Futuristic Tendencies

Daily writing prompt
What are you most worried about for the future?

Hmmm.

I honestly wish I could say, “Nothing,” or even “Where I’d like to book my next vacation,” but I suppose that’s not the case.

I’ll take the futuristic ride in my space car through the galaxy, though!

I have, however, become much less bothered about things in general and my worries are often counteracted by me actually doing something to prevent it from getting worse.

But again – a prompt with a little too much of a broad scope…worry in which way?

I’ll tell you what I’m worried about – that awkward AF hand …lol umm???

How when I get such little sleep at night it may impact my health in years to come?

About the state of the world?

How much crappier customer service is getting from people who are already disconnected with such little conscience?

What disaster is going to happen next?

The consequences of how little people care nowadays?

Personally? Professionally? Globally?

Hmm…where’s all the intelligent life forms at?

Too many “well it could be…” and not in a good way!

And the future? In what timeframe?

Tomorrow?

Next month?

Years from now?

Way too many factors!

But is this what it’ll really be like hundreds of years from now? Will my soul even reincarnate that far ahead? 😂

I will say I’ve tried to adopt the mindset where I’m not excessively worrying and that there are solutions for most problems in my everyday personal life, and for that, I am blessed.

I’m a chronic over-thinker – but luckily I’ve tried to alleviate that over these last few years. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m actually proud of the work I’ve done in that regard.

I think it’s time we leave this planet…our expectations of the future were vastly overrated (but cats can breathe openly in space now, whew!)

And I think being present, living in the moment, not stuck in the past, not anticipating what you can’t control for the future – is really the best way to not overthink or worry about what’s not in our control, things that may not even matter down the road..

Being mindful. In the present.

It’s easier said than done though, I’ll acknowledge that. I’m not quite that ridiculous, after all. 😊

Of course, we all have worries. That’s natural.

I still have thoughts raging through my brain daily, but they can be less “rageful” at times, which is nice.

Yep…I think it’s time to blow this popsicle stand and fly back home!

And I will say, if I am worried about something or someone, it’s because I care.

I guess that’s a lot more than some people can say nowadays.

It’s almost the start to a new week, I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. It rained a lot here, which was nice.

PS – thank you to someone very special for your help with some of these images ❤️ you and your mad skills are always very much appreciated! 🥰 #GOAT!

  1. You are 100% right that it is not always easy, but if you focus on the things you can control, and let go of the things you can’t, life is a little bit better. Great post, Laura. Well said 😊😊

  2. Such great images, felt like I was on a twisting and turning ride! 🙂 I especially loved this:
“I will say I’ve tried to adopt the mindset where I’m not excessively worrying and that there are solutions for most problems in my everyday personal life, and for that, I am blessed.”

Most corporate-speak is ridiculous, but I’ve always liked the phrase ‘Control the controlables.’ 🙂

    • I’m trying! 😆 Lol! I agree on the corporate-speak with you there, but it is a good saying. The thing that grinds my gears is I used to have a nurse manager that said “Team” for everything. To the point where it became a literal joke between me and others. I’m allergic to that word now. It makes me cringe lmao 🤣
Sorry, off-topic haha! And thank you, I tried to make it fun in my own way, because I feel like “worrying” for me is definitely a territory I try not to step back into if I can.

      • 😂 🤣 😆 I know how it I can be! That’s the phrase everyone thinks of, I think…it wouldn’t bother me as much but it was the way she said it though, super condescending, you know? Not like we really were a team or whatever. As you said, that whole corporate speak really can be silly haha. 🤣

      • I sent my manager a TikTok of “Corporate Erin”, and I think she wondered if I was trying to tell her something. 🙂

      • Hahahah!!! Omg, have you seen the guy, I can’t remember his name, he’s like “YOU’RE AN ELITE EMPLOYEE!!” Omg, my coworker showed me that, I was dying laughing, if you haven’t seen that yet you gotta watch him

I had to look up his name, it’s mainlymannie.

      • They would be far too much!! I can’t even imagine, did you see the one where he was in the drive thru? That one got me pretty hard 😆

  3. Very easy to worry but try not to overthink the things we can’t control. When all else fails, spend some time doing something you love. Tonight, I hooked up my Super Nintendo to a projector and put it out on my deck next to my fire pit. Not a worry in the world 😊

    • So true! Sounds like a very nice setup you have there to just relax and not worry too much! I agree doing what we love often helps to ease our worries, it’s just putting that aside and really focusing on feeling better instead of falling into the worry trap at times! 😊

    • Thanks Mary! Very kind of you. Luckily I’ve worked pretty hard on my mental health and anxiety and feel pretty much ok 😊 it’s the work stress that leads to burnout! Haha

  5. The images are great! I agree with you 100% about living in the present. My daughter has always done that naturally, and I admire her so much. I have a lot to work on in that department, but it’s worth working on. 🌺

    • Thanks, Kymber! And I agree with you there, it hasn’t always been easy for me either, but I’ve realized I’m making it so much harder on myself if I’m just worrying. That’s awesome your daughter has that natural tendency, I do have to work at it and be mindful! But yes, something for us to work on 😊 thanks again 🩷
