What is the last thing you learned?

Dream recall.
Why is this important to learn?
(For me, anyways. But I think everyone is able to understand the significance as it relates to themselves).
Because I receive important messages in my dreams.
The more vivid and profound the dreams are, the more messages I can pick up.
I have to write them down, however. Or else I’ll forget.
Oftentimes I would have 4-6 of these dreams a night.
Sometimes remembering many, and sometimes none at all.
The problem is the alarm clock.
That’s right, the mundane world.
As soon as I’m woken up unnaturally, I forget everything.
Damn 3D reality with jobs and stuff ! 😂
One thing that’s hard to master: I can be having a very important conversation in my dreams with someone, and I’ll tell myself, “yes, I’ll remember this later,” hours go by, and then I forget!
For over a year, (now it’s actually probably closer to 2 years) my mentor kept telling me to PAY ATTENTION and try to recall my dreams as I’m receiving information of importance and significance in them.
And WRITE. She always tells me to write.
“Even if it doesn’t make sense at the time.”
It’s not some regular dream.
It was really hard for a long time.
It still is, on occasion. Hell, maybe more than on occasion. If I’m stressed or work is particularly taxing, or I have to work out anxiety in a venting dream.
Eventually, she told me I would maybe even start to be able to automatic write.
Which is something I’ve always wanted to master, and now it’s starting to happen more often.
It’s interesting because people will say they are just dreams.
But often enough when I have them, they are aligning with reality.
Mastering my intuition is another beast.
As someone who’s prone to anxiety, it’s often such a deep need to KNOW what is actually the truth, and what is just a manifestation of said anxiety.
The experience is becoming easier.
The knowing; the feeling.
We should always be learning, as we often are a work in progress.
My subconscious knows there’s something deeper going on.
And I’m finally beginning to understand it.

Not to dismiss the rest of your post, but I have to get this out of the way…
Holy shit! A pay phone? 😄
Your observations about dreams are fascinating. I often remember that I had dreams, but I rarely remember what they’re about.

I know!!! 😂 it was the weirdest thing to me too! It doesn’t work of course, but I was like…damn!! A piece of history, right here! Almost like in the twilight zone, haha

I’m sure it felt like a trip back in time. I have not seen one of those in…Hell, I honestly can’t remember. lol

Right!!! It’s like remembering dreams…it’s there but…what the hell happened?!? Hahaha

Indeed. Like I said, I will know I had a dream, but damned if I can remember a damned thing about them lol

It’s actually great if you can start recalling them. It really helps with my creativity also, I feel. It takes a lot of work, but writing them down and keeping a dream journal helps. But I’m doing it for that purpose, not everyone wants to or sees the need, which is ok too lol

I can see where that would be fruitful yes. I also sometimes throw on white noise when I sleep, which I find helps to calm me a bit. Not sure if it helps, hinders or makes no difference in dream recalls, but I like it lol

I think it helps actually. I have to listen to sounds too, it helps distract my overactive mind 😂 Most people would probably say total silence is best but it’s hard to sleep that way sometimes haha

No, I like a bit of noise. I agree with you on that. 👍

I kept dream journals for several years, but stopped a few years ago when it began recalling far less. Varying work patterns have me relying on alarms far more. Wah.
I completely sign on to everything you’ve written here about how the practice helps tap into creativity. For a few years I hosted an online dream talk and that was very helpful for several of us in learning to get more dreamy in general, but a few who attended tried and tried and still had trouble logging. It does seem some are more inclined this way than others.

That’s very true! I can have a week where I have crazy vivid and real dreams, but when that damn alarm starts it’s just impossible to recall. I started to really just take it seriously more due to the experiences I was having.
That’s so awesome you used to host an online dream talk. Really cool! I would love to talk to you more about your experiences sometime if you’re open to it! 😊

I’d love that. 🙂 Maybe your post has sparked me into getting back into paying attention this way, too.
I’m going to be writing a dreamy post tonight in response to erichagmann’s question. Hope the work day doesn’t seem longer for wanting to get home to that. hah

Awesome! That would be so cool. Can’t wait to read your post! And I feel ya on the workday stuff. Lately since things have seemed so long and drawn out for me during days, it can sometimes be a struggle to remember.
I just read something that said REM sleep is actually healing. I’ll try to see if I can find it. I try not to put pressure on myself to remember, and i find that actually helps, instead of saying “you have to remember!!!” lol 😂

Oh! I may have seen the same thing and taken a screen shot :::checks::::
Hm, no. What I took a screenshot of was something about brainwaves facilitating the flow of cerebrospinal fluid? It was an IG post and didn’t fill in enough detail for me, but I made note to look it up later.

That’s interesting, I’ve never heard of that. I’ll see if I can find what I was talking about, but I have to really search for it, haha

All seriousness… I have not recalled a dream in over ten years. Very few throughout life.

Right? One time, on my way home from school, a friend passed a school bus on a two lane and cut it almost too close and I thought she was going to die. Camaro, 80’s. Anyway, went home fell asleep. Woke up, thought it was morning because the family was having breakfast for dinner and I had to ask them if Angie, my friend, had died. LOL Boy were we all confused. I guess I dreamed she died or woke up too early. That being said, glad I don’t!
