The moon, it haunts, like a Cheshire Cat smile,
Lingering in the shadows, teasing all the while.
Down the rabbit hole I go, deep into my mind,
Lost in the abyss, with thoughts intertwined.
Plaguing my dreams, the curse of second sight,
Visions surrounding me, with flashes of light.
A mind of madness, raging through fantasy’s flight,
With hopes to emerge, from this never-ending night.
The moon taunting me, an enigmatic grin,
And still deeper I go, a trance from within.
Embracing the lunacy, the chaos of the mind,
I let go of control, and let the journey unwind.
©️ Laura Bennett
I wrote this a few days ago, during a particularly aggravating night at work. I was annoyed by the overall energy, however reading it back now, it’s still valid in my feelings. I have to get better about posting some of the lunacy of my mind, after all. (The moon is no longer a Cheshire Cat’s smile either, but almost full in several days!)
Thanks for reading!

“Only a few find the way, some don’t recognize it when they do – some… don’t ever want to.” – Chesire Cat, from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Embrace the chaos, as they say. May as well…it’s certainly not going away lol

The unraveling of chaos is often much fun
It’s when madness takes hold, you start to become undone
…we can keep going and write a poem, lmao (since you rhymed first) 😆

Chaos is perception and perception is a lie.
Perception’s what you sell yourself when you’d rather up and die.
Where I see down, you may see up. It’s perspective don’t you see.
We can look at the same thing, but both see it differently.

Deeper and deeper into the mind we go,
Curiouser and curiouser do your reflections show.
And though with some perceptions may often come lies,
The truth is usually there, right before your very eyes.

But is it just a lie or a different kind of truth?
I wish I had more knowledge, but I’m really not that sooth
The one thing I can tell you, and this I surely know
Right when you’re about to stand, life deals another blow

It’s true, that life’s journey can leave us feeling rejected,
And things often manifest in ways unexpected.
However, with healing and time, you will reclaim your power,
And in that moment, you’ll stand tall in the coming hour.

Yep, we all are crazy, it’s just that some pretend to fit in better than others. Actually, the majority (organizes, controls) sets the norms in society; if you don’t belong to the majority, you are inevitably crazy.
Chaos is inherently crazy, for it can’t be controlled.
Chaos is creative, chaos is painful, chaos threatens stability and calmness. But it depends on us, which we prefer, the road we choose, and where we want to end up 😉
I used to experience a lot of emotional chaos, I still do, so I feel you on that 🙂
I love Alice in Wonderland, thank you for referring to it ❤
Wonderful poems – the one posted and the ones in the comments 🙂

Thank you lady! We all most definitely have some levels of crazy, I will agree there! Haha, I can understand not fitting in with society, I’ve always done that quite nicely! 🙂 Control is what we don’t need more of, for sure. And I agree chaos and darkness can also be beautiful and brilliant. I think we are well-aligned in that way! ❤️🙏
Alice in Wonderland, and down the rabbit hole is often where I like to go…searching, searching…for something, anyways.
And thank you, that little bit of chaos between us there was impromptu, but we seemed to roll with it quite nicely! haha 😆

Great post, Laura! You and Kevin should collaborate more often, your poem in the comments deserves its own post 👏👍😊

Thank you so very much, Brian! 🙏😆 We definitely can collaborate, if he is so inclined, there might be a few things we can agree on – chaos being one of them. LOL. I hope your week is starting out well! 😊

Great energy in this somehow. It seems you write from frustration as well as you do from other expressions you’ve shown. I feel so lucky to get to read. 🙂

Thank you!!! 😊 so glad you like it and think it comes off as good energy 😆 I definitely took a few days of wondering if I liked it enough to post lol ❤️ hope your day went ok!

So glad you eventually posted! Indeed it does have great energy, in fact. I’m feeling very weak today, maybe the heat, and honestly coming home to read this today lifted my spirits a lot.
As an aside, interesting phrase ‘lifting my spirits’, huh? Which spirits did you lift? Spirit of introspection and wandering? Mischief and play? aota? ❤

Oooh no, I was feeling that way recently, too! 😢 I was just saying how I think the heat makes us sick, honestly, not the cold! It just seems to make us feel so dang sluggish. Glad to hear the uplifting, though- let’s go with the spirit of good health, since you need rest and to soak all the aches and aggravations away! ❤️ and then after we can focus on the spirit of dreams and introspection! Haha 😆 hopefully for a peaceful rest!

Sluggish and my eyes hurt… so bright! Ouch. I’m a big baby and will whine like this all summer. 🙂 I do intend to be extra nice to myself though, and slow down as needed.

Ahhh my eyes were burning too! Wasn’t sure if maybe it was allergies?
Yes, please 🙏 be kind to yourself, you deserve it 😊

Maybe partly allergies, but I also think the sun is harsh for eyes during what I’m calling summer now. Might as well accept Spring is over. 🙂

It’s been over. We have 2 seasons. Summer, and Summer Jr. lol 😆 there’s a guy on TikTok and YouTube, I don’t know if you’ve ever seen him – omgitswicks- he makes a ton of Florida videos and that’s where I got that from. Hilarious, but true. 2 weeks of “winter,” maybe 😆

YES, I’ve definitely seen him. So funny because he’s just making true observations in a hilarious way. 🙂
I came across a Floridian gardener on TikTok the other day, Ms.Jeannie. She basically said if you live in So Fla and missed planting, too late. All you can do is prepare for next time. She’s pretty entertaining too.

Oh, nice!!! I’ll have to check her out, haha. Love the fellow Floridian humor! We are special 😂
