I’m a really big fan of disconnecting to reconnect. Head to heart, feeling and unfeeling, a bit of a conundrum, but I’m all about dualities, the complements of the dark and the light, and all the things. A paradox and a contradiction, with opposing forces which are also intertwined and inseparable.

Haha. What?
For once (or twice, who’s really keeping track) in my tenure of answering daily prompts, hereβs one that lines up almost too perfectly with my current situation, considering Iβm about to be off of work for another week (after working a grand total of 72 hours in 6 days, plus a 2 hour drive) so, very fitting! Unplugging, definitely needed.
I feel like this is similar to the βHow do you unwind from a difficult dayβ prompt from not too long ago, but I never answered that one, anyways (still in drafts, haha) sooo, without further ado, letβs get crackin.

*rubs palms together*
In my mind, itβs always time to unplug once youβve had a difficult day, a rough workweek, or just when youβre feeling a bit burnt out. Disconnecting from reality can be healthy – wandering and musing that I always talk about, even a little day dreaming? Good.
Iβve said on here before, the term βescapistβ has a bit of a negative connotation, and in fact, yes it most certainly can, howeverβ¦a little escaping reality is good for us at times (as long as we do it in ways that are healthy, and not detrimental or destructive to our body or mind) *cough*

Anyways, enough yammering.
I like to read. I like to write.
I like to use meditation and dreams to unplug, if the ether-world is cooperating with me and not speaking in riddles. π
Recently Iβve been studying hypnosis and frequencies more. Thatβs fun. Energy healing work is always enjoyable, but even that you don’t want to overdo, difficult spiritual work can also sometimes lead to burn-out. Only. in. small. doses.
Any artistic endeavor or expression, listening to music, playing music, creating art.
Letβs not forget exercise. A great way to unplug and let all the rage out, which often builds up for me personally, when I need to unplug. This is honestly the quickest fix for me to feel well, and I havenβt been doing it enough lately.
Swimming. Submerged below the surface of the water, feeling weightless, it feels like a whole other world. Diving, too.
A vacation. Hah, nothing says unplugging like a damn vacation to another location, even if itβs not that far away, to just do nothing else but relax. And I am long overdue!

Recently one of the mediums I work with (it’s no surprise to anyone that I’ve been studying mediumship/channeling for some time, right? If you were unaware, I’m sorry, but you must not be paying attention super close) advised me some “spiritual rest.” I was annoyed, because, how the hell was I going to develop if I was in a state of rest?

Iβm a woman of action, I really like to always be developing and leveling up in the highest way I can. So stopping, slowing down, while good, (especially with things we need to be practicing, like self-care) feels sometimes like it throws a monkey wrench in my plans, at times.

Sorry for the barrage of images…but it is important for me to digest, for lack of a better word – especially since the conversation took place about a month ago, and lots of interesting mirror images presented in my life, spiritually and otherwise, to reflect back to me the path Iβm on.
The point? Rest and disconnection is good for growth and introspection.
And for our sanity.

I feel like when I get to ‘rest’ it is very clear, like, it’s not subtle at all. The issue is that I linger around rest but don’t plunge in enough to forget/reset, which is really different than shifting into a lower gear. Rest is like this sacred profound thing/place from which creativity flows.

Oddly enough, I have been immensely creative lately! As you even mentioned a few days or a week or so back about my writing and poems, and possibly things unraveling in dreams. I do feel more contented with the βrestβ aspect, before I was worried about my development but it feels like itβs truly needed now. Thanks for saying that, a definite confirmation that it feels like the right thing, itβs been about a month since she said βrestβ, and it feels like things are starting brew a bit again.
However, I do need actual rest, rest. Off here in hopefully 30 mins! ππ€

Its actually called recharging isn’t it?!! Enjoyed your post as alwaysπ

Haha, yea! Recharging instead of unplugging. π You are so right! And thank you so much π

Everyone gives “rest” a bad connotation, and tends to equate it with “lazy”.
You know what? Call it whatever the fuck you want, I really don’t care. You don’t walk in my shoes, so don’t tell me what shoes to wear.
Call it rest, call it lazy, sloth, inactivity. I really don’t give a damn. When it’s needed, it’s needed.

I love rest. π itβs not lazy at all to want to feel well and be rested, because then we canβt function to our highest level. I agree, no one should be telling anyone what they should be doing, especially since rest certainly isnβt the most evil of vices ππ€£

I’s usually the dickheads that sleep eight or nine hours a night dispensing their valuable knowledge and passing judgement on everyone, because all sleep is clearly created equal.

Hahaha!! Thatβs very well true! βYou must be lazy, but I sleep very well at night in bed!!β Yep, I have a few of those at my job. Must be nice, working a normal schedule! Also, yesβ¦some of us are sufferers of broken sleep

The majority don’t understand it, which is fine. The frustrating part is that they don’t want to either.

Well, the majority of people are self-absorbed and donβt care. βYou work at night?!? Omg how do you do that??? I could never!!!β π

Ah dualities and escapism, some of my favorite topics. I couldnβt agree more about the necessity of disconnection, nor could what you said about slowing down throwing a monkey wrench be more relatable. I find stopping ends up being a forceful act, which feels counterintuitive and also produces at least some degree of guilt. Sometimes I think I even feel too tired to stop, if that makes sense. But I have to, and so I find little ways and big ways, like having a blog and finding cool shit to read like your stuff here. So thanks for helping me stop today.

btw if you’re at all interested in snooping, here’s my page: undercoverofobscurity.wordpress.com. My profile isn’t updated with that site yet, only the one I threw away in a fit of stopping

Rest and disconnection are good indeed, and you have sooo many interesting hobbies! Do you learn about hypnoses on courses or yourself? Unplugging with dreams β€
Not always that amazing and inspiring….
Yes, spiritual work can burn you out, definitely I went through that too!
PS: I probably misunderstood this daily prompt, I thought it was about taking breaks from the internet π
English isn't my native languageπ

Well, it certainly can encompass that, and often does. Meaning unplugging, what do you do to disconnect from the outside world, and that can most certainly be social media or the internet, but for me unplugged means a lot of time unplugging from work which is currently not happening since a coworker is texting me! π
Yes, definitely need to avoid burnout.
Spiritual work, Iβm sure youβve been there, yes, can feel like a whole job in and of itself. Thanks so much β€οΈ Iβm sure your post is amazing, havenβt had a chance to read it yet but will shortly π

Maybe it won't be a bad decision to silence her messages for a while? – Your choice anyway π
I hope that now you'll have enough time to replenish your powers β€
