Grounded. 🪴

So, in an effort to combine a self-care Sunday along with some spirituality, I would like to mention the one and only Silk Cords who has some very good techniques for grounding (among other valuable information) in this post.

Reconnect

Why is grounding important?

Well, along with some of the previous writing I’ve done on dispelling negativity in our lives, we can often allow our thoughts and emotions to run away with us, especially if we are spiritually inclined.

Grounding helps in everyday life with anxiety. But it also helps if you are working with energy, trying to develop psychic abilities, or even practicing as an intuitive or medium.

If you’re like me, you may feel energy very intensely. I also generally have many dreams, sometimes even connecting with souls on another plane that I haven’t actually physically seen in almost 10 years or so (which can often lead to some very heady experiences), among other exciting adventures.

If you’ve ever had a really vivid dream, or even a nightmare, that hazy feeling you have upon waking can sometimes stay with you throughout the day. This can be distracting in our waking lives, even if the dream was immensely pleasant.

This is where grounding comes in.

In short, grounding can re-establish your electrical connection to the Earth.

Grounding may also help connect you to your higher self. It is the action of awareness to your connection to your self and the Earth, creating an energetic balance as such.

I often like to practice grounding simply by being barefoot and walking outside, allowing my feet to connect to the Earth.

Gardening also is a great way to ground. Even doing yard work. Touching the Earth. I love to smell the dirt and grass, and I even love the smell of rain (yes, us Floridians can smell rain). However, this isn’t always possible for everyone due to the climate they live in or just due to time constraints.

No, this is not an ad for FeetFinder, I swear…if you hate feet, I’m sorry 😆

Grounding can be as simple as putting your hands in water. I mentioned a shower method I often like to use in my post here. (You gotta shower anyways, right?! You better!)

Far be it from me to only talk about the spiritual aspects of grounding, as you may say, “Well, that’s all fine and good that you enjoy being dirty Laura, but is there any actual physical benefits of grounding?”

Yes.

Don’t believe me? Screaming about “follow the science” and all that?

Here you go.

Aside from what I previously wrote and also helping with anxiety, grounding has also been shown to help with inflammation, may help regulate the hormone cortisol, shift responses to pain, and even can improve sleep, among other benefits.

But don’t listen only to what I have to say about grounding.

Try it yourself and let me know if it helps you at all.

I think that’s all for now. As always, this post is long enough.

Tranquil and pleasant Sunday to you all!

  1. I was just in the shower getting ready for work, but slowed myself for a little meditation because I remembered your mentioning a shower practice. 🙂 Nice post, and lol about the feet. Hope you have a fun and pleasant day!

    • Haha! Thank you! I’m so glad you thought of it and I hope it helps you feel refreshed throughout your day. 😊 and thank you, I hope it’s a fun and relaxing day as well!

  2. Great article. Your mentioning of the material / physical world side of grounding is something I didn’t cover in my own post. Studies show it’s true though, AND can help with all the EMF pollution in the air nowadays. There are grounding blankets available out there also. I’ve been meaning to get one, lol.

“Follow the science” drives me nuts BTW. I believe in science, but it’s almost completely for sale anymore. I’ll avoid the rant and simply say personal experience can be the best test in situations like this. Rule #7 of Huna: “PONO – Effectiveness is the measure of truth”. If it works, it works.

MAYBE some day science will acknowledge we’re both physical and energetic beings.

    • Thank you! Your post was definitely great in explaining different techniques. 😊
And yes, I agree, it would be nice if we could acknowledge both. Some practices are beginning to do that more I feel – yes there’s logic and facts but there’s also energy and divinity which should also be accounted for.

      • “Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter” – Yoda. Lucas couldn’t have written that on his best day, LOL.

I barely touch on it in my spiritual blog, but I could make a case that matter is just energy that’s reached a certain density. 😉

At any rate, I’m trying to play catch up here while juggling 100 other things as well today, lol. 🙂 I did want to thank you for the blog plug though. You’re the bestest. 😁❤️

      • Well, there’s that too. When you are the new person, you want to show you’re worth it.
This place does seem much more laid back though, which is good. The last place is chaos, and the newest recruits who replaced me and some others, are learning a harsh lesson and really struggling.
Someone get me my violin. 😋😄

      • No doubt, they lost someone great in you at your old job!
About a week or so into my new job, the old job was texting me (I offered to stay on per diem, but ended up deciding I didn’t really want to deal with the toxicity anymore)
“Hey you’re on the schedule tonight,” and I’m like “ok well I never gave my availability,”…employment there is on my terms now…not theirs….my supervisor (who used to be a cool person, but turned into a shithead)
“Oh I just figured it was whatever day you had off.”
        Me: nope
        “So you’re not coming?”
lol no …now can you stop haha 😂

      • The reigning suspicion is that the two newest supervisors will get fired or quit soon. I guess one is despised from the floor all the way up to the site director. They tell me he’s a real piece of work. lol
I can foresee them doing a couple more rounds of revolving door and then I always get this funny feeling they are going to call me to come back one day. Others have the same feeling.
We’ll see if or when that day comes lol

I love how they just assume. Like they still own your ass or something. 😜

      • Yep! No employment owns me and never will.
It’s a paycheck, not my life.
That’s how you gotta look at it.
I wouldn’t be super surprised if you said down the line they called you back either, but definitely don’t give em the time of day.
If other people are drowning and there’s a high turnover rate, there’s a reason.
The entire place sounds like a shitshow.
The psych hospital I used to work for has a 1.8 rating on google, lmao that should tell you something. 🤪

      • It is extremely disorganized and toxic, which is too bad, because there are a lot of good people there, but between the lack of structure and respect, it’s a mess.
1.8? That’s stellar. 🤣I know more than a few people have given my old place a 1 rating and would have given a 0 if they could 😄
The only reason some of us were able to succeed in there is A, we were stubborn and B, we had built up a tolerance to it over the years, as the progression to worse was gradual over time.
People coming in fresh are getting blitzed with unrealistic workloads and are like “WTF?” lol

      • That’s the bullshit right there. Oftentimes, it’s tolerance for how much garbage you’ll actually put up with.
I’m getting into my new job now and I’m seeing why everyone is leaving. I’m hoping to save this job because it’s got good benefits but if it doesn’t happen, oh well. Onto the next.
But the job is almost like an abusive relationship in some aspects.
You give and give and give and get shit on over and over and then when you finally get away from it, you’re like “wtf was that and why the hell did I ever put up with it?!?”

      • I hope you can salvage it too, but I know how the odds of that go. Good luck, because if anyone can, it’s probably you. You have a very good attitude, but you also appear to know when to walk away.
I view jobs much more as a means to end end now. I will give you my absolute best, and pride myself on that, but I will not sacrifice my health or sanity any longer. I even am willing to go above and beyond at times, but not every day. This rubber band only has so much give.

      • Well thank you for that! It took me awhile to get here. It definitely is not the be all, end all. Yes, I have to pay bills and such but not going to sacrifice my body and my energy towards any negativity, just as you said. I went through that when I was younger and I don’t tolerate it now, simply because I can’t. And yes, give your best, of course, but there’s a limit. That goes with everything in life! 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      • Indeed there is. And if I am working 12 hour days, that limit is normally going to be around 7:30AM 😄
Some days shit happens and it’s a later day, but those should be the exception, not the rule.

      • Yeah, and 12s are rough! It’s no joke, don’t ask me to do anything else except sleep after working 12 hours, lol. ESPECIALLY nights.
        God I don’t know how sometimes I did 5 -12s in a row, wtf was I thinkin 🤣

      • Same here. I was doing five 14 -16 hours at the end of my last run. No bueno.
Thy are a grind, but with the right schedule, they can be ok. As long as ya don’t get too stupid 😄

      • I understand where you come from though. I worked 2 jobs a few years back and it was always “can you work this day, can you come in and help” and I would, all that extra money from OT etc and extra hours is GONE and they honestly could care less if they burn you out or not. So I told myself, no more.
Honestly I don’t know how I did it.
        Don’t fall into that trap.

        Liked by 1 person

      • Oh, I know trust me. I fell into that trap hard and did get fried, totally. It’s just my personality, so it’s more about putting a leash on myself.
