Off-Putting

Daily writing prompt
What have you been putting off doing? Why?

I could answer this in a multitude of ways, I think.

I haven’t waxed my eyebrows in a hot minute. It’s getting dangerous πŸ˜†

The answer I’m going with is self-care, though.

It’s been long in the lagging department.

When it comes to dealing with work and life stressors…

We often forget ourselves.

Which is never the kind of β€œlost” we should strive for.

Apparently I am completely inept at generating workout images for myself. Oh well, thanks Kevin! πŸ˜†

I did manage to start back at the gym. Not super consistent, but getting there and better than nothing. Hoping to fix that soon.

In fact, I am pretty sore from the 100 lbs leg presses I did last night. Happy about that. Workout sore is usually good sore.

❀️ lol I always get β€œUNSAFE PROMPT” thanks AI πŸ™„πŸ˜’πŸ€ͺ

A vacation away from the world sounds lovely.

Sleep vacation, even. I’m sure there’s years of deprivation I could catch up on.

Probably have been putting off some inner spiritual work that takes more motivation than I’m willing to dole out at this moment.

There’s inevitably some β€œhousekeeping” I’m sure I could catch up on.

Sleeping under moon and stars? Forest bathing? Lol

One of the things I kind of miss doing is taking time to cook a really well-thought out and enjoyable meal. You know, the ones that take lots of prep, planning, ingredients, etc. Time, energy, fast, fast, go, go.

I could also probably write more, but that’s definitely not a priority.

Maybe.

Happy Weekend! β˜•οΈ I woke up with a bit of a head/neck/near-migraine this morning so I’m going to tackle that the best I can. I hope you have a blessed, peaceful, and caffeinated Saturday.

  1. Hoping you feel better soon 😍
Yeah, there’s a long list of self-care items on the list, “Sleep” is my numero uno at the moment, as you know.
P.S. reminder to wax your eyebrows πŸ˜„
    Seriously, feel better 😊

  2. If you’ve got some 5 minute spare time throughout the day, focus on something just for you! Make sure you don’t push too much also, hun. Happy Saturday to you, and I hope you have a blessed day, dear. ❀️

      • We do for sure. That’s why I’ve put self-care as my main focus besides my family. Many years putting everyone and everything ahead of myself, has exhausted me more than ever. So I’ve realized, even if it’s 5 minutes here and there, it can start to make a huge difference! Thank you very much also hun. I plan to enjoy this weekend to the fullest before more therapy and work begins! ❀️

      • Yes, I think we often put too much before ourselves. I always wonder how it gets that way! Then I see people going out doing nails and hair and I’m like?? When? How? Where do you get time? lol. The 5 minutes is necessary! ❀️ definitely enjoy the weekend before the madness resumes! 😊

  3. You work out more than I do. My work out is pushing my wife around in her wheelchair when we are out and lifting it in and out of the boot. I do get to take time prepping and cooking meals though. πŸ˜‰πŸ€£

  4. I like your idea about cooking a well thought out meal. Courses. I refilled my Grill propane canister yesterday, charring something sounds like it should be next on my agenda. My wife is vegetarian, which is great, I love veggies too. But I feel like giving my inner Neanderthal reign and charring some red meat. Then sitting out on my patio and howling at the moon!! Taters too. And beer. 🐺

    • That sounds great actually. Potatoes and meat, and a howl at the moon! Full moon is the 18th, maybe you should plan it then? Bbq sounds pretty awesome lol πŸ˜† char some veggies too! Also beer 🍻 πŸ’― yes πŸ™Œ

  5. Self-care typically takes backstage, but we can’t care for others if we don’t care for ourselves. And you are in the caregiving role as a nurse. Please do think of of yourself, my dear, Laura. No one else will care for you. I learned that the hard way.

    • Thank you for the reminder Mary πŸ™ I’m always trying to tell caregivers this as well, but it can be so easy to push aside. I’m sorry you had to learn the hard way, sometimes we are just built like this to care for others, I feel ❀️ I will try to heed the advice more 😊

  6. The cumulative effects of the gym are going to be so good for you, and for sleeping too, I bet!

Today I did laundry and beauty, masks for everything and a new nail color, skin care, etc. Felt so good. We’ll see if it helps sleep, but I’m in an okay pattern the last few days. 10/10 recommend a day just focused on caring for the millions of little things. You reminded me I neglected eyebrows, but sadly they aren’t as wild and fluffy as they used to be. ; D

    • I hope so. It’s taking a bit to get a regular schedule but I’m trying. I did really knock out last night for a while, with sleep being on the more evasive side lately. So I think it’s helping πŸ˜€

Ohhh I’m so happy to read this! 😊 I’m really glad you went and spent some time taking care of yourself, we need that. You saying that even inspires me to do more. Been so long since I’ve done nails or anything. Haha, and my eyebrows are out of control lol πŸ˜† I’ll get to them, soon enough haha 🀣

      • SO GLAD you got some sleep!! And honestly, it feels great to have done all these things on the same day, whereas I usually do one thing here another thing there. πŸ™‚

      • I get what you’re saying! I would just do one, but having a whole day dedicated to it sounds truly so lovely and I’m so glad you got to do it! And thank you 😊 ❀️
