Delusion is the Solution

Daily writing prompt
List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.

Yโ€™all know how I feel about the lists. Of things, no less.
Anyways. You asked, soโ€ฆIโ€™m gonna let it fly!

Are you sure you want to ask that? Better yet, are you sure you want to write that?
  1. WordPress needs new daily prompts.
  2. WordPress needs to not repeat said prompts.
  3. WordPress has too many glitches.
  4. WordPress needs to fix their subscriber button.
  5. WordPress needs to fix their โ€œlikeโ€ button.
  6. WordPress needs to ban people who spam-like comments. (Itโ€™s perfectly fine if you like my comment in agreement, but when you do it and itโ€™s an entire 5 pages of notifications and all my other stuff gets buried, come on!)
  7. WordPress needs to ban people who post more than 10 times in an hour (really, in a 24-hr period, but hey, to each their own).
  8. WordPress needs to stop sending me coupons, unless theyโ€™re for 90% off.
  9. WordPress needs to fix their Reader and show me posts from people that I actually want to read.
  10. Delusion is the solution.

And there you have it! Those are just my thoughts and opinions (and like certain body parts, everyone has them) which are hopefully not too offensive. Remember, nothing that anyone writes is an โ€œabsolute truthโ€ either, although Iโ€™m sure some on here would think otherwise. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope youโ€™re having a lovely weekend.

Keep the coffee strong and the delusion stronger! It seems to work for most people, anyways.

  1. You forgot 10a: Stop blacklisting me and let me run for mayor! ๐Ÿ˜„
But yes, these points are all totally valid and continued sources of frustration for many of us. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  2. Is it wrong to unfavourably compare it to how it used to be? I think so. `That said, I agree 100%
The notion of absolute truth in a literary context is vast and interesting. Now that would be a prompt. You need an English teacher!

      • Oh no, it was a compliment – you’re not happy with the daily prompt and yet you bring up a prompt of you own “absolute truth, here (a literary context)” which I (a former English teacher) thinks is brilliant – for the sheer vastness and potential of the question. I phrased it badly. It was half-four-ish and I was tired! I’ll never leave anything negative, anywhere here.

      • Haha, you said โ€œyou need an English teacher,โ€ in your original comment lol so I just assumed it was you giving me a hard time about the goofy way I had written it. Thanks for clearing that up, much appreciated! ๐Ÿ˜Š

      • I think it came out wrong – I only opened my eyes a little bit ago. I can’t even remember why I stayed up so late. I know I wanted to get my post up – it had been kicking my ass for a couple of days. I couldn’t get it to “sit down,” Spent three goes taking it apart and putting it together and was going to just leave it in my drafts – but some of it was ok.

Yeah, no – I mean you should challenge yourself, absolutely. You’ve picked a great topic by accident (a tough one but great.)

I haven’t the time to spare nor energy to waste my time on anything negative here. Quite the opposite. I like discovering really solid work, and telling them. Only an asshole with the emotional coherence of fresh, road-kill would do anything else. There’s no value to it. Anyway, I haven’t found enough really good prose yet. Can’t piss of the locals so soon, can I?

I don’t think you’re alone in being a bit GRRRR about the prompt – I’m pretty sure they were user lead once upon a time! Now I know yu may work funny hours and have the sleep schedule of a shark, but – I’d wager my dollar against your donut, that you could do better.

That’s what I was trying to say – you need an English teacher to point it out!

  3. You ever check out any of those prompt books that they sell at the store? Maybe if youโ€™re not liking the WordPress prompt, you could pull one from there! I used to be pretty consistent about writing in books like that.

    • Oh yeah, I totally have! I have some too! Thank you for the suggestion, though. The thing is, I write my own stuff too about whatever I want, but itโ€™ll never get as much traction as people actually reading in the โ€œdaily promptโ€ tags, I guess thatโ€™s why so many people veer left when they do their own posts ๐Ÿ˜‚

      • Yeeeeah, I know what you mean. Despite writing over a hundred posts, I hardly ever get much traction. Though my consistency of writing still is pretty abysmal – at least Iโ€™m a consistent reader!

      • You are! And that is very, very appreciated! You should definitely write more! Why donโ€™t you? Daily prompts not exciting for you, either? Lol ๐Ÿ˜†

      • Iโ€™ve been spending a lot of time at work lately since Iโ€™ll be traveling for a few weeks. I basically have to get all of my prep for the school year done now or Iโ€™ll be way behind. It also gets really hot in the room where I have my computer, so I donโ€™t often want to spend much time there! And yeah, the daily prompts arenโ€™t really my vibe – but I like semi-answering the questions in the comments of writers like you!

      • Haha! Awesome, you are far too kind ๐Ÿ˜Š and yeah, I get it. They suck for me too, but I answer them in an effort to write something, I suppose.
And I feel ya! I worked so much this week, hard to write anything when youโ€™re so busy with that. Donโ€™t have a lot of hours in a day to dedicate to it for sure. Where are you traveling for work?

      • Weโ€™re actually picking up a bunch of stuff that we want to bring back with us, so we will need the vehicle. Iโ€™m excited for the trip though – part of it will be seeing Niagara Falls!

I do post pics – on Instagram. Remember??? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

      • I could write an article called โ€œhow my east coast trip was like a video gameโ€ and then list a bunch of games that reminded me of the trip. Now itโ€™s connected to my brand!!

  4. Bang on! And there was me thinking it as just me being rubbish with WP and not understanding it properly.

The Reader point is 100% I have no idea why I seem to get so few posts in my reader from bloggers I have subscribed to. I always seem to be presented with ones from a select wee group.

Anyway – WP ain’t cheap these days and while I still stand by it, I have a feeling it’s starting to disappear up it’s own jacksy. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

    • ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿคฃ thank you! Yes Reader seems to do what it wants, it appears. Very annoying! And yes Iโ€™m not exactly one for spending my money on things that are gonna aggravate me further, it drives me nuts! No, youโ€™re not alone lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Thank you!! Yes, all the time! The like button too! Sometimes Iโ€™ll subscribe or โ€œlikeโ€ multiple times over and it doesnโ€™t โ€œtakeโ€โ€ฆso glitchy!

  5. Great answers Laura. I agree that WordPress which is now the Jetpack mobile app, it needs to fix it’s technical glitches, they really are annoying when writing new blog posts๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ™

I like the word “Delusion” , it feels like WordPress is deceiving us๐Ÿ˜€

  6. I finally found someone else who addressed the fact the WordPress, REALLY, but DESPERATELY needs to provide new prompts. Like, REALLY bad. I’m glad to see that I’m not the only that’s realized that over the past couple of months ๐Ÿ™

    • Haha indeed it is! There are definitely people who do post after post after post, but luckily itโ€™s in the minority, whew ๐Ÿ˜… lol and I hope you have a peaceful weekend as well!
