Who are your favorite people to be around?

The easy answer to this question is obviously loved ones, friends, family.
But what about the more complex answer?
Self.
(Yeah, Iβm gonna take the chance and go there).
Do I like being around myself?
I do, actually.
But so many people donβt.
So many people canβt just be with themselves.
They always have to have someone around, to have a βrelationshipβ or just be around others to feel whole and normal.
This is where self-love and healthy self-concept plays a major role in our lives.
Donβt worry, Iβm not an expert.
Iβm still working on it myself.
Self-love is always a work in progress.
One of the most important parts of developing self-love and your healthy self-concept is to start doing the inner work.
What is my soulβs purpose here?
How do I achieve enlightenment or ascension?
How do I feel complete and whole through my self, and not seek validation through others?
Itβs a work in progress. It can take years.
Iβve never been the type to seek validation. I donβt need someone to tell me how great I am.
But Iβve always put others before myself.
Others needs, others wants.
Iβve been told by my mentor even, that I always do this.
Maybe it has something to do with always taking care of everyone.
So this is why – loving yourself enough – being with yourself
is so important.
Setting healthy boundaries.
Saying no when appropriate.
Practicing gratitude.
Nourishing your body.
Realizing your worth and virtue.
You have to like yourself, in order to be your whole self.
You have to feel comfortable enough to be with your thoughts, your body, your heart, your mind – physically, emotionally, mentally, and yes, spiritually.
No one else can complete you.

I spent far too long putting everyone else before me. Never again.

Yes, we have to realize that if we put everyone else first, whoβs putting us first?!

Your post reminds me of a quote I once read: “And if I asked you to name all the things that you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?” It really made me think. It’s heartening to know that “self” was one of the first things you thought of.
