Follow the Leader?

Are you a leader or a follower?

*starts typing*

Delete, delete.

*tap, tap, tap*

Hmm…no, that doesn’t quite sound right either.

*thinking deeply….but not too deep*

Wellllllll thank you to WordPress for another inspiring prompt! A little bit of divisiveness and all that, always fun.

Whatever…let’s hash it out, shall we?

😂 🤣….she doesn’t really look like me, but hey, I need a little humor.

You can’t really be in my position in life without being a leader of some sort. You’ll get eaten alive. I’ve seen it far too many times.

However, you are often someone’s bitch too, for lack of a better way to say it.

This prompt is annoying me further and further, as the impending work hours are getting closer and closer as I type this. 🙄

Needless to say, we all want to be the leader of our own lives. I think that’s fair and accurate.

Who doesn’t?

Some people have natural leader tendencies.

I was born under a Cardinal sign (here she goes, talking about astrology!) and they are known for their leadership qualities.

“Cardinal signs are known as the alphas of the zodiac, and are also referred to as the leaders, trendsetters, and “idea people” of the zodiac. They are known for being visionaries who can tolerate new beginnings and change, and are able to make things happen out of thin air. They are also known as visionary leaders and self-starters, and can be seen weaving a plan to achieve the impossible.” – some random Google explanation on Cardinal signs.

Great. Fun! Now that I feel like a major butthole for some reason, like it’s my birthright to be a leader or something. Definitely not, and hopefully not coming off that way or implying that.

I do often find people look to me for guidance and help, and that is so loved and appreciated. It’s nice to be able to help people, to listen to them, and to help find them solutions, whether it be in regard to their health or otherwise.

However, even if I give said advice or direction or guidance, I always feel like people do whatever the hell they want, and that’s fine too.

That’s their well-earned choice.

I feel like I learned nothing insightful from this prompt.

Except that I really need to just go out, and do my wandering and musing so I don’t have to worry about the intricacies of who’s following, who’s leading, and what difference it really makes, after all.

I guess I’m just annoyed because I’m desperately trying to disconnect from work, always. And leadership doesn’t have to center around work, at all – but it’s the most I could think of.

I hope you all are having a great week so far!

    • Awwww *blushes* 🥰 haha, thank you sooo much! Your appreciation means the world to me, lovely! ❤️ and yeah, I feel you on the not being controlled part, I’m there, too. Thank you as always for your beautiful words! 🙏 they mean the most. 😊 You are magic, as well! ✨ Hope the weather has been good by you (it’s too hot here, and not in the good way!!) lol 😆

  2. Oh man! Excellent! So funny, too. Only a leader has this sort of awareness of the kid in the back who might be rolling their eyes. They’re always there! hehe

Usually the only teachers/leaders who know them well enough to head them off are the ones who have also been them. 🙂

But yes, some wandering seems a good prescription! I just wandered the mall with my son who wanted to check out a closing Sam Ash music store (5% is NOT a closing discount) and it was weirdly, very relaxing. I’m not big on malls, but they become more interesting when it is 98* outside.

    • Haha, I appreciate that! I do feel like that, in fact I did use that 🙄 lol to express how I felt. It depends on how good the teachers are, right?? Sometimes they can either really help or hinder.
Oh that’s interesting, I used to love going to Sam Ash when we were all teenagers. 5% is a joke!! 😆 but I definitely don’t blame you, it’s soooo incredibly hot and disgusting out ugh 😩

    • Absolutely, that’s very true. I often have people telling me I should be a manager or whatever, and I’m like nahhhh I’m good. Don’t want the responsibility. Pass! Haha. 😆 but you are very right, it’s often something we are led (pun?) to do because it’s just who we are, innately.

  3. Wonderfully-written, as always ❤ Your job, your life requires a strong character to go on and cope, additionally you have a very strong charisma which I admire deeply 🙂 Your fire is impossible to hide 🙂
The prompt itself is… hmm. For me it was depressing a bit. And I think we have more variants and roles than a choice between lider and follower.

    • Thank you so much for saying that! ❤️ I admire you too, you are so giving of yourself and how you help others in need of guidance! 😊 haha and thank you! 🔥 we have our fire, don’t we?
I know this prompt made me a little annoyed. It WAS kinda depressing as there’s so many different sides to it as you stated well. 😊

  5. Great little self-conversation there Laura, your writing is always intriguing to read…as you never know what is coming next as you scroll down the page😊. I guess as a Nurse you have to be a kind of nurturing-leader? but humans being a collection of habits often just wont listen, as I can tell you are aware of! Apologies for dragging the conversation back to your work. Hope you are having a wonderful day whatever you are up to. Best…Jay😊

  6. I think I’m neither leader nor follower. I live a very solitary lifestyle, at least offline.

Online is a whole other story. I tend to be clearly a leader. Years ago, before I withdrew from my community for a long period of self-reflection & prayer, I was railing against censorship of art on a very popular social network. I had tons of fans, and had established for myself a name that went way outside of my core followers.

Guess I’m four days and four followers into my next chapter of mischief.
