Don’t Rest on Your Laurels

Daily writing prompt
Where did your name come from?

We all know this is a repeat prompt.

But I’m gonna have a bit of fun with it!

Laura means “crown of laurel leaves.”

Yes, I suppose crowns are a birthright of mine, after all. 😂

The name can also mean “victory.”

Indeed, I often do find myself emerging victorious from trials and tribulations.

Maybe our names do bestow certain qualities upon us.

In Ancient Rome and Greece, the laurel tree or bay laurel plant was a symbol of honor, victory, and fame and was often used to crown poets and military leaders. The name Daphne, derived from Ancient Greek, carries the same meaning.

The last time I answered this prompt, I mentioned St. Laura of Cordoba, a Spanish martyr.

I’m happy to know my name has played a role in some significant parts of history.

History is what makes us who we are, after all.

A prompt before my hiatus! I should’ve just scheduled them all beforehand, but then I wouldn’t have been on to answer, lol. 😆

If you were looking for an origin story, here it is.

    • Oh yes, I’m back now! Lol. This was written before my hiatus, it’s an old prompt.

And thank you so much! I’ll probably be releasing a few older posts soon that I wrote before I left 😆 I did enjoy the break, I’ve been taking them more often it seems. This was a bit unplanned.
“Crazy place” is sometimes definitely literal, too lol 😂
