Soul Contract (NTT entry)

This is an entry for Kevin’s No Theme Thursday.

You sold your soul, all for clout,

Now you’ll pay, without a doubt.

Contracts are a binding, complete transaction,

Used for money, power, and distraction.

Pay back your debts, maybe not in this life,

Karma comes raging in, full of strife.

You least expect it, it slaps you down,

You’re in so deep, you feel you’ll drown.

When there’s no way out, and now you’re stuck,

Don’t run to me, you’re out of luck.

“Selling your soul” is not always as direct as selling it to the devil or an entity. You can accumulate karma in the lives you lead, from the choices you make- good or bad, which must be paid out in various of next lifetimes over, when we are born again and again. We can sell our souls to things like our jobs, for money, for success, or even as something as painful as a bad relationship or addiction. You always have to resolve your karma for the contract to be released. It’s not easy, and karma is often a painful transaction, but a necessary and hard, unforgiving teacher of life.
Unfortunately, I know a few too many people who have “sold their soul” all for the wrong reasons. In the past, I would always be willing to pull them out of the fire, but no longer is that the case. Learn your lesson. 👋

  1. I like that you included distraction in this. It’s sometimes the accumulated daily escape from even slight discomforts that can sinks us, not just huge desires. Love it.
