

Ashford, WA

If anything

I would like to be remembered most for how I cared for others.

For how I made people feel, whether good or bad.

If I helped another person in their darkest time.

For my strong opinions.

If my words, whether written or spoken, ever touched another’s soul.

If I ever brought joy or laughter to someone else.

That people either loved or hated me – no in-between.

Or if I ever helped someone heal.

That would be the most priceless feeling, rather than being named after an object or thing.

For in the end, we are dust.

Back to the Earth.

But our spirit lives on.

Pleasant Saturday to you all.

And if you celebrate Easter – Happy Easter weekend!

  1. Amen. I can feel myself walking out on these rocks, each with so much distinct character, and into your poem as well. I’d say you’re well on your way with all you wish for.
