Well hello there – I’m back!

I can’t believe it has been almost a year since I have written.
And what a horrible year. 2023 has not been kind to me.

Let’s re-cap the good and the bad, shall we?

My beloved Lucy passed on January 21st. That was the start of many a bad thing. I still miss her. But I am hoping she is happy and at peace, and that we will someday re-unite in the afterlife.

I was on a journey to work-out every day in 2023 and become my absolute best self – and it was working, until I became violently ill at the end of March until mid-May with pan-colitis, which entailed a trip to the emergency room and several round of antibiotics, with many different doctor visits, and out of work for a bit (a blessing that was, however). 20 lbs lost, and not in a good way. Initially, I was also diagnosed wrongly and the doctor gave me a medication that made me even more ill. I had even told him based on my symptoms that I believed it to be the wrong medication – but what do I know, I’m only a nurse, after all.

I was lying in my bed and my heart was racing, I was feverish and I had actual hallucinations. Has anyone ever played Mario? Do you know the theme for when Mario loses his last life, the game-over tone? Yeah, that’s what I was hearing, I’m not even kidding, and I was only 2 doses in. I stopped that medication immediately and was later told by my gastroenterologist what an absolute moron that doctor was – Thank God I had some sort of medical knowledge to know better.

Regardless of all that, I believed I have healed well. I’ve tried to purge quite a bit from my life. During the time that I was ill I had many people show me great concern, and others who showed me they could give not one fuck less.

Now for the good part – I am back to working out and eating well. I went on a 10-day adventure for my 35th birthday to Washington state to hike, bike, swim in a lake (yes, in October) and just be with nature. Even though I am an East Coast chick (some will say redneck, haha), the beauty of the Pacific Northwest will always amaze me.

Additionally, I am going through with writing the book. I’ve already started, and my most trusted advisor (and one I would call a friend) has let me know that it has a good chance of being successful – so I am moving forward.

As of August, I am also back in school. For what, you say? Hah…all will be revealed in due time, as this update is now far too long as it is.

Now that I have completed my descent into the hellish nightmare of this last year, I am looking forward to ascending upward – my anabasis. All are welcome to join me in this journey.

Good to see you back Laura and in a better place. Always love hour pic’s mate !!!
