To write or not to write?

No, I don’t want to lose an hour of sleep

That is the question.

I have a 35-day writing streak here I’d hate to break.

I do need to build the habit of writing. That was a goal of mine.

Although I love digital writing, I need to be putting pen to paper, simply for the energetic exchange of it all.

But unfortunately, I have been feeling less than inspired.

(Prompts definitely aren’t helping)

It’s hard to sometimes conjure up something I’m not too excited to write about to begin with. It does sometimes help get some ideas and flow going, but not in the way I want.

I do think it lies in part to the draining nature of work the last few weeks.

Blah blah blah. No one wants to hear me bitch about my job that I chose, and no one wants to hear me go on about lack of creativity in writing.

Maybe I’m extra bitchy from the hour of sleep I lost last night, ugh.

My good friend @plasticwarriorpaul did message me a few days ago and said, “Lots of good posts this week, Dang.” (In reference to my social handles/nickname, danglaura).

Huh?

“What do you mean lol” I queried, oh so elegantly.

“‎On your WordPress. Lots of good posts. Really good writing girl!”

Well, thank you.

Perhaps he was just being nice and encouraging, but I’ve definitely been in a bit of a writing rut these past few …days, weeks?

What to do?

Perhaps it’s time for me to plan an escape.

For inspiration, that is.

Peaceful Sunday, all.

  1. I’ve sometimes wanted to divide my blog between Real Writing and Just Daily Sh*t, but the truth is there are gems in daily casual posts and I don’t think it could ever been divided cleanly. Also, I like reading posts like this and other bloggers basic daily stuff. 🙂

    • Yes! Actually I have multiple actual physical journals for different purposes (dreaming, manifesting, etc) haha and I’ve also thought about creating different journals for such because maybe I don’t want my rants always mixed in with some of my other stuff, or perhaps not all my followers want to read about a strange dream I’ve had that only makes sense to me 😂 but I’m with you, I definitely like to read different stuff mixed in as well. It makes the person seem authentic, anyhow 😊

      • This is why I want to get better at databases and spreadsheets, because I’ve kept so many journals over the years, but wouldn’t know where to begin to look for certain things. Still, I definitely hear you about pen and paper. There’s something about writing that way which taps into the subconscious more quickly, or directly, or, something!

      • Yes, I think it’s the physical act of writing that allows it to have some more power behind it, thought and intentions, plus it’s supposed to be good for your brain!

  2. It is part of being a writer. I have been editing one chapter of my book, and every time I look at it, I am still not happy. Whether you are putting pen to paper, or typing on a computer. It only has to be a sentence and you are writing.

  3. I’ve had plenty of these off days too when new ideas just aren’t sparking as normal. Prompts can be tricky as well when you’re being steered into writing something that just doesn’t hold your interest either. Hope your creative muse returns from her holiday away! 🙂

    • Thank you! I appreciate your comments, and I’m glad I’m not the only one, as it can feel like often we have so much building up inside of us but just no way to let it out. Prompts are indeed tricky, as sometimes they do spark inspiration, but on other days, not so much 😊
