Rising Sun

This is a submission for Kevin’s No Theme Thursday.

Early morning, with the rising of the sun,

Where all my worries now come undone.

In the untamed and wild outdoors at last,

Where distant peaks of mountains are vast.

In the deepest green of the enchanted woods,

Where nothing comes between what should.

A hike so calming to the depths of my soul,

Where rugged experiences are left untold.

A lake below, beckoning for a refreshing swim,

Where I enjoy my heart’s contented whims.

Trees that tell a story of ancient’s wisdom,

Where energy pulses in an animal kingdom,

Sky painted vibrantly with colored hues,

Where nature’s call will always be my muse.

  1. “Where nothing comes between what should” — How is this just the perfect line? Were my legs up to it this morning I might call into work and drive somewhere hike-worthy!!

  2. At the beginning, I read the title as “Rising Sign” 😀 Too much astrology 🙂
All the scenes you describe rise before my eyes so vividly! I’d give a lot to be there, especially near the lake!
The connection with nature is the greatest one, the most powerful one, the most healing one ❤
    Beautiful poem ❤

    • 😆 hahah, nice! Rising signs are definitely fun. Now maybe I should write a poem for mine, thanks for the idea! 😂
I’d give anything to be in this vast expanse right now too! 😊
You are correct, as usual. The greatest, most powerful, and healing. ❤️
      Thank you! 🙏

      • Elusive, escapist, enigmatic (there’s a word I can’t stop using!)
Pisces- the sign of Death!! 💀 (well, sorta, it’s the end of the cycle) 😆
        Scorpio rising too, honestly!

  3. Love this part, “Trees that tell a story of ancient’s wisdom, Where energy pulses in an animal kingdom, Sky painted vibrantly with colored hues, Where nature’s call will always be my muse.” Give me nature all day long. 👏🏼

  4. Goodness! The trees that tell the story of ancient wisdom, please, those trees do not deserve to be cut down no matter what. They must be much older than the age of Methuselah. Wisdom flows like the balm of Gilead, Laura.

    • Balms of gilead, now there’s a lovely spiritual medicine. What an amazing comparison, thank you. And yes, I agree on no cutting of the trees, we need them for their plentiful oxygen and shade, among other wonderful reasons. 😊
