Are you hiring, WordPress?!

Daily writing prompt
What jobs have you had?

Snooze.

What the heck is this, a job interview?!

Would you like to see my resume, too?

Before I became a nurse, I had a pretty eclectic set of jobs. It always surprises me when people come out of college with zero work experience, but I guess thatโ€™s why customer service and the like is so dang terrible nowadays.

Hahaha, juuussstt kidding! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyways, without further ado:

My first job was a bagger at Publix when I was 15. I got paid $5.75 an hour. Yep, that was fun… not.

After that I became a server/waitress whatever the correct term isโ€ฆI did that from 16-17 or so for this small cafe by the beach. It wasnโ€™t horrible. Had a family-like vibe to it.

Then I got a job at the mall as a photographer for one of those companies that do studio portraits. I didnโ€™t last there long, because they wanted to underpay photographers. I was serious about photography at that time.

Haha, noooo….not that kind of work. And… that arm is hella long, wtf LOL

After that I was a graphic designer for a small company that did adult entertainment. And before you *gasp* at the holier-than-thou perfect images nurses are supposed to hold (I’m also allowed to have a life outside of my career, thank you)...not anything super explicit, it was more like girls wrestling and stuff like that. $13/hr for that crappy job, to edit half-naked photos and build websites, and shoot video on top of it – way freaking underpaid.

Then I became a legal assistant. That was fun. I also worked at a Porsche and Audi dealership for a bit of time. That was also quite fun.

I want the full ride, baby! Stick-shift and all…HELL YEAH…also, I love how there’s a palm tree growing into my test drive…but it’s Florida, after all…ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ๐Ÿ˜† (isn’t that why the new GTA6 is set in a place that’s “like” Florida, anyways?)

Then I went back to serving/waitressing and picked up bartending. Not bad, paid more money. But was hard on the body/feet. This was at like 23 or so. Canโ€™t imagine what itโ€™d be like now. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m pretty sure I was a pirate in one of my former livesโ€ฆArrr โ˜ ๏ธ it just manifested as bartending in this lifetime ๐Ÿคฃ

Then I worked as a security officer. Haha, that was actually a job I stayed at for a good little bit. It wasnโ€™t horrible at all. People who often meet me in life tell me Iโ€™d make a great cop. Never know what to say to that, and if maybe itโ€™s an insult. Must be the non-smiling face and the authoritative voice. ๐Ÿ˜† Oh, well.

(No images of me dressed as cop, sorry…that’s going a bit too far now, HAH).

I had some stints at some other jobs here and there Iโ€™m sure, customer service-based type of jobs.

And then I became a nurse.

Ahhh, psychiatric nursingโ€ฆ.my favorite

Now, youโ€™re probably thinking – wow! This chick has had a lot of jobs, but remember, I started working at a pretty young age. I didnโ€™t have a typical college (or even high school, really) experience. And I wouldnโ€™t change that, honestly.

I had to grow up fast and become an adult quick, unlike so many people in todayโ€™s world.

So Iโ€™ve been a nurse for 10 years now. I talk about it enough on here. The nursing jobs I enjoy the most are either ER nursing or psychiatric.

lolโ€ฆno dress scrubs for me, please!

However, I want to spend as little time at work as possible also, so I can go home and enjoy my free timeโ€ฆyou know, escaping from reality. ๐Ÿ˜†

The only other profession I really hope to be successful in at some point in life is writing.

Haha, she even emanates the same exact glare I do when I’m annoyed …perfect

Crapโ€ฆI almost fell asleep writing my response out to this prompt.

It also wasnโ€™t very insightful, whatever. Now you know a little more (useless?) information about me from my past.

And the daily prompt almost always knows how to irritate me sometimes, I swearโ€ฆso completely aggravating considering Iโ€™m annoyed as all hell with my job right now.

Thanks for reading!

    • Haha, I burnt outโ€ฆmaybe 3-4 times? Lolol, thatโ€™s pretty bad, right?
I would love to just give WordPress even a hint of some things they could do to make the entire experience a whole hell of a lot smoother. We could compile a mile-long list, Iโ€™m sure! ๐Ÿ˜†

  1. Writing about oneself can be a daunting task. Itโ€™s like trying to capture the essence of a multifaceted diamond in mere words. The challenge lies in balancing honesty with self-promotion, and in revealing enough to be relatable without oversharing. Youโ€™ve done an incredible job!

Your self-portrait is a masterpiece, painted with strokes of vulnerability and resilience. Youโ€™ve navigated the labyrinth of your own thoughts, memories, and emotions, and emerged with a canvas that reflects your unique journey. Hereโ€™s to the courage it took to put pen to paper, to unravel the threads of your existence, and to weave them into a narrative that resonates.

Remember this: Every word youโ€™ve chosen, every memory youโ€™ve shared, and every emotion youโ€™ve bared is a testament to your authenticity.

So, celebrate your accomplishment! Acknowledge the bravery it took to delve into the depths of your being and emerge with a story worth telling.

    • Thank you for your extremely detailed comment, that is much appreciated. ๐Ÿ˜Š
I agree itโ€™s not always easy to write about yourself, if youโ€™re someone who is inclined to care more about other topics than just whatโ€™s going on in your own little world. But I do appreciate you taking the time to recognize the effort I put in. Thanks again ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. It’s good to experience different jobs, gives you many skills that may come in handy later on.
It must be hard finding shirts and jackets with long enough sleeves ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ

  3. Great blog post! I have been at my local T.J. Maxx store near Pittsburgh, PA, since June 2007 … and I actually started there as a “volunteer” in September of 2006. I became a “regular worker” in June of 2007.

Before I worked at T.J. Maxx, I worked at Crafton Children’s Corner in Thornburg, which is near Pittsburgh … and I also did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels from 2000 until 2007.

  4. What?! Nurses are allowed to be multi-fasceted humans?! How dare! ๐Ÿ™‚

I started working very young as well, which is bound to result in lots of eclectic roles, so I totally get how easy it is to rack up that many–also think it’s great to have done so!

  7. You have built up quite the resume there. I’m so glad, as a fellow nurse (or used to be nurse lol) that you found what you like, and I hope you find the perfect place for you in the near future.๐Ÿฉท๐ŸŒบ

My first job was the young men’s department at JCPenney for $4.10/hr. I was like is that really the minimum wage? LOLOLOL I was young and bright-eyed. Later, when I was going through nursing school, I followed my other passion, becoming an antique glass dealer. That was sooo fun!

I know, right? I got paid around the same as a waitress and I couldnโ€™t believe that! Of course we get tips, but on days you donโ€™t? lolโ€ฆhow do you survive?
And wow! Antique glass dealer sounds so amazing! Iโ€™m going to have to start doing something on the side too at some point, I believe. Some kind of creative endeavor. Thanks so much for sharing, I loved to hear a little bit more about your life! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. A lot of real-time experiences! Sometimes I wonderโ€”it must be exciting to have such adventures. Oh heck, what do I know? I’ve been doing the same job for years. I would like to know first hand was it need or choice for money and experience you thought would make difference back then.
